Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
thanks for the heads up. I don't know how I'll like it without Caesar around.
|
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
Same night as the triumphant return of Jack Bauer. Thank god for DVR.

Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
Anyone know if this will show up early On Demand like The Wire? |
Rome is Incredible....

I sent the dvds back to netflix unwatched the show was that bad. I don't know that I've ever seen a show make it to 6 seasons that was that terrible. What am I missing? |

"24" is popularly and critically acclaimed. You're definitely in the vast minority here, so maybe you should be the one justifying your opinions? The question isn't about what you're missing---my question is this: What are you watching that's so much better? |
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
so excited! this is probably my favorite show.
|
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
Just finished watching the whole first season On Demand. Awesome show. Looking forward to next season.

Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
what is this about ? immediately after caesars death or is it more about the war between octavian and antony?
|
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
I like Rome, but was a little disappointed as to how "soap opera-esque" it was. I was expecting more of a Band of Brothers type of show.
I'm still pumped for the new season though - one of the few shows the wife and I both like. |
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
This is the final season, right?
I assume it will detail the Antony/Octavian v. Brutus/Cassius war. Anyone seen The Seventh Seal? Vorenus/Pullo are an homage to the knight and squire. |
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
Word is that the first episode was leaked online, but has an HBO watermark in the middle of the screen. I plan on waiting to watch it next Sunday I don't have to wait 2 weeks before the 2nd episode.

Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
I've only watched the first 2 episodes of Season 1 so far, but it seems like a pretty good show (standard for HBO). Not as addictive as The Wire or others, but the historical element of it is nice. I'm guessing S2 goes more into development with Octavian's character and the war w/him and Antony?

Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
hbo.com has a couple of trailers up for season 2 that look phenomenal. Vorenus looks to be the most interesting character this season.
I'm almost done rewatching season 1 on demand right now and it's very interesting the second time through. I had forgotten that Vorenus put the beatdown on Pullo in episode one, and is clearly the tougher guy, and I think that contributes highly to Pullo's respect for him. Also it's obvious to me now that Pullo is a much smarter man than Vorenus, but he's undisciplined and he let's his lusts/greed overcome his common sense. favorite characters: 1- Octavian 2- Vorenus 3- Pullo Any disagreement there? |
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
Octavian. Octavian??? He's a sissy. Any kid who would rather paint his sister's toenails than visit a brothel cannot be my favorite character.
Vorenus tops my list, nosing out Pullo in the photo finish. Caesar was cool, but I guess he's gone, so I can't put him on this list. I'll give third place to Brutus, who reminds me of Ben Affleck before he got his teeth fixed. |
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
Ugh, Octavian is a smug little prick. [censored] him.
Vorenus, Pullo 1/2. Now that Caesar is dead, maybe Timon 3rd? |

It starts right after the assassination, but I'm certain the show covers a long period of time. I'd guess it will end with Octavian cementing control. This is such a great show; I wish there was more stuff like this on TV. |

[/ QUOTE ] I believe that Octavian will become a much better character this season especially since he will take the spotlight against Mark Anthony. I liked Pullo just a little better then Vorenus, the arena scene sealed my decision. I am really excited to see season 2, I plan to DVR 24 while watching Rome. |
Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
There are two new featurettes in the On Demand section. Looks hot.

Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
I'm really excited to see what happens this season. It looks like Mark Antony will take control, but somehow they seem to be hinting that Octavian might be somehow involved as well.... Should be exciting to see what happens, and whatever it is, I 'm sure I won't be expecting it! They got all kind of wrinkles in the first season, I totally didn't see Ceasar getting snuffed like that, that really shook me up. Maybe the season will open with him waking up and it being a dream?

One of them totally spoiled the best scene of the season. I won't be watching the Season Two featurettes, until I've seen all of Season Two. |

You haven't watched Deadwood yet? All your riffing on "The Wire" and you haven't watched HBO's best series ever? Make Deadwood your next project. You will not regret. |

Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
Dude, if you saw all that stuff coming, you should move to Hollywood and get your screenwriting props. Brilliant!

Re: **OFFICIAL Rome Season 2 Thread**
BTW: Why do Roman= British actors? Is it me, or does it just seem proper for them to have British accents? They can do the whole accent thing as well, to differentiate class, which works for both English and Roman society.... (I know this is a British production, but can you think of an American production?? I don't remember what the accents were like in Gladiator.... did Spartacus have American accents?)

[/ QUOTE ] It's quite common in American productions for the actors to speak in British accents, in an effort to sound more European. Ever see Les Miserables on stage? It takes place in France, but everybody sounds British. |
