college beat

I am sitting here at my profs office waiting for him to come so I can talk to him about my grade. I don't have much time but the jist of it is that I got a D when I needed a C-. Because I don't have this C- I will be kicked out of the University. (UMN) I was 60 points away from a C- out of 1000 total points.
Even though I got a B on both my lab final and lecture final they still don't think I deserve the C-. what bitches. anyway i gtg . wish me luck

brag: none
beat: life
varience: posting on 2+2 before a huge meeting that will determine the rest of my life.

I never understood people who would take the time and money to go to school, then get this close to being kicked out and NOT take the (likely minimal) preparations to make sure they DIDN'T get kicked out. How little motivation can you have?

whipsaw 01-05-2007 04:33 PM

Re: college beat

60 points is 6%. So you got a 64% and are arguing that you were SOOOOO close to a C- that you should get bumped up? Lame.

Re: college beat

If anyone goes to class at least 50% of the time, and isn't a complete retard, maintaining a 2.0 in college is unbelievably easy.

So, you are either retarded or lazy. You should probably try and fix one of those for your next try at college, because if you are 6% below the cutoff for C-, there is absolutely no way you are staying in school unless it involves a gay prof and a lot of fellatio.

Good luck at community college.

I put in what I consider to be the least amount of effort this semester. I wrote the papers on time, studied for tests the night before, and got an A and four B's. I don't know how any moderately intelligent person would be incapable of this.

I gotta go with the flow here and say I've never seen someone get a D who didn't earn it.
That said I hope you can talk him into raising the grade so we can hear this story again in 4 months.
Would read again.

i hate you all. here is the story. this is a bio requirement that doesn't even count toward my technical GPA. I slacked off for about half the semester and was planning on dropping the course at the last sec because if I waited long enough I still can be considered a "Full time" student. I do this so I can get free health insurance. Anyway my ass hole adviser forgot about our meeting that I planned a week in advance to go on some fishing trip to Canada (I am in the College of Food and Environmental Sciences... Major: Applied Econ). because of his dick head move I couldn't drop the course. I meet with my Profs of this class and told them what happened. Anyway I was getting like 40% because like I said I already was planning on dropping the course. I turned in aprox. 450 points of late work and starting turning in everything and regularly attended lecture and labs. Studied hard and earned a B on both lec and lab like i said. So thats the real story.

cliffs notes:

i tried to scam the system to get free health insurance like a total douchebag.

it backfired.

now i feel i'm entitled to a move up in my grade because after all i was honest with my professor about the fact that i was just treating his class like a joke to get free health insurance. after all, i did show that had i worked, i could have done better than a D, and that's just like actually having earned the grade.

similar $30 prize for anyone excluding op who notifies op's health insurance co of his attempted fraud.

op, also, if this is a distributional requirement, why didn't you just take it and actually do the work, which would have gotten the requirement out of the way?

whatever, like i said, i just hope it bites you in the ass.

You blew off this class and tried to make it up at the end. The prof let you turn in 450/1000 points worth of late work, but you still can't hack a high enough grade on the final & lab to get a C-. Then, before the meeting where you'll beg him for a favor you post on the internet how he's a bitch?

I'm willing to bet OP didn't pay a penny of his own money for school. Most likely he is one of those people whose parents cheat on their taxes so he gets all kinds of monies from our government without having to pay it back.

Either that or his parents pay for it all of course.

Surprising that people who have everything given to them don't try at all or put any effort in what so ever isn't it?

I'd like to say that not everyone whose parents pay for college completely slack off. I have three brothers and sisters. My parents paid for all of our college educations. All graduated except one (who attended 1/2 a year at Dean Two-Year)—she's an artist so it didn't work out...

Xanta 01-06-2007 12:39 PM

Re: college beat

Obviously not everyone that is paid for slacks off, but it is way more likely that you're going to slack off if you're not going through on your own dime. Both of my parents can testify to that after being cut off by their parents after first year idiocy, taking a year off to work, then coming back way more motivated than before.

Just contemplating what I'd have to do financially to make university work for me right now makes my head spin.

First off I did not blame anyone for what happened. I just think I deserve a C- and my profs think I don't. Also it was my advisor's fault by missing a academic meeting that dramatically changed someone's (my) future.

Attempted fraud? What do you think working the system means? There is no fraud in what I was attempting to do. See...what working the system means is that you try to take advantage of the "system" by finding a legal way to make the system to work in your advantage.

so you offer money to people to try to get me in trouble with the law? Yes. in fact you are an ass hat.

Like I said before, I think I deserve the C-. saying "what bitches" doesn't mean I blame them, rather it means that I dislike their decision.
the 450 was cut in half because you can turn in any late work for 1/2 credit. anyway. I understand this is BBV and so on but these aren't the run of the mill flames. I don't know what I did that made everyone hate me...tried to get free health insurance? Yes it would fall under my parents insurance plan but what is wrong with that? I am not going to apologize for for my parents decision to help me out with college. My parents and my financial situation is none of your business.

not to be a dick, but 3 hours of studying does not mean you "studied hard". i wouldn't consider anything less than 10 hours "hard studying", and i know a lot of people who study a LOT more. 3 is cramming, and barely cramming at that.
