What to do with $35k?
 

Found it in my bank account today. I have spent 3 hours trying to figure out why my acct balance is + $35 k. They say its my money. Nothing else is missing money. What would you spend it on?

yeah i would invest some time figuring out where it came from. otherwise it could look like this:

OP spends all of teh 35K on hookahs and blow
Bank tells him it was a clerical error and to give teh moniez back
OP tells them to GFY
Bank sues and takes everything OP owns

it is most likely a bank error and it can take them a while to find out. Probably an error in a business deposit/ transfer which can take a while to notice ( happens more then you'd think). So obv withdraw and move to mexico ASAP.

If you have already paid your taxes i'm guessing you might have been paying quarterly? Aren't you entitled to a tax refund in some cases if you pay quarterly?

I suggest getting something that retains its value so in case they want the 35k back it won't be that bad. Put it in a brokerage account or down payment on some property or an all platinum watch etc. depending on how liquid (or illiquid- is this a word?) you can afford.

The only thing worse than blowing the money on something with no value like gambooling or hookahs is NOT doing anything soon. Get something useful now when you have the chance and post pics on BBV. Thanks and enjoy!

Check the TOS of your acct. You are probably supposed to report this? If it's an error, you will still be responsible for paying it back I believe.. Be careful...
