I think gabe does an amazing job, and it is taking away from the show to have negreanu do it. Plus i like seeing negreanu play anyway.

Yeah, that was hilarious.

They should let Gabe play and also do the commentary. Assuming they do the commentary post production, then he could do both.

Dan yammers so much in the booth that AJ can't get a word in. That's a good thing.

Once again GSN switches over to an infomercial 30 minutes in. Fantastic. I have to wait to grab a torrent tomorrow.

They first show a rerun or two. Then they show the new one. Then, half way through the new one GSN cuts in with an infomercial.

Shawn's breaking of Matasow's sunglasses may have been one of the greatest moments of television ever. Someone delivering a right cross to the [censored]'s face would be better, but that's a lot to hope for, I guess.

The main impression I've gotten after having watched most of HSP so far, is that Doyle Brunson is a BAAAAAAAD MAN. It's sort of cliche, but the guy really does just seem to "feel" the game, it's incredible to watch and really at this point, after getting bored with Matusow's antics, etc., it's Brunson I tune in for. Of course in a few weeks the sick table gets going. Shame Brunson's not at that table from what I'v heard.

So, in this episode they kept insisting that Daniel was in the booth while Gabe was playing and could look at the hole cards. They even asked him when he was about to go back, "how will your strategy now change now that you know how your opponents are playing". They can't possibly be serious, can they ?

They're not serious. At the end of the episode when Daniel comes back he sees Gabe cash stack and gives an honest laugh when Gabe picks up his cash stack saying "that's a $1000 here".

On the previous episode Daniel supposedly saw this from the booth, so why the surprise unless he wasn't really coming back from the booth.

Nevermind that there is no way the other players would let Daniel leave for the booth if he could see the hole cards while he was gone.

I just wonder where Gabe won all the money he had when he left. I know they only show a fraction of the hands but other than the good size pot he won from Matusow I don't recall any other pots he won.

But when he cashed out, he paid Brunson back the $100K he owed him and still had a quite a few stacks of 10K bundles to walk off with when he got up from the table.

I would love to have seen Matusow's reaction when he saw the show last week and saw that Gabe really did have Kings.

Those weren't 10k bundles, they were $100 bundles. Gabe got $1,000 in cash that wasn't intended to play, he just wanted to look cool (and said as much during the first ep he played in).

I don't understand why they acted like this when anyone who watches poker regularly understands that the commentary is done afterward. It's like almost everyone knows what's going on and GSN and the players are winking at us like it's a joke on a small group of not-so-bright people or people who don't watch poker on tv regularly.

I think given the nature of HSP it may seem to the casual viewer that the commentary is live and thus it would have seemed as if Daniel was indeed watching everyone play for an hour before he took his seat back from Gabe.

When Gabe and Mike were talking about the KK hand from last week, it sounded to me like they wanted to make a bet on Gabe's cards but couldn't because it would count as a prop. Can anyone confirm that Mike wanted to bet that Gabe didn't have KK like he said? Because wow, that would be a really dumb bet to offer.

No, I get the feeling that Gabe was prohibited from making any kinds of side bets like that while he was sitting in the game. Maybe it was part of the agreement he made to be able to play this year and not commentate.

How can you make a 20k bet against a guy who has no win. Plus, it's on TV and everybody sees what you’re doing. Kaplan's smart enough to know that's the wrong move. Would some other players have done it, who knows? I don't think he was prohibited from making the bet.

I think it is funny how Jamie Gold is constantly seeking the approval of the other players at the table. For instance he made a run of the mill TP/BK laydown in a multiway pot on a ugly board. After the hand he tells Matusow about it.

There are other examples but that is the most obvious one.

OMG Im starting to hate this show. This isnt HSP this is a cash game for mainly tourney donks. I cant wait till the better table starts. Its just mike blabbering the whole time and half the time is them playing off the whole switching Gabe for Daniel. The first 2 seasons were 10X better.

Negreanu made a big deal about it in the commentary too. Maybe he's just trying to get Gold to play in big cash games.

why would anyone willingly watch this on youtube? If you don't have usenet access its on public trackers.

I still think this is the best poker tv show, even though the play has been not as great/exciting this season. Ramdin/Chen/Alaei have no charisma, Gold/Sheiky have negative charisma, only players at this table I enjoy watching are Mike/Doyle/DN. Gabe played great too, somewhat redeeming himself after his play on poker after dark.
