Looking for Uncapped NLHE, PLO or Mixed games (w/badugi) in Vegas
Ill be in Vegas next week. Looking for PLO (up to $25/$50) or Mixed games w/Badugi or just straight Badugi up to $10/$20 (for drunk fun).
During the Series outside of the Rio I was able to find some PLO at the Wynn and once at the Venetian. I have heard that theres been some PLO at the Wynn recently. When is a good day to check if theres a game there? Is there anywhere else to check? I played small mixed games at the Venetian and Caesars but then I went back one day and Ceasars said they werent spreading the mixed game anymore. I also heard there was a $3/$6 Badugi game at IP. Id prefer to play straight Badugi just for fun for even small stakes but ill play a mixed game just to be able to play Badugi during part of it. Finally i know theres uncapped NLHE games at Bellagio, Wynn and MGM, what about other places? I heard the Golden Nugget has a small uncapped game any other place with uncapped buyins? |

No PLO in Las Vegas - No High Limit in Las Vegas except at the Bellagio - no where else in Las Vegas - sad but true!

You can get PLO spread at Wynn, but it doesn't run often. I recommend showing up on a weekend early evening to start the list, and ask everyone you see to start the game with you. I've seen it start as short as 4 handed, but you have to do little legwork to get it moving. Last time time I saw it spread earlier this month I think it was 5/5 or 5/10, I forgot. big plo games run at bellagio during tourneys, unlikely any will be going next week but who knows. i heard that a 2-5plo game goes at venetian on thursdays but i haven't had time to go check it out. for mixed games, bellagio often has 40-80 b.o.t., unlikely they spread it as low as 10-20. i think caesars 2-5nl is uncapped. |

One night when it got 3 handed they even let us play Pot Limit Badugi for a while. But then when we were there the next day the floor said they didnt allow Badugi at all. I know you play Badugi a lot. Is there any small limit Badugi or mixed games around town? Does the Venetian still spread the $6/$12 mixed game? |
Re: Looking for Uncapped NLHE, PLO or Mixed games (w/badugi) in Vegas
PLO at the "V" is 5/5 no cap on the buy-in -----
Has been a very good game |

[/ QUOTE ] Rio has been getting 4/8 mix games going many weekends. Generally it's BOT with some 4th game thrown in (EBOT being a favorite). It tends to take the Rio dealers ganging together to get it started, but anybody is welcome to play. Caesars managed to hold a 4/8 HORSE game together for 24 hours this week. I was there to start it Thursday night and it was still running Friday afternoon when I returned (with one of the original players still there). But I had absolutely no luck whatsoever convincing Caesars folks to adjust the HORSE to, say, remove H and S and add B or T. Just a flat "no". And when I later pressed for explanation, I was told "you just don't understand" (which was certainly true). |
Re: Looking for Uncapped NLHE, PLO or Mixed games (w/badugi) in Vegas
According to the floor at Wynn, casinos need to be 'licensed' or some such in every game they spread. Wynn doesn't have Badugi in their license list or rule book, so they are not legally allowed to spread it. We whine about it from time to time when getting the little 4/8 mixed game together, but as of yet they have not added it.

Ive never actually played there except during the series. Ill forget about Caesars I think. Whats the point of playing a mixed game if you have to play HORSE? Id prefer a game where you played every game except HORSE. |

No way id play $400/$800 or anything like that. 40/80 mixed is too big for me. I play limit poker poorly. 10/20 is the most im willing to donate at. Thats right about Caesars being uncapped, I remember I played that game once but the action kind of sucked. |

Doesn't anyone play for any money anymore? 5/5 blind - 5/10 blind - hahahahahaha Time to go to Californicate. Kathy |
Re: Looking for Uncapped NLHE, PLO or Mixed games (w/badugi) in Vegas
5/5 plo prob plays a little less big than 10/20 nlhe. I wouldn't be laughing at it. And yes, the Venetian has been running it on thursdays.

Re: Looking for Uncapped NLHE, PLO or Mixed games (w/badugi) in Vegas
5/5 Blind PLO at Wynn/Caesars= no money on table!
PLEEEEAZE! Get a job-make more! Tunica will be starting - lots of PLO! 5/5 blind PLO money on table is no comparison to 10/20 NLH with no cap - (only at the Bellagio in Las Vegas) waaay more money in the Bellagio - more money on the table in the Wynn at 5/10 NLH than the 5/5 PLO - if it gets started - same with Caesars - depends on how one wants to entertain themselves. Try the 2/5 NLH at the Palms with 1K cap. Lots of action! KATHY |
Re: Looking for Uncapped NLHE, PLO or Mixed games (w/badugi) in Vegas
Treasure Island has a small fix limit mixed game. All sorts of games can be in the mix, badugi, double flop games, triple draw, etc. Great for drunken games.

Re: Looking for Uncapped NLHE, PLO or Mixed games (w/badugi) in Vegas
The place for PLO this time of year is Tunica. Last January, they had 4 5-10 games and 3-4 10-25 games that were usually straddled at the Grand. PLO heaven.

Arnold added that it hadn't been submitted for approval yet. Apparently Bellagio has been spreading Badugi without regard for the commission according to them. In reality I would suspect that the truth exists somewhere between the OP's paragraph and the Wynn's official position. If anyone has an insider at the Gambling commission then it would be interesting to find out the truth. Additionally I learned last night that BOTE has been running at the Rio as 6/12 now, and they are trying to start a regular TORSE 30/60 game at the Wynn. I've told AJ to call me whenever the game gets off the ground, I hope to have a seat waiting for me. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

I would tend to agree with this assertion as generally there are draw games, flop games, and stud games. |

[/ QUOTE ] I got the definitive answer this evening at the Wynn. There was some miscommunication about the "unofficially sanctioned game" status of Badugi in Nevada, as Randy pointed out it is in fact a draw game and therefore legal. However Wynn's management is a firm believer that no games deviations will be spread until all staff have been properly trained - anyone who played at the Rio last year would know that this is a surprisingly good thing to hear since the floor and the dealers had no clue how to deal the game. Oddly enough Badugi rules were handed out to all floor management 2 days ago in preparation for rolling the game out to the staff. Now don't get too excited Badugi fans, this roll out could take weeks, months, or possibly longer - but the goal is to have Badugi high limit games in time for the world series. Remember - there is no guarantee that Wynn will meet this goal, its only the intention of the management. Of course I volunteered to be a crash test dummy while the staff learns TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know. I know the first time I saw the game was in a 300-600 mix game in 2001. The DC grabbed me as I was going towards the table and gave me about a 20 second intro to the game and it was pretty easy. I do see a problem if it was spread as a bottom section game, but I doubt there are mnay bottom section players calling for it. edit to add: I know not all rooms have multiple rotations for the dealers, but I would guess that Wynn does (I know almost nothing abotu the Wynn, I have seen the poker room less than 5 times there). |

Wynn's management is a firm believer that no games deviations will be spread until all staff have been properly trained [/ QUOTE ] I think it's pretty important that the floor people understand the game. The dealer understanding it is less important. The players can coach the dealer through the mechanics and as long as everybody at the table is understanding it goes well. It's when something odd happens that you really need a floor that knows his stuff. If a card is exposed during the deal, how do you handle it? If folks are arguing over how to read 3-card badugi hands, the floor better know the real rule. Stuff like that which the players have a vested interest in and thus cannot be allowed to "help" the dealer with. So yes, I want the floor people to grok the games. No, I don't demand the dealers all be experienced. |

Has the $6/$12 mixed game been going also? [/ QUOTE ] I am going to try and start one saturday afternoon when I am there at the V. I was there in Sept and I played it 3-6 but I dont like that because there is no ante for stud games even though more poeple would be willing to play. 1$ ante with 2$ chips for 6-12 would be nice if they would spread it. I am thinking something like THEBRO is going to make a good mix a lot of people would play. Come splash |

I used to share the same POV as you, but this experience soured me on the idea of having a resident expert on the floor with a dealer who is a neubie to the game. Also you must be aware that not all players who want to sit in on an odd deviant know the rules themselves. 2 nights ago wer were playing TORSE, and 1/2 the table never played Razz, TD, or Stud 8 before- yet there were requests for Badugi and Chinese Poker from two of them. Lots of people don't think the way we do - they are willing to try new games without some background. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
