NLH:T&P study group

Guys, I'm putting together an interest list for those who want to go through the book as a group and discuss various concepts and add some of our own insights.

Even if you are not crazy about the book I think this can be very helpful to your game.

this book is my bible. if you can read between the lines its more helpful than you think. i rely on this book when i dont think i played a hand well more than i rely on 2+2.

im in as ive read the book 6 times now and will probably keep reading it.

Never read a NL book before. I guess I should start somewhere. I've been meaning to pick this up anyway.

I'm in. While I love other Sklansky/Miller books, I only "like" this book, but read and re-read it constantly.

I would like to join in too. I am making the transition to live NL play from Limit. This book was my starting point.

I look forward to getting as much from it as I can.

Re: NLH:T&P study group

I think it would be a good idea to cover a small section Monday through Thursday and letting these threads float during Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for everybody to catch up.

Is anybody opposed to this?

Re: NLH:T&P study group

I think that's a good idea. I've read it twice in the past month (jan was my first NL month) and it's helped me lots obviously. I'll read/post.

And tentatively we'll cover ~15 pages a day which will make this about a 4-5 week course.

Monday, February 19th looks like it would be a good start date. Some are ordering their books now and Valentine's day is next week.

Great Book......easily one of the best CASH books on the market for advanced play.I will chime in some thoughts when you get going on the 19th

How exactly will this course work? Will you just bring up a topic in the 15 pages and we discuss it on the forum?

Yes.

We'll have a thread for that day's required reading and in it we will pose questions and point out things that others might have missed. We will also point out anything we may disagree with.

This book has been done by the Small Stakes forum I believe. I, and many others here, wasn't around for that.

Like this type of thing

FWIW, I made notes on legal pad for all 60 concepts at the end of the book. I only posted those two topics. I'm really not sure if it violates copywrites of some sort.

Re: NLH:T&P study group

I was reading over some of the book last night.

Some of the content is ingenious.

Some is borderline wrong. There is currently a thread in books/publications discussing a few of these items.

I am really looking forward to this discussion.

Its all gold Pboy, you just have to know when to apply it. alot of it doesnt apply to donkeys but is very useful when throwing down with 2p2ers.

So you're saying a lot of the book applies to tough games.

Most games (especially SSNL) don't fit this bill.

And anyone who knows anything about game selection would seemingly 'find better spots'.
