O8 Forum suggestions
 

I'm thinking that we should have a "Well" series like the other forums.. basicaly freeform Q&A's featuring selected established O8 players. Also, a "monthly low-content" thread just to dump stupid hands and whatever in would be cool too... PLO does this.

Thoughts? Other suggestions?

we shud 1/2 for actual hands, and 1/2 for the theoretical, books, blah blah blah

I think both would be great. Although we do already have a low content thread, and I think it's cool that the thread continues to build up over time.

But I really like the Q&A forum idea, because it's not really low content, but doesn't really fall under hand postings either. I think it would be helpful for those of us who are moving up in stakes to be able to ask you guys questions and start discussions about general/hypothetical situations. I've noticed we've had a lot of questions lately about tournament play, and I think this is one subject that fits in perfectly.

unfortunately without a stickie, this thread gets buried... plus some browsers might prefer not to view so many pages of old entries.. i dunno

here is an example of format/content for "the well" link

just a way to have fun and interview the more experienced people. obvious candidates would include: Buzz, Felicia, Gergery, Tx, Niss, myself, Mendacious, Tuco, etc.

I really like the well idea. Thanks for posting the example.

The low content thread. I've seen it before, but I've never understood it's purpose. Seems like a good place to ask.

My dare to dream, someday the group wants me in the well. LOL. Right now I'm almost waiting for them to ban me from posting.

I like the well idea. I also think people should post more interesting hands. I will start doing this. If people follow everything will be dandy.

Any interest in a regularly scheduled 2+2 donkament (err, tournament)? This might provide decent fodder for hand discussions too.

I'm ok with doing one eventually. My intentions aren't totally self-glorification though... our forum is really boring here though which we should work on.

Im not sure why we need Beset or Felecia's go ahead to do this. Just do it. (Also, I think Beset may no longer be a mod).
Would it get the ball rolling if I just started asking you some questions?

1) you (from what I read in your posts here and in LJ) were basically a pretty mediocre $200 PLO8/NLO8 until about half a year ago, and now you kick ass. What sparked the change? Any sudden realizations, any changes in play? Or did you just move up levels and find out that the play wasnt any better than at the lower stakes?

2) You seem to get in an ungodly number of hands. How many tables on average are you playing. How many hours a day do you play?

3) What are the biggest strategy adjustments from PLO8 to NLO8?

4) Is your name meant to be read as "Dave Breal" or "Dave Be Real"?

5) Which AC games do you play and why? How is the LO8 out there?

6) Seems from your blog like youre playing a lot more SH and HU than you used to. Is that just because thats whats available/profitable at higher limits, or is this a change in preference/focus on your part?

7) What non-PLO8 games do you play, and which are you best at? I think I remember something about a WCOOP FT in stud.


Ill think of some others later. That should be enough to put you in at least a pit, if not a well.

Wells are awesome and yours is a good read dave. And I am no longer a mod. I nominated some names to Mat and Ryan for a new O8 mod but they are reviewing the user-moderation system and not adding new mods at the moment. So essentially this forum is on it's own! Use the mod nitifcation button if you see spam or something
