Favorite threads on 2+2

Does anyone else toggle their favorite threads on 2+2? Here is my list, I consider them all to be "must reads" for newbies like myself. I'm sure I missed some, so please post what your favorites are.

1. Trying to make a living Online
The first weekly post by davidross. It's 44 weeks later and he's still posting the updates.

2. An Opinion Poll As To Best Sites
Probably a little outdated, but a nice long thread with peoples opinions on various poker sites.

3. 15-30: Maniacs force one to make tough decisions
One of the first posts I read, I realized I had a lot to learn

4. implied odds preflop
The advice from Dynasty in this thread is fantastic.

5. AAAAaaarrrggggg!! Dealing with aggresive players.
Again, great comments from Dynasty, a very interesting thread.

6. Mirage 10-20: Drawing with a gut-shot and an overcard
Very interesting hand, I am again reminded how much I have to learn.

7. Some questions concerning flush draws...
Great reply by Ed Miller.

8. Huge Pot
I learned the value bet/raise from this thread. I think this thread turned me into a winning microlimit player

9. Just a bad beat right?
Good reply by Ed Miller on "charging flush draws".

10. Player notes discussion
Nice long thread on player notes, the reply by MS Sunshine is especially good.

11. The damn Fish!!!!! Loose games RANT!
Great post by Joe Tall! I have sent a couple buddies here after they complain to me about fish in their games. This changed their opinion

12. Running bad or playing badly?
I read this during a bad run of cards, made me feel a lot better.

13. Rant series updated.
Links to four rants by Lori. All of them are great posts, funny to read and great advice.

14. Why you guys aren't crushing these Microlimit games...
Fantastic post by Ed Miller, it got bumped a few days ago and got me thinking about making this post.

15. BisonBison's Hand Converter: Limit, NL & PL HE Party Hands
Extremely useful, this scrpit by BisonBison will change the forums forever.

I love the favorite threads...here are mine:

Evolution of a 2+2 Absolutely hilarious and totally true.

Great thread about the old school posters

Ulysses and some serious rationalization

Fossilman's report from the 10K buyin event at FW

and finally

2 words, pattern maps

Jek's comments to party support made me spit water on my monitor.

From 9. That majorkong guy scares me. He sure knows a lot about poker. he should write a book. This quote is outstanding.

I was actually thinking a while ago that I wonder if David & Mason have thought of making a book of various post from this forum. Much like one of Mason's Poker Essay books. Seems like it would be cool.

Great list. I have to second many of these and many of the replies as well. Evolution of a 2+2er is one of the first threads that really made an impression on me.

Now I can bookmark just this thread, instead of each one individually.

Ed Miller has originated several excellent threads (preflop quiz, why you guys are'nt crushing the game, etc.). Wading through his posts, I am sure I have missed several key threads of this nature.

What are his key "teaching" threads, and how far back has he been doing this?

Re: Favorite threads on 2+2

Thought I'd drag this thread up again and post some of my own favourites:

1. Five things LL players should unlearn by Clarkmeister with lots of great input from others

2. Defending your blinds - Clarkmeister posted this recently in the mid-high stakes forum, it's an excellent thread.

3. General Advice on Big Bet hold'em by ArtVandelay. Useful discussion for limit players who don't play much NL.

4. Loose Games - not giving them the correct odds to chase with input from a few very intelligent and thoughtful posters, although they're not the big forum names. David Sklansky also posted in this thread.

5. Great post by Homer for beginners at LLHE

6. Pot Odds after the flop - There's an excellent reply here by Nottom which is where I really began to understood how to work out if I could bet for value on the flop.

7. Pre-flop take off the training wheels - by Ed Miller (majorkong). I'm pretty sure that someone already posted this, but just in case they didn't.

8. raising jacks out of the small blind - by a bunch of people. A classic thread.

9. So I 3-bet to find out where I stood... - by Ed Miller/MK.

10. Streaks thread by Homer I think someone has already posted this too but just in case.

Hopefully more people will post their favourites.

This thread deserves a bump every now and then, the links are such a great resource it would be a shame for people to miss them. But I wouldn't do it unless I had something to add, and here they are:

Low-limit Preflop Quiz, by Ed Miller.
Another well thought out post by the NPA. 20 questions where the low limit player can get some great pre-flop practice, followed up by an excellent discussion.

A Trip Report I Never Posted, by Inthacup.
This is the funniest trip report ever! Make sure to read all the replies to (especially those from the others that came on the trip). This is what Vegas is all about!

Re: Favorite threads on 2+2

If you accept the proposition that the best threads tend to get the most views, then just click on the word "Views" at the top of a list of posts, and you will get to see the most popular threads in that forum.

I use this approach all the time when I want to read a good long informative thread instead of today's current topics.

Re: Favorite threads on 2+2

is there a way of adding a thread to your favourites without making a post? Like I am doing here!

JaredL 06-13-2004 09:56 AM

Re: Favorite threads on 2+2

in the bottom left of the frame look for "extra information" under it should be something like "favorite thread toggle" simply click that and it will be added. Since most of my favorite threads are made by people smarter than me most of my favorites were made so this way.

Great post.

I know I'm getting to this post a little late, but like this one I wish I could post replys to some of those. Hey, maybe if some people started posting replys and getting some of those posts going again, we could just pick it right back up ... unless the final word has been said on a topic ... ha.
