Rank the HSP season 3 players.

1- Daniel Alaei
2- Doyle
3- Daniel Negreanu (A lot less spewy than last season, definitely a winner in this game)
4- Chen (Don't really remember that much from him)
5- Wasica (I know we only saw him play one hand, but that is enough to show us that he is better than the rest of the players)
6- Matusow
7- Ramdin
8- Sheiky
9- Jamie Gold

Overall everyone seems exceptionally passive so far.

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

Buss > Gold

both are probably -EV in the game, but Buss much less so just because he seemed alot more ABC.

Gold has no concept of preflop starting reqs. or position it would seem, most likely because he thinks he'll be able to take the pot away later with bizarre bluffs. The fact that 4+ people are in routinely the freaking hand doesn't seem to dissaude him.

This strategy might not be so terrible in a game with people who had no idea how you played or against total passive rocks but every top player at that table knows his M.O. to heart, they have probably played with players exactly like him many many many times.

I very well might be biased (I openly admit to hating Gold) but he's by far the worst player I've seen thus far on all three seasons (it's close between him and Shaminari the gynocologist dude)

I like Doyle and Mike Matusows game the most so far this season.

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

Are we supposed to rank the players just on how they've played so far this season or on how good we think they're overall?

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

You're seriously putting Gold head of Ramdin and Sheiky? I think Gold would have a tough time beating a live 2/5 game. I think he's even worse than Buss. I mean Buss is weak-tight and might as well play his hand face up but he'll lose his chips at a much slower rate than Gold.

Overall I've been most impressed by Antonio, I know he hasn't appeared officially yet this season but overall he seems like one of the trickiest, hardest players to play against.

This post is irrelevant, wtf?

My ratings:
1- Doyle (easily)
2- Alaei
3- Matusow ( I hate to put him this high, but so far it's a no brainer he is playing good poker )
4- DN

The rest are a toss up...

But I have to say, Mr. Kaplan was very impressive in the few hands he played in episode 3 ( I think it was ep. 3, eh?)

UATrewqaz, do you mean Fred Chamanara (the restaurant owner from Chicago) or the doctor gynacologist guy. I thought both played very poor, but the doctor also had some sort of badass attitude even though it was so clear he was out of his league, whereas the restaurant owner seemed happy to go along with the ride (and lose his money quickly).

I like this list. I don't really remember much from Sheiky, but Ramdin and Gold have played really, really bad from what I've seen so far in season 3.

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

I suspect Ramdin is usually better than he's showing, they said he has been mentored by Ivey. I think he ran into a lot of hands and was played back at, and he started steaming. He also got short stacked, the reason for some of his wilder plays (the KJ push etc).

Meh, they would prolly be winning players in 2/5 LIVE, but thats b/c most live players suck really bad.

2/4 NL and higher online and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Ramdin, Gold, Sheiky, and Buss were all losing players.

Wow who knew Jamie Gold was THIS bad. I thought he was supposed to be decent... but he is just BAD BAD BAD.

So Johnny Chan a crappy coach? =)

Some of these players are such spew monekys it's ridiculous. Doyle just sits back and plays ABC, and everyone spews chips his away, esp. Ramdin/Gold.

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

No, Ramdin really is this bad, at least for cash. He was playing a tournament style.

His recent tournament streak has been quite sick. He has been at the top of the leader board in almost every championship tournament the last three months, with a lot of mid money cashes.

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

I don't understand how anyone cannot have Gold at the bottom of their list and Doyle on the top.

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

While I do believe Gold is playing really poorly, and I'm certainly no fan boy as I dislike him as well, I thought I'd heard that he was beating the 20/40 NL at the Commerce. He certainly used to play in it and from what I remember hearing was doing well. Certainly not one of the best but he held his own. I think he may be donkin around and not really playing too seriously...why he'd do that is anybody's guess.

FWIW, my list:

Doyle

Matusow
Alaei

DN

Chen
Sheiky
Ramdin
Gold

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

I think Gold is playing as many hands as possible to -

A) Get as much TV time as possible
B) Possibly win a huge pot with something exotic, and look 'brilliant'
C) Possibly bluff a pro with nothing and look 'brilliant'

are you guys serious with alaei being at the top of lists or am i being leveled here?

i havn't seen this weeks episode but so far alaei is play like a total donk. the 88 hand, the 55 hand, and the KK hand, i mean wtf?

I agree. Alaei is the best in this line up.

[ QUOTE ]
2- Doyle

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep. I think he gets too much credit because he's a legend, but he is second best at a weakish table.

3- Daniel Negreanu (A lot less spewy than last season, definitely a winner in this game)

He's not stuck yet.

9- Jamie Gold

Going by his play thus far, he is the worst player ever to play on HSP.

Actually I think I heard that on L@TB around the time the ME was finishing up, not sure though. I definitely didn't make it up from thin air, heard it somewhere. I'm sure you could shed some light on how he played, if he did play the 20/40 game at Commerce I imagine you've played with him yeah?

Might have been Bluff Radio. We were following Jamie pretty closely because Nick Gerber and Scott Preston were friends of Jamie's from before the ME.

Re: Rank the HSP season 3 players.

1. Doyle, on point as always
2. DN, tightened up for season three and isn't saying as many stupid things, except when he's commentating
3. Matusow, yup, the mouth is using his experience as a high stakes junior to push his stack around at the right times, we'll see what happens
4. Alaei, even though he's playin a little bitchy he's still a winner
5. Wasica, not too much action he's solid tho
6. Sheiky, has some experience, better attitude, still learning
7. Jamie Gold, spewriffic, but mixing it up, not the worst
8. Victor Ramdin, how'd this guy get invited
