Aussie Millions Updates on 2+2\'ers

Ill be posting updates as much as i can on the 2+2'ers that are in today,

Nath-26K
Gobbo-45K
Shaniac-40K

From what i know this all thats in today.

Nath hasnt played many hands, Missed a bet or 2 on one hand where he forgot what the BB was

Gobbo is on a 'tough' table with seidel, mel judah and aussie pro billy argyos.
But is clearly not worried and is playing very very well.

Mods if this isnt the right spot, sorry just thought everyone might like some coverage.

Cheers
Dan G

Meh, probably belongs in the Tourney Circuit but I'm sure many people in MTTc will appreciate it here since it's probably mostly about MTTcers. So it stays.

What were the starting stacks? 10k? Also, please toss the average in if you have it.

Gobbo has 50-60k and starting stacks were 20k. Very similar to PCA, except 90min levels.

Dan,

I'm afraid you have Nath mistaken for someone else. The concept that he could have "not played many hands" is statistical improbability.

Ill be doing this all week, and im here for stars so of course Ajunglen will be included

New chip updates also blinds have just gone to 100/200 w/25A

Gobbo 45K
Nath 35K he is very happy
Shaniac 40K
Alex Jacob 22K- Just saw him, as he is on the other side of the room where my players are.

Nath and Gobbo are quite happy/excited with this structure and are looking to "tear this tourney up"

Nath just had AA raised and all folded then next hand has AQsooted and raised and gets 4 callers think he check-folded after substantial action, AA v JJ on a baby flop.

More updates to come.

They got Aaron's age wrong (he's 20), and I was there =(

It was hilarious when gobbo was saying how awful Australians are while he was surrounded by a bar full of them.

Re: Aussie Millions Updates on 2+2\'ers

quotes re: gobbo:

" PokerStars Party

In a room full of wily and wildly attractive old pro's as gathered for last night's PokerStars Aussie Millions party, you'd think the wild optimism of youth might be scarce.

But that would be modesty, and that's not poker is it?

"Ma'am, I am going to crush this competition" Jimmy Fricke from Mahomet, Illinois told me. "The play I've seen here so far, this tourney is mine!"

In truth I had wandered over to Jimmy and his posse to gently make sure they were of legal drinking age. They were, in Australia at least, but none of them were old enough to have a beer or gamble at home in the USA.

As I chatted to nineteen year old Jimmy and his buddies, Cameron,19 and Aaron, 18 ...

... So, daunting company Jimmy? Not in the slightest. "I'm a pro" he said. And a later trawl around the internet showed me that he has cashed more than $40 000 in the past six months, with his most recent result 22nd place in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure No Limit Hold'Em championship last week in the Bahamas.

Jimmy dropped out of Maths and Computer studies at College to focus on his game. "My peers at college probably earn a hundred bucks a week in their part time jobs, I'm making ten times that already."

So what's his strategy for today? "In the beginning, accumulate chips. In the middle game, pick up a lot of pots, and in the end game, I am not going to make a single mistake because that might cost me everything."

Sounds just like a pro. I'll let you know how he does."

"**update** 4.30pm

A quick lap around the tournament floor shows some of our players building healthy stacks early in the competition. With the average stack at 21.5k, David Papallo has 40k and Jimmy Fricke, who told me last night (see PokerStars Party report) "Ma'am I am going to crush this tournament" is on a very pretty 43k."

edit: btw: "a later trawl around the internet showed me that he has cashed more than $40 000 in the past six months" -- lol

A FRICKEn lesson

Jimmy Fricke is showing the big guns of Seidel, Judah and Argyros how to do it. Over running them with consistant aggressive betting. Jimmy now up to 50K.

Extracurricular Table Activities

In between mucking hands early on Day 1, one player was caught watching porn on his iPod by one of our roving reporters.

That may be the worst thing I've ever heard.

A FRICKEn miracle
Let me be the first to tell you Jimmy Fricke is blessed. On a board reading Fricke moves all in with , only to be called by the young Robert Kay who holds . A great call by Rob, the turn is the and with everyone in the crowd watching the case peels off for Robert to jump up and scream his lungs out, while Jimmy remains motionless and yet again scoop in another big pot. The way things are going its Jimmy Frickes to lose.

these are both true

i got moved to a new and tougher table and within one orbit i flopped a king-high flush and went broke to the ace-high flush

i've been on the worst run in my life at the crown poker room, i don't even want to be here anymore

ZOMG!!!! Gobbo did cover this guy he started the hand with 40K villain only had 15k-18k. Gobbo is running this table.

After just chatting to him on a break, he said he prob shoulda folded the hand but it was too tough to get away from, even though the other player was very tight. But did try to bluff gobbo ealier.

Nath, bad luck on getting knocked out.

highly unlikely, pokerstars recruits by certain stereotypes (old guy, hot chick, world champions etc), and yellowsub will likely take the "internet poker nerd" category when pokerstars talks to him when he turns 21.

jk we have no idea if PS will talk to him but jeff turns 21 before gobbo, so it doesnt look bright for gobbo unless he terminates everyone at PCA next year.

oh and GO GOBBO

Also, kudos on more good press.

gogogo gobbo! i love the fact that he told PSblog that he was going to win the tournament. Combined with the confidence he showed during his card player interview about the williams hand, i expect the press to be all over him. Obviously with the age of internet sponsorship etc. this can only be good thing well done sir.

Re: Aussie Millions Updates on 2+2\'ers

Gobbo just 4 bet Seidel pf and showed Q5s.

God, what a sicko.

He's also at the "feature table/tv table", unfortunately they don't start recording until Day 2. Fortunately he's [censored] gobboboy and will obv be at the final table, ensuring tv time.

That said, I'm going to sleep. Seven 90min levels + breaks sounds pretty grueling, which is what I have to look forward to tomorrow.

danielg 01-14-2007 08:15 AM

Re: Aussie Millions Updates on 2+2\'ers

gobbo just oozes confidence in his own ability, the seidel hand just go's to show how much he has been running this table, also on gobbo's first and only table so far, there are 5-6 of the original starters, and he has over 85K now.

Shaniac ran KK into AA and was down to 16K, he is now back upto over 38K

Adam def get some sleep its going to be a very long day tommorow, thats what i have to look forward to also.

Just lost an 80k pot or so against some guy I floated and ended up showing down my hand (king high) when I called a bet on the flop. He played the hand really badly and ended up calling allin with one pair on the turn when I had a worse top pair. I decided he couldn't call a push, but heyo, he could.

Alright, last level of the night. Antonius has over 200k. I'm down to about 55k.

Yuv 01-14-2007 09:13 AM

Re: Aussie Millions Updates on 2+2\'ers

I like have no idea what's going on. Is the play still on? Cause the listing has gobbo at 95k, is that final for the day or are they still in the last level?

GO JIMMY!
