Where in Canada should I move
I currently live in NYC but due to this neteler fiasco I am seriously considering going to Canada for a few months.
Im 24 and would like to find a place where everything isnt closed at 10 oclock, lots of bars with people my age, nice whether (Id like to play some baseball if people even play baseball out there) and relativly safe. Where should I go. |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
no baseball ever, all danger
|
Re: Where in Canada should I move
oh yea id also like to play some poker
|
Re: Where in Canada should I move
Vancouver FTW.
|
Re: Where in Canada should I move
yeah you sound like you want vancouver.
montreal if it wasnt an issue of weather. |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
Is money a factor? I agree that it sounds like Vancouver is the best place for your needs but it's not exactly cheap to live there. From what I hear the maritime and prairie provinces have a much lower cost of living, something to consider if you are not robusto.
Safety isn't much of a concern in >90% of Canada. |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
if you have money Vancouver.
if you dont have money, Toronto (you can live with my Aunt and Uncle in their basement) |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
Christ.
Someone should just do a "Ask ____ about living in Canada" thread. |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
Toronto.
It's multicultural like NYC, we got tons of sports teams, transit system, biggest city in Canada too. U can come watch the yankees get pwned by the jays. |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
Montreal > Vancouver > Toronto > Ottawa

Christ. Someone should just do a "Ask ____ about living in Canada" thread. [/ QUOTE ] It's already been done at least once. The last time someone did one, the OP turned out to be a complete retard who knew almost nothing about Canada. |

British Columbia and its not close

British Columbia and its not close [/ QUOTE ] Perhaps, but if the OP is in NY, perhaps the best bet may be just to cross the border and try someplace in Ontario or Montreal. If the OP is 24, he will love Montreal... Once he finds out more about Canada, maybe he can look to other places. PS.Also, lots of baseball leagues you can play in in the medium and big cites. In the smaller places, Fastball seems to prevail, much to my dismay. Unless, of course, you like watching a pitcher and catcher play catch for 6 or 7 innings. |
Re: Where in Canada should I move

Vancouver FTW. [/ QUOTE ] Especially if OP is a pothead. |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
As someone who lives in Saskatchewan, I agree with "Vancouver, and it's not even close". No way you won't love it there, it's beautiful, one of the top cities in the world.
|
Re: Where in Canada should I move
montreal and vancouver are the 2 best cities in Canada imo.
Montreal has a more exciting nightlife and some great cultural architecture. Close to many large eastern cities if that's your thing. Weather is extreme. Vancouver's more laidback, access to mountains, water, and all types of outdoor activity. Weather is more moderate, but lots of rain. If you want something like NY just go to Toronto, but imo, thats defeating the purpose of coming to Canada. |

Yukon Territory, or Regina.
Regina has a great casino and it is pronounced, [ra-ji-nah] I love calling them and hearing them say that on the phone. -J |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
From what I hear, even the hunchback of Notre Dame can pick up hot chicks in Montreal.

vancouver
|
Re: Where in Canada should I move
Iqaluit FTW
|
Re: Where in Canada should I move
im not much of a pothead but smoke once or twice a month
Money isnt an issue as i figure anything will be cheaper than NY and i really dont plan on staying long- just long enough to get my neteller money |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
Weather in Montreal can be annoying but winter is almost over, if you want to come for a couple of months just to cash out from neteller you should consider Montreal more than Vancouver. The nightlife is much better, there's more women in the summer and it's cheaper than Vancouver.
That said, Vancouver is still a nice city, but you're much closer to Montreal from NYC. later |

Re: Where in Canada should I move
Victoria on Vancouver Island.
Less than 1/2 the rain of Vancouver, no snow, year round golf, 1/2 the price of living in Vancouver. The Comox/Courtney area is beautiful too and even cheaper to live, although they are going through a bit of a building boom right now. Regards, Woodguy |

Still has somewhat of a rep for "newlywed & nearly dead", but not like it used to. Really depends on what you like to do for fun. Regards, Woodguy |
Re: Where in Canada should I move
If you want nightlife - Montreal
If you want a big, crappy, materialistic population base - Toronto If you want weather and a beautiful city - Vancouver If you want a high paying job, love the mountains, and tons of juicy live games at 5 or 6 casinos in the city - Calgary |

If you want a big, crappy, materialistic population base - Toronto [/ QUOTE ] We are certainly a big city. As for the rest of it, just by virtue of being larger there is more of everything. That includes more wealth, so the peaks of materialism are higher than everywhere else in Canada. Toronto is a severely underrated city because it is not very accessible to visitors. Living here is way better than visiting here. Oh, and also the wealthier you are the better Toronto is. I've come to appreciate it more since I started earning a decent wage. |

Re: Where in Canada should I move
Hey, during a Sharks game the broadcasters were saying how the service industry in Edmonton is in dire need of help. They were spewing out [censored] like a McDonalds burger-flipper makes $28/hour. I don't believe this since the Sharks announcers are idiots, but can someone clarify?

Re: Where in Canada should I move
Actually there are so many jobs here it is crazy. Mcdonalds Pays about $12 an hour. Though north of edmonton in Fort Mcmurray(300 miles) were all the Oil Tar sands gos on that would be correct. A franchisee of a Tim Hortons gave it back as he could not get night staff at anywere from $25-$50 hour. If you cant find a Job in Alberta you do not want one. Good Luck finding a place to live though. I bought my house in Edmonton in jan 2006 Just moved in and its worth 75% more at over 1/2 million
