parameters of the match
OK KKF, I see that you said that you are ready to roll. Here are the parameters of the match that I propose. If you object to any of them, post or pm me.
1. We will play heads up 10-25 until one of us wins $50,000 from the other. 2. fsu player will serve as the moderator. We will each transfer $10,000 to his account. He will hold that money and return it to us when the match is completed. However, if either of us backs out of the match before it is completed, fsu will send the entire $20,000 to that person. 3. We will play between the hours of 9:30-4:30 EST Monday through Friday until the match is completed. I reserve the right to deal with situations, such as my son getting sick, etc that will pull me away for a given day or couple of days. You can do the same with legitamate reason. 4. At no point will we play deeper than 15% of the match amount. In other words, if and when we BOTH have stacks over $7500, we will close that table and open a new one. The reason that I am stipulating this is that I want the match to be decided on our merits and skill as poker players. If we allow the stacks to balloon, I don't want one or two critical hands - lost coin flip, etc - determining the match. This stipulation will of course create the greatest likelihood that the best player will win. I think that is all I have. I understand that you are out of the country - is that correct? If so, I would also like to get your IP address when we start playing so that I can verify that it is really you playing me and not some ringer. As you know, I live in Boston and would be willing to do the same for you. Let me know if you agree to these conditions. I will not be checking 2+2 over the weekend. I may or may not log on later today. If you agree to all this, we can start the match this Tuesday (after confirming everything on Monday). We could probably even start on Monday if you like. |
Re: parameters of the match
Samo,
1. We will play heads up 10-25 until one of us wins $50,000 from the other. In your other thread you said 'We will play for a total of $50,000. The match is over when one player loses $50,000.' Best to clarify which condition holds prior to the match starting |

Samo,
I think you meant [ QUOTE ] However, if either of us backs out of the match before it is completed, fsu will send the entire $20,000 to THE OTHER person. [/ QUOTE ] Good luck! |

If one person is down exactly 50K it is guaranteed the other person will be up less than 50K. While this may not end up mattering, it would be good to clarify. |

Re: parameters of the match
The whole thing about IP is just not viable I'd say, it's all too easy to work around this using proxies/re-rout traffic/etc.
As for that, you will both just have to trust each other, this being way much more about honor than money. 50k is of course a substantial amount, but not to the degree that it is worth more than honor and self-respect to either player (I hope), and thus this should really not be an issue. Had there been an easy way to control this then fine, but since there is not, this is one stipulation that is just not enforcible. |

I'm sure that would be enough to satisfy him, as FSU said I doubt some ringer is flying out to Thailand to play. KKF will, of course, just have to trust Samo. |
Re: parameters of the match
Don't these guys both claim to be the best HU player in the world? Who would they get to sub for them? Even if there were 2-3 other guys who are better, it is definitely not to anyone's advantage for them to stop playing 300/600 HU or whatever in order to play 10/25 against another top player. Just STFU and play normally without any retarded IP conditions...

"so that I can verify that it is really you playing me and not some ringer." Let the trash talking begin! |

Re: parameters of the match

[/ QUOTE ] I think the real issue is that KKF wouldn't cheat anyway because he believes he's better HU than anyone else (or at least than anyone he could get to play). This is especially true considering he'd probably have to give his "ringer" a cut of the action, in which case he'd have to be significantly worse than the ringer for it to be worth it for him as opposed to just playing himself with a smaller edge but higher expectation. |
Re: parameters of the match
sorry to nit this up, but I'd offer some provision where you can mutually decide to quit and each get the 10k back. For example, let's say you played 50k hands and you are both roughly even, maybe it'd be in both your best interests to just call it a tie.

excellent point zeebo. will edit the OP now ...

Re: parameters of the match
Can't seem to edit it.
Condition #5: The match can be ended my mutual agreement at any time, in which case fsu will return the 10K to each of us. |
Re: parameters of the match
samo, I was thinking about that provision, and I thought of a potential problem. One of you might want to end it, and the other one doesn't, so they might try unnecessary stalling (waiting until you time out before making every move) in order to make the other person just want to end it. If someone tries to unnecessarily stall (as determined by fsu) they should lose their 10k.

Re: parameters of the match
"We will play between the hours of 9:30-4:30 EST Monday through Friday until the match is completed."
I rarely play long sessions HU over 2 hours, and this isnt exactly a big time frame. I realize that you are a family man(or that the computer lab closes in your retirement home closes), so it would be a big help if you could extend these hours or include weekends. I would also like to play more then one table at a time. I know that you claimed that you would do this after you got comfortable HU, but it has been alluded to that you have been playing HU often on UB already. If you are unwilling to play more then one table immediately, then I would like regulataions on when you begin to play more tables. I will be in Thailand, a twelve hour difference, and I rarely sleep during the night, so I should be around during the hours you are awake. However, with only a seven hour time frame, and my fluctuating sleep schedules, it is going to be likely that at some point I will be sleeping through 50%+ of our "playing hours". All of this is really giving me a headache, and seems pretty unimportant for these stakes. If we were playing for $100K, it would be different. It seems like it would be alot easier for me to say "I am susha_da on UB. If you want to play, come and play" and let that be the end of it. What kind of schedule(# of tables and session length) are you planning on playing with? I have a 30 hour flight starting Monday morning EST. |

[/ QUOTE ] KKF, I would prefer to play continuously from 9:30-4:30. However, if you are unwilling or unable to accomodate that (very understandable given your location), I am willing to shorten the hours to any of your choosing. However, my wife works a "normal" job and my ten-month old son is in day care. It is impossible for me to play evenings or weekends because (a) my son requires constant attention at this age; and (b) that is the time that I spend with my family. So although I understand your request to extend the playing hours to evenings and weekends, I would hope that you understand that I cannot do that. That being said, I am willing to accomodate any playing schedule that you choose as long as it falls within the timeframe that I presented. About playing multiple tables, I fully expect that I will be able and willing to play two tables. However, I would like to get in the flow of the match before commiting to this. You say that you would like some regulations placed on this: do you have anything that you would like to propose? |
