One Song on repeat for 6 hours...
 

A few of my good friends rushed a fraternity my freshman year of college and they told me they were forced in a room one night and Phish's album version of "Maze" was just played on the speakers over and over for hours , while noone was allowed to talk. Maze can definitely get annoying by the end of one listen, to listen to it 50 times sounds like borderline torture for sure.

If you could pick one song that you would choose to hear if u were forced into this situation what would it be?

Also if your worst enemy was in the room, what song would u choose that would be the more unbearable for them to endure.

Song has to be album version and less than 10 minutes long, but atleast 2 minutes long

For enemies: probably something annoying with high pitches by the vengaboys or Hanson Bros. Or just someone singing Happy Birthday over and over again.

Tool - LAME (from the Salival cd)

This would cause one's brain to run out of the first available opening, toot sweet. It's a guy calling LA municipal emergency line and slowly getting frustrated at the ridiculous voice prompts. But what makes it so unbearable is the static thump of the bass drum accompanied simultaneously by a quick, low sounding riff of the guitar. It starts with one, then adds one each time. So it's 1..1,2...1,2,3...1,2,3,4...etc. and goes on for about 6 minutes.

also, Pink Floy's - Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict would kill somebody if they had to listen to it more than once.

It's easily the oddest song i have ever heard.

lol last christmas I had John Lennons "And So This Is Christmas" on repeat for the whole night. Im not really sure why.


I think I would make my enemies listen to "Blue" by Eiffel 65, or maybe the Barney theme song.

Also, Revolution #9 by the Beatles would probably drive someone crazy pretty quickly.

I think it's pretty common. I never even heard of that Pink Floyd song, but I'm pretty sure I listened to it about 100 times in a row.

For myself: Something classical:
Johannes Brahms: German Requiem Selig Sing Die Toten
It also is almost 13 minutes long, so that reduces the amount of times that I have to listen to it.

Enemy- Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega.

When I was a ne'erdowell teenager, there was a clothing store that had a jukebox in it. My friend and I got $5 in quarters, then played "(Theme From) The Monkees" 20 times. It was just starting for the first time when we left. 20 minutes later we walked by and it was still playing.

10 minutes later the jukebox was unplugged.

Meredith Monk - Walking Song.

Most of you probably know the track from The Big Lebowski, when we first run into Maude as she is doing one of her naked painting sessions. Oddly similar to the Floyd song is pure weirdness.

It's 9 minutes long with instrumentals so it's tight.

(fairly reasonably priced)


On several occaisions, right before my friends and I leave, I've dropped like $5 in there for nothing but the Boss crankin out "Born in the USA"

I did this once a little hole in the wall bar & grill. Except the thing wouldn't let you do same song back to back, so for the next hour that bar listened to ABBA "dancing queen" and Ace of Base "Sign". Sweeeeeet.

I would probably choose Seek Up off Dave Matthews Red Rock Album. Its 13 minutes long and a lot of good jamming. You would only have to listen to it 27 times over.

Worst enemy I would put on the theme song to Cheers. Its only a minute long (great power hour song) so you would have to listen to it 360 times in a row.

Also, Banana Phone on repeat would destroy anyone.

Yeah, Ive run into this before.

There is this one bar I go to sometimes that has this rule, but luckily, American Pie is split into AP - Pt1 and AP - Pt2 because of its length, so I can get around it with that.


However... since American Pie is probably my answer to the question "which song would I choose, if I had to (to the OP)" its perhaps not the best song to do this with

Oh man, Fitter Happier by Radiohead is 1:57!!! Just three seconds short of the song I would make my enemies listen to.

With that out of the picture, I'd probably make my enemies listen to Livin La Vida Loca.

For me, I'd listen to Your Ex-Lover is Dead by Stars.

I've actually almost done this to my self voluntarily before, song was :

"Night Falls on Hoboken" by Yo La Tengo

it's like 20 minutes to begin with so you don't get too many repeats.

For enemies you could obviously pick something like a horrible Matmos noise song, or one of the hard noise NiN songs, but the worse torture would be something like Eiffel 65 and that "la bu di la bu dai" song.

For enemy: Around the World by Daft Punk. The song is repetitive and obnoxious for the 3 minutes (or whatever) it's on. After a few hours, it would be insane.

For me: something classical, with little content. More like white noise than music. I can't think of anything of the top of my head.
