New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
|
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Taking you life in your hands without a questions mark there, eh?
GL. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Not sure why I need a question mark when they now offer visa prepaid cards to players, send them out free of charge as well. Players are just responsible for ATM fees.
Can be used to deposit and cashout of Stars. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Wait a minute guys this could be the good news we are all waiting for.
Doesn't say whether it is available to US players though. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
How do you request the Visa card?
|
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
i just signed up, it does work for u.s. players. you can use it for cashouts and deposits. you don't need to deposit first in order to cash out. looks similar to epassporte but way faster, you don't have to buy the card
|
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Surprised this thread hasnt had any responses really, you type in all of your info in the Pokerstars cashiers.
|
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Where do you sign up?
|
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
I think that a flood or responses is coming as soon as people understand what is going on.

For the record I was kidding above, expecting 100 responses in the next 15 minutes.

Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
how long does it take to get a card?
do they offer rush deliver? |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Good job Stars.
They should have had this available even when Neteller was up and running. I'm just cautiously optimistic because I get the feeling the fees are going to be bad. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
This almost seems to fall into the "too good to be true" category.
|
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
I just signed up. Fees suck.
$2.95 monthly fee. 4% + .50 to load from a credit card. $2.50 to withdraw. Terms |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
I agree Nate.
Isn't this pretty much what the government is trying to crack-down on in the first place? Wouldn't they just go to Visa and say, "Stop accepting money-transactions that involve poker sites"?? I guess I'll be trying it in the near future as others share their positive experiences. But I sure won't be leaving much in my Visa-debit account due to the possibility that the funds would somehow get frozen due to my evil pokering. Seems like receiving a check in the mail might be less risky. I just don't understand how this will be a permanent solution since the UIGA is pretty much the government telling Mastercard, Visa and banks, "Don't do this." |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
This offers a fast way to withdraw funds. $4 ATM fee is better than $25 Fedex fee. It still charges way too much for deposits though.

Stars seemed to imply there were only transaction fees. If you are charged a fee regardless, this sucks. If not, it's not a bad option for some and depending on the max withdrawal may even prove useful. I'm most concerned with the ease of funding for fish, though. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Just signed up. Fees suck hard. Above me is the particulars fees they hit you with.
It's thru Paytrucard.com I talked on the phone with a rep. They consider Pokerstars withdrawal a load, so you'll get hit with 4% + $0.50. And then hit you with $4 at the ATM too. Monthly fee $3 too, woohoo. When signing up thru the pokerstars cashier, make sure your middle initial is in there, as paytru seemed to assign me a random one. They also added to my address an "apt 101" which I was able to edit in the paytru window. I signed up. 10-14 business days to get a card in the mail. I imagine things are going to be nutty this year with withdrawals, so I want as many options as I can have. (still in the middle of things with epassporte) But, I don't see this as a long term solution unless Stars picks up that withdrawal fee of 4%. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
I will probably stick to paper checks, but this seems like it will be good for the fish.

Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
How is 4% + $.50 to deposit, 4% to withdraw, $2.95 monthly fee, $4 ATM fee plus $2 my bank ATM fee something to be happy about?
SO 4% rake in, 4% rake out, plus $9.45 in fees. WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! Will Stars be giving a reach around? |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
It seems the link is now gone from cashier.
No way this is good for casual players. They nick you every month, nick you when you deposit, nick you when you cash out from pokerstars and then nick you again when you withdraw. If I'm a casual player, what's left of my $100 that I deposit? [ QUOTE ] I will probably stick to paper checks, but this seems like it will be good for the fish. [/ QUOTE ] |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
yeah WTF...link from Cashier is now gone

Ddin't ZBT Horton mention Stars having a new payment processor soon?

9. The value available on the Card at any one time is limited to the dollar amount of prepaid funds, less withdrawals and amounts deducted for purchases and fees. Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Also from the email I just got from paytru. Monthly fee of $2.95 is only charged when there is a balance on the account with no monthly accrual. So if you maintained a zero balance on the card month to month, you'd skip that fee. So if Stars picks up that load fee of 4% it will be real similar to the Neteller ATM card for fees. And now it's off the stars cashier page, so who knows.

Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Email dialogue with Stars:
Regarding the "get a free pre-paid Visa Debit Card" >Hi, > >I just signed up for this deposit/withdrawal option thru your site and paytru. Everything went thru fine. I even talked with paytru's customer service rep on the phone already. > >But, > >1. I notice it isn't an option in the cashier window anymore. What's up with that? > >2. Paytru's fees seem similar to Neteller's fees. However, I am concerned with the 4% + $0.50 load fee. Their rep says that withdrawing from Stars would be a load. Are you picking up that fee as you did with Neteller? > >Thanks, Their response: Hello xxxx, Yes, once you sign up for a Visa debit card, the option will disappear. You will need to return to the Cashier screen and then make a deposit using the Visa logo. We will cover the fees for your cash out, from your PokerStars account to your Visa Debit Card. However, please keep in mind that there might be other fees involved once the funds are in your Debit Card. Regards, Anna PokerStars Support Team ------------- So, this is real real similar to Neteller atm fee-wise. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
I never signed up for the debit card (although I did click on the button and opened the window). The option is no longer there.
|
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars

I will probably stick to paper checks, but this seems like it will be good for the fish. [/ QUOTE ] This is an awful idea for fish. They load 100 bucks on the card, they get to play with $94 on the site. (100 - $3.00 monthly fee - $3.00 load fee). If a fish did not find value in subscribing to a No rake poker site 2 years ago for 10 bucks a month, why would they want to load $100 bucks to play on pokerstars with $94.00. No solution will work for the average player until when they allocate $100 to play poker, they get $100 on the pokersite. |
Re: New Deposit Option on Pokerstars
Maybe because they know pokerstars exists.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't see the logic. If a fish doesn't see the value in a no-rake site then they are MORE likely to not see any problem with depositing $100 and only getting $94 to play with. People who are MORE AWARE are the ones who will have problems with the fees. Those who are LESS AWARE are less likely to be bothered by it. |
