Dunkin\' Donuts Maple Cheddar Sandwich

Egg, maple flavored sausage, and cheddar cheese on a croissant. I had one for breakfast today. I did not like it. I remember reading RAVES for these things on this forum.

Did I simply catch DD on a bad day? Does this sandwich simply suck? Do I suck? My entire belief system is in flux now.

sam,

How do you feel about McDonald's Sausage McGriddles?

It may vary from one location to another. The Dunkin Donuts near my house has an AWESOME sausage, egg, and cheese. Its great every single time. I got one at another Dunkin Donuts and it was so bad I threw it out.

It tastes a little funky. I think the cheddar cheese is what screws it up. The standard sausage, egg and cheese is much, much better.

I like them, although I prefer the regular Sausage McMuffin more.

I probably should have known something was up when they didn't cook the egg on a grill.

Then you either got a sub-par DD sandwich or you don't like the cheddar they use.

sam,

This sounds gross but maybe its just how you described it. I was actually pleased to read you did not like it.

Next time go commando (i.e., no cheese).

which egg does it have? cuz dunkin' donuts has the NASTIEST "fried" eggs in existence. every time i am forced to eat there due to lack of better options or laziness, i order a ham and cheese, no egg, on a bagel, and they almost never fail to give me an egg anyway.

ugh, i shudder when i even think of those nasty things.

I just had one of these this morning. I agree that it is Dunkin' Donuts' attempt at a Sausage McGriddle.

Mine was pretty good, but... well, I've read Fast Food Nation, and I could practically identify the chemical that was telling me this was deliciously maple syrup-scented and flavored.

That simply sounds gross.

I never have understood sweet+scrambled eggs=worth eating

Like the McGriddles at McDonalds. Don't get it.

It was some kind of "scrambled" egg type of object, and I'm 99% sure it was cooked in the microwave.

Nez - do not underestimate the number of people who enjoy maple syrup on their sausage. And eggs/cheese have long been great partners. This is simply an attempt to combine two great separate tastes into one great taste.

Normally, I enjoy this combination, but the DD sandwich simply was not up to par.

nath - did you get the croissant toasted? I did not. I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it?

guys, I make possibly the greatest croissant breakfast sandwich in the world, and I can assure you that toasting the croissant is critical.

Sponger,

That looks good. Do you dip it in maple syrup?

Everyone should try Subway breakfast, if they're available in your area. It's better than any others, b/c you can get any veggies, oil+vinegar, oregano, salt+pepper ... it almost tastes real.

Re: Dunkin\' Donuts Maple Cheddar Sandwich

The only veggies suitable for a breakfast sandwich are grilled onions and peppers, and really I'll only put those in a breakfast burrito.
