2007 WSOP SCHEDULE

So Harrah's released the 2007 WSOP schedule. All I can say is thank you Negreanu and whoever else was on the WSOP advisory committee. It's got plenty of hold'em, but very few hold'em only events in proportion to other events. There's 3 7 stud hi/lo tourneys, and also 3 HORSE tourneys, a SHOE tourney, and a lot of other mixed events. I'm pumped!

LINK: OOOOOOOOOOOH BABY!!!

Re: 2007 WSOP SCHEDULE

FINALLY!!!!!!!, they added a PLO8 event, a $1500 buyin on June 25th. I will definitely be there. I only hope they have competent enough dealers to deal this tournament, so we don't end up seeing only 10-15 hands per level.

Re: 2007 WSOP SCHEDULE

I'm planning on playing in one of the lower buy in events, specifically Event 6, the $1500 limit hold em event. Will I start with only 1500 in chips (my assumption)? If not, how many will I start with?

I predict that this will be the fastest tournament ever, and will also have more people eliminated on the first hand than ever before.

How about the Heads Up tournament they added, very nice.

Re: 2007 WSOP SCHEDULE

Main event - looks like they are going with 3 day 1's with 3000 players each instaed of 4 with about 2200. Also, looks like no second chance tournaments this year during/after the main event.

MikeRice 01-10-2007 12:49 AM

Re: 2007 WSOP SCHEDULE

Second-Chance Tournaments From June - July 3:
$1,060 Buy-In No-Limit Hold'em tournaments will take place daily at 7 PM.

Second-Chance Tournaments From July 9 - 16:
$550 Buy-In No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at 7 PM.

I guess I should have read the entire story instaed of just the schedule. Thanks for the headsup Mike.

the second chance ones still go for the action, but bracelets shouldn't be handed out for those events like last year.

Hellmuth's 10th bracelet was before the main event. He did finish 3rd in a post-ME tournament.

Unfortunately, yes you will only start with 1500 chips which is why I'm not a big fan of WSOP tournaments at buy-ins under $3K. You pay $2K for an event, get 2,000 in chips, one PF raise and continuation bet could be 25% of your stack!

That being said, I'll probably take a shot at one of those prelims anyway.

Man, that is a pretty sweet schedule. There are some beefs but it'a huge step in the right direction. It looks like they are actually listening to the players. Good for them.

Except that, for a Limit Event, the blinds start at $25/$50 (at least they did last year), so you do have enough chips to make a few moves.

Why not? I played in a $1500 buy-in event that started on about day 4 of the main event. There were over 1000 entries including a lot of top quality pros that had busted out of the main event.

Wow, great schedule. This is better than the World series of Hold'em, much better

2 2-7 TD events, mixed games etc.

But what about event 5: Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low-8 or Better (3 day event)

Is that Limit Omaha & Limit Seven card stud hi/low, or Limit Omaha hi/low & Seven card stud hi/low?

Last year in one of the $1K events I believe they started at 2K in chips. It might also have been a 1.5K and 2 or 3 in chips. It was one event though.

Also, Good Luck WSOP in getting 9,000 in the main event. Set your goal for 5K and be happy if you get that.

The $1,000 event started with 1.5k in chips as did the $1,500 buy-in events. These events are not structured very well. Unless it's a WSOP bracelet you want to play for there are better options in Vegas at these prices.

Published 10/18 on pokerlistings.com

Thompson said that the registration policy for the WSOP wasn't changed by the enactment of the UIGEA.

"There has been no change in our registration policy," he said. "We do not accept third-party registrations from online pay-to-play poker sites that do business with U.S. residents. We didn't do that in 2005 or 2006 either."

http://www.pokerlistings.com/tentati...-for-2007-wsop

Based on how we would define 3rd party registrations we know that that isn't true.

Re: 2007 WSOP SCHEDULE

Are they saying that we still had to show and "finalize" the registration (i.e., the poker sites just listed us and deposited money in escrow or something but we had to personally "register")? I don't remember exactly how things went down last year.

Adding 100 tables to the room, to 300.
They are calling some (12) "World Championship XXX", rest not.
So "first day" of ME, play down from 3000ish to 1000ish?

Yeah, I'm really confused by this too.

If Stars didn't buy my seat in 2005 then how the hell did I get in?

Stars sent in the money in my name. I showed up and picked-up my registration-card which was already waiting for me.

So I have no idea what they mean by "no 3rd party registrations from online sites" if evidently what they did for me (and several thousand players over the past few years) evidently isn't that.

this just doesn't make any sense at all.

FWIW - UB is already running satellites for the WSOP.

I'm assuming that FT and Stars will be soon also.

Also note that one of the prizes for Supernova Elite on Stars is a WSOP package.

Re: 2007 WSOP SCHEDULE

Considering the guidlines that Harrah's gave the players council, I have to say that I think they did an excellent job listening to the players concerns and put together a schedule that benefits all parties.

The added events should be fun, and I'm REALLY hoping that there is a decent turn out for the Stud H/L events otherwise I'll end up with egg on my face. Being a vegan, that's not a good thing.

I fought really hard to include a higher buy in Stud H/L event, as well as the mixed game event with just the two H/L games. You could actually play a pretty full slate of events this year without being a hold'em player. Great Success! I Like...

So, what is the format of the Mixed Holdem events?

One orbit of Limit, followed by an orbit on NL, or what?

Thanks...

Based on how we would define 3rd party registrations we know that that isn't true.

Thanks for the link. I didn't see that comment before. It seems I can still look forward to blowing lots of money on sats.

I'm not sure how the policy reconciles with reality, though. Are the seats being bought by pokerstars.net, so it's OK?

I don't know...but I was just thinking about mixed NL and limit. How would they overcome the huge swings a NL stack can take? So at the final table when the average stack has 30x BB it's gonna have 15 big bets? It seems like the stacks at limit hold'em final tables are usually a lot shallower than that...so everyone will just be waiting out the limit hold'em phase to get to NL so they can accumulate chips quickly.
