What percentage of the time do you play MTTs?
 

I wanted to make it 100% of the time and try to do really well in them but I find it too hard with bankroll fluctuations. Right now its 70% MTTs, 30% sit n gos.

What about you guys?

Until Jan I was about 95% SNGs 5% MTTs. I just dabbled in MTTs for fun from time to time. Then, I got lucky and chopped for first in the 45k. This 11k score was about as much as I had made in the previous year playing. Since then, I've been 95% MTTs. I only play SNGs now if I don't have time for a full MTT. I'll probably balance it out more once I come down off this heater and reality sets in.

I don't play MTTs or SNGs regularly since I'm at school now, so don't take my response too seriously if you play a lot.

I tend to mix up what I play. I'll be in a SNG mood for a couple of weeks and instead of playing MTT's for long periods of time, I like to play several SNGs at a time for a couple hours. Other weeks I'm in an MTT mood. I usually switch up what I play to keep my interest level high.

Granted, I'm not playing more than 3 SNGs at a time or 2 MTTs at a time, but I end up splitting my time about 60% MTT and 40% SNG, but I tend to mix it up a little bit.

Obviously for someone who plays a lot of MTTs and SNGs, variance is higher in the MTT area, so SNGs can be used as a game of stability (at least in comparison to MTTs).

In general, I mix it up, but again I probably play about 5-10% as much as a lot of the posters on here...

I just caught a wiff of the MTT scent this week and am hooked. Normally a cash game player, however, I stumbled across this forum, and one thing lead to another. I can't express in words how [censored] awesome this forum is. After many late nights reading and soaking up all this info I'm gonna start playing MTT more frequently. If I can score a 5 figure cash by the end of the summer I'll be more than statisfied.

I would say 80% for me. I still want to be good at the cash games, and I gotta grind out my 1000 Raked hands for the Cabin Fever free rolls.

Hee hee. I'm the same way... I really want my first 5-figure cash. My two biggest cashes so far are for $9800 and $9700. Five digits seems like an elusive dream...

35 tournies in Feb, no cashes and everytime I get KO'd it seems to be on an 80/20 when I still come out on the bad side... just common variance but the way and manner it is happening in is getting to me.

It varies a lot. I don't keep super accurate stats enough to say with exact certainty.

But, 1 week I'll be on some vengence to win a tournament and I'll play a lot, other times I'll get bored of tourneys and play nl 600 or something, other times I'll 8 table sit and gos. I suck at sit and gos though, so I need to shape up.

I only have time for tournaments in the weekends usually so for me it's 50% SnG's, 40% cashgames and 10% MTT's.

I've recently switched to playing more MTT's (two FT's in January certainly helped the bankroll). Right now my mix is probably 80-90% MTT and 10% SnGs.

But seriously, I used to play SNGs all the time - but for the last year or two now I just play MTTs and an occasional cash game. I can't get excited any more about winning a SNG when an MTT can sometimes pay 100+ buy-ins.

I prefer the MTTs more than anything, but if I'm on a downswing I switch over to cash games. I'd say I'm about 80% MTTs and 20% cash games. Though it seems that the 20% is a killer when you keep getting sucked out on and thus lose your bankroll, THANK YOU my friend TILT!!! AA v AK = 93% favorite = Rich loses and clown boy stacks me. Sorry, frustrating.

Oh yeah, not a big fan of SnGs.

Absolutely, but I force myself to read through the STT forum and get back into them for a while. I actually think STTs help me with tilt control. When I play too many MTTs without playing other games, I find myself caring too much about single games. I get really pissed off when I bust, but when I am 4-tabling SNGs, I wont even be able to tell you how I busted in them by the time they are finished.

I also have done some work on my limit game, but I'm destined to be a <.5BB/100 limit player. I still play a few hours a week, but a lot of it revolves around bonus clearing.

From someone with a 60+ hour per week B&M job - I play as many MTTs as my bankroll will allow - when I get down a few buy-ins, I pop open a soft, boring LHE table and play until I win 2-3 buy-ins & then its right back to the MTTs. When I occasionally cash for a nice MTT payday, I pull the profits out, last time for a trip to Vegas [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]. This way, my cash game skills stay useful as I learn the MTT world.

I will say this about SNGs - they are great practice for Final Tables. If I get into a streak where I bust out early in a few Final Tables then I'll go back and play some SNGs until I get my confidence back.

I play mostly limit cash games, so I'd say somewhere around 75% those and 25% tournaments.

That's definitely true but if you hit a Jurollo like downswing (not picking on him, it can happen to any good player, and I'm not as good as him) I always go through my head about how easy it would be to pick up a few buyins by winning or getting 2nd in a Sit N go, which I'm best in...even though I don't enjoy them at all.

about 90-95%,play a few sng's when get booted early out of a tourney and have nothing going on. right now i'm playing about 8 hrs a day starting at 10 am to 6pm,3-6 tourneys daily,20 -30$ buy ins. try to start every month with 100 buy ins in my account,and cash out at the end of every month,what ever balance over. atleast that's the plan for now,i'm sure that will change.

i'd guess about 90% of the time. I will do occasional S+G one tables. Decided to take party up on a bonus last week and i'm miserable while clearing it. 400 more hands to go and i'm bored out of my skull and the loose passive idiots always outdraw me.

Think I'm going to stop playing cash games unless I know somebody there and it's more "social" for me. Just so over bonus clearing anyway [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

This describes my first month of playing exclusively MTTs.

Right now I'd say I'm 35MTT's/65% S&G's, primarily depending on how much time I have to play poker and my mood.

It fluctuates a lot.. I have this thing where I'm overly results oriented on a day-by-day basis. I basically renounced tournies up until like 2 weeks ago cuz I didn't have a big score and felt like I was wasting my time, then I had a decent-sized win and the feeling of making it to a FT with a lot on the line is > than all the variance involved with these things. S&G's maintain my roll for the most part, but they're so boring I tend to not care. I have more fun sweating other people at FT's then I do playing S&G's, even though they have technically been more profitable for me. (Small sample size)

I have a fever. And the only prescription is more MTTs.

I'll occasionally play STTs as a satellite. I was into NL cash games, and then one day I figured out that I wasn't having any fun. And yet I find MTTs fun, despite their utter brutality. I'm a sick puppy.

I should play limit holdem cash games, or razz, or O8, or 78, but I don't. I need to learn to get decent at them though.

So far this week (my first back into poker after getting addicted to some PS2 and PC games for a month), I've played the following:

6.5 hours SNGs (24 SNGs)
10.33 hours RING (8 sessions)
3.6 hours MTTs (1 MTT)

This comes out to 17.62%, which is probably right around average for me, although sometimes I would like to play a bit more.

I'm 'on call' every other night/weekend, so the nights that I'm on call, I only play ring games in case I get called out..... if I were off every night, I think my ring game play would probably drop to a maximum of half of what it is now, and my MTT play would increase at least 50%.

right now 95% of the time. Three months ago, I was 100% 6-man $35 SNGs though, and that treated me very well. I may have to go back to that well at some point.

I do well in STNGs, but I like to set aside a portion of my profits to dabble in MTTs. Many of you probably know that the ol' sitngo grind is a bit tedious, so it's nice to play a few MTTs for a chance at a much bigger score.

But after a horrible month I am forcing myself to play some sngs again so i guess it will be around 50/50
