How many 2+2er\'s are ready to hang it up?
 

With all thats going on and the apparent chaos and uncertainty within the online poker industry, how many of you guys are ready to call it quits? I have been an avid poker player for the past 2 years or so and have basically learned everything about the game from 2+2, however I have a very active family, career, and other interests and I am honestly trying to figure out if the risk is worth it to me.

Now I know that I'm not nearly as hardcore as many of you and don't depend on poker as a living like many here do, but what are your plans... Obviously if things work out great, but if not what is everyones plan B.

I'm really pissed with everything thats going on because one of my faverite past times is being taken from me, on the other hand, and being honest with myself, I see this as being a tremendous blow that may actually destroy the industry.

What's the point in quitting if you enjoy it?

If they stop you from doing it thats one thing, but to quit doesnt make sense to me.

I'll mail money orders to the surviving poker sites if need be and I'll write "FU Bush and Congress" on the bottom left corner. I'm not going to let these SOBs tell me what I can do with my own money in my own home.

If PokerStars dies, I may look for some contract programming work, but still play plenty of poker. I probably should be doing that anyway if I ever want to build my roll. Winning $8k or so over the last 3 months really isn't cutting it.

I will if I judge it to be the correct strategic decision. I'm not truly "ready" but I could be on short notice if necessary. I've been on about fifteen-day alert since October; working on shortening that up right now.

I'm not rushing to get out at the moment, though. I just want to be prepared to do so if it becomes necessary.

I am done with online poker. I cashed out and left 7 cents in my Poker Stars account.

I can fly from Tusayan,AZ (1 mile out side of Grand Canyon, AZ where I live) to Las Vegas on Vision Air for $65(Grand Canyon Employee Rate) I think some people playing at the tables in Vegas will soon be asking "Who the [censored] was that Big Fat Queer who just took all my god damn money?" LOL

I just decided I'm going to work to become a professional photographer. Or at least make a book that I'll try to sell. No idea what I'm doing other than that I think I have a good eye. But screw it. It will be nice to put all my effort into something a little more rewarding. Something that doesn't routinely kick me in the teeth, knock me down, and fart in my face. I think also if I have something else I may enjoy poker more and not be so stressed out.

I'm collecting my roll from online, but I'm not sure thats going to be very easy.

I'll leave a few hundred around for entertainment, but I'm basically done. Ever since all this started I have not been playing well so screw it anyways.

I'll quit as soon as offshore Non-USA affliated sites, won't take my money (or worse won't give it back).

Seriously though how the [censored] can't these poker sites not:
a) Buy off the right people in congress or whatever (how much are poker sites making? How much would they make if it was legal in the US?)
b) Fight for regulation (or fight for anything for [censored] sake)
c) Create their own payment proccesor/deposit method/ewallet, located completly outside of the united states by people not from the united states (+$$$ no?).

I'm going to continue living abroad and playing my heart out till:
A) My heart gives out, Id say 1 in 20 in next five years
B) I go Busto, definitely possible
C) Gambling becomes illegal in the whole world (and maybe Space)

I don't think the games will get overly tough, becuase I am sure there will be a nice influx of Canadians and EuroPEONS.

Worst case scenario, I bring my roll home and then send $400 to WSEX and play rakefree .5/1 limit for kicks.

Um... not to discourage you, dude... but I FYP to reflect the life of a professional photographer. Hard work, near-constant rejection, and paltry earnings are par for the course. Even more so than for poker at the moment. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]
