boxers and MMA fighters
is it just vaseline they put on their faces before fights and between rounds? what does that actually do?
|
Re: boxers and MMA fighters
So that the punches literally slide right off of them.

Re: boxers and MMA fighters
IIRC, it's because of bleeding. They us it on cuts and bruises so the blood won't gush.

Re: boxers and MMA fighters
off topic question:
if Butterbean went into professional boxing (heavyweight obv), how would he do? |
Re: boxers and MMA fighters
I am guessing he would be about 75 wins with 56 knockouts, 7 losses and 4 draws...

off topic question: if Butterbean went into professional boxing (heavyweight obv), how would he do? [/ QUOTE ] He does toughmans. He's called "master of the 4 rounder" or something ridiculous. I think in a 12 rounder most top 100-500 pros and amateurs would beat him simply by running for 4-6 rounds and dominating the last half of the fight while he gasps for breath. |
Re: boxers and MMA fighters
He would die. A more fun question would be, what would happen if Bob Sapp went into Pro Boxing.
|
Re: boxers and MMA fighters
Butterbean knocked down Larry Holmes in the tenth, in a losing effort.
He also won the IBA World Super Heavyweight Championship in 1997. |

Re: boxers and MMA fighters
This is partially true, but the larger benefit is that it keeps the face moisturized and protected so the skin is less likely to split, kind of like how people put vaseline on their lips in the winter.

Re: boxers and MMA fighters
FWIW, the IBA is not considered a real title. Also, Super Heavyweight is not a generally recognized division. The title fights were 4 rounders, while any recognized title fight is scheduled for 12 rounds. Larry Holmes was 52, and beat him handily. Against any real boxer he would be either KTFO or the fight would be stopped due to accumulation. The 130 lb version of Mayweather would UD butterbean 120-108 on all cards.

Re: boxers and MMA fighters
Err, so you're saying that a fighters face cant get chapped and cause cuts to open?

I knew somebody would get it eventually. |
