I fold river. You have no reason to believe he overbet shoves like this without flush.

FreakDaddy 02-11-2007 06:07 AM

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

I think if he wanted to bluff, that a bet of $200 would be fine. Especially if he's been a station, I don't think he shoving, after your raise without a flush. It would seem utterly pointless to do so otherwise, but people do suprise the hell out of me from time to time.

Bump
I didn't realize people had specific reads on easyway777 so I just wanted to bump it and see how that changes things.

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

ya def an easy fold against him. he doenst really bluff v much but def calls down w/ any piece. he also loves to c/r bluff paired flops. if i wasnt so tired last night i woulda played him forever

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

Wow <3 easyway...I actually lost to him playing HU before you sat down which sent me on life tilt...

I fold this really fast. Btw, a line he often takes is raise or c/r bluff the turn and then shut down on the river, I have never seen him fire two barrels on a bluff. I also don't think I've ever seen him cbet w/o a hand. He did c/r the river for value vs. me one time, so I guess he's capable of SOME "moves."

It makes me wonder how profitable it even is to play a rock like him HU...the main guys I've profited from are overaggressive. It's so boring and annoying to play guys that just limp every button and check/call anything worse than TPTK.

I mean, I'm sure it's profitable but playing 6 max seems moreso.

i used to think this, but that's not the case.

A: You have to adjust your mindset so as not to expect to win a huge amount of money right away...be content with just taking down lots of pots and fold to their occasional reraises.

B: I have a lot of HU experience, and rocks still make dumb plays eventually.

C: A lot of rocks in my experience end up becoming idiots in reraised pots toward the middle of the session (eg- they start making really bad calls preflop) and you can just take it down on the flop. This of course assumes that you reraise often.

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

Alright I called he had the nuts.

This was only like 15-20 hands so I wasn't really sure how he played.

FWIW I was really tired and dropped 2.5 buyins to him as a combination of him running super hot and me playing bad because I hadn't slept for like 20 hours. Well next time.

Eagles 02-12-2007 02:21 PM

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

Sigh right now am I really bitter not giving any results on specific hands but I played him on 2 tables when I was really tired and played like [censored] and lost like 2.5 buyins. It also didn't help that he ran super hot.

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

Eagles

Go_Blue,
Well, another main problem is that they often buy in for like $240 or some [censored] like that so it not only takes forever to bust them, you don't win much when you do.
Yah, I reraise light a ton vs them as well, but like I said, it's particularly annoying when they limp the button and you just have to jab at the really tiny pots. I can never get a good flow going when every other hand is a 2 BB pot.

Also, I fold this pretty quickly.

The only real moves I think he makes is bluff c-r the flop. Even then he gives up on the turn.

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

I know it's easyway... but he has the capability to make a flush, believe it or not. I still might call though, it IS easyway afterall....

but really, it's a fold... there's gonna be better spots

Re: Tough River spot with a straight HU

ugh I was up 3k on him last night and quit almost back to even after making a couple of bad calls in similar situations. I think you have to fold here, he seems to almost never have a worse hand when he does this.
