What do you pay for a Pizza?
So, I'm at home and my mom is ordering a pizza. She talks about getting some weird pizza with the justification that "it's on special." I look up at the computer screen and it's a $13 large pizza from Papa John's. I was like "On special??"
I spend <$5 on a large pizza, but I get 1-topping and am not too picky. (edit: don't count tip) |
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
pizza for 5 bucks wtf?!?
a large pizza from any mainstream place is like 15 bucks here after delivery and taxes at least |
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
I pay 5 dollars for a sandwitch, I don't see how 15 bucks for a large pizza is really that bad of a deal. I'd still prefer to cook it myself for half that price.
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
20-30 dollars
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
K,
These are the places I order from and the pizzas I usually get: http://www.northbeachpizza.com/nbp1_menu.htm (North Beach Special or Verdi Special or Pepperoni/Onion/Extra Cheese) http://st05.startlogic.com/~amicisco/menu_sf.htm (Trentino or Pepperoni and Caramelized Onions or Pancetta and Caramelized Onions) http://www.goathillpizza.com/menu.html (Special Combination or Pepperoni/Onion/Extra Cheese) $20-$25 plus tip for a large pizza. |
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
I get pizzas from the exact same places as El D. Only I choose better toppings.
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
Justin,
Please explain how you are getting pizza for less than five dollars. Also, please start a separate thread so we can discuss how much you should tip on a $4 pizza, because 20% is only 80 cents and somehow that doesn't feel right. This afternoon I ordered a two topping 18" pizza from Rosati's, with delivery charge it came out to a little over $23. I am not a coupon guy but I had one for a free 12" cheese w/purchase of 18" so I used that. I gave the guy $30 as it's the holidays and I was getting a second pizza for free. |

LE,
Let's hear it, bitch. |
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
I didn't realize you have to tip those Peapod guys.
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
ilya,
I dunno about $5, but I know Domino's is super cheap and runs tons of deals. |

Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
never order 1 pizza, at most places 1 pizza is like 13 to 15 bucks, but you can get 2 for about the same price.

Plus with Totino's you get what you pay for. That said, I enjoy the CPK pizzas out of the freezer. Safeway runs specials on them for $5 regularly, and I think their regular retail price is $6. Actually, none of the more expensive ones - Tombstone, Freschetta, others - are bad, but Totino's is awful. |

Justin, Please explain how you are getting pizza for less than five dollars. [/ QUOTE ] I meant =$5 not <$5, oops. Anyway, Little Caesar's here has $5 "Hot-n-Ready" pizzas. They're take-out only ready to go. Pizza is a lot better than I remember it being as a kid. I know CiCi's has a bad rep in a lot of places, but ours here is clean/well-run and I like it. I believe it's $4-5 to-go. Pizza Hut and Papa John's have specials for large 1-topping for $6-$7 pretty regularly. Domino's has specials all the time and you can usually find a large for $5. There's a local place called pizza shuttle that has a 10" pizza and a drink for $4.25. Pretty good deal. Being in a college town there are plenty of other local places with deals at least as good as those above. |

Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
Haha, their pizza is a lot better than I remember.
Maybe I need to start a thread called "eating for cheap ppl" except that cheap ppl already know how to do it. |

Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
If you are paying less than $10 for a pizza that you aren't cooking yourself, then you are eating really [censored] pizza.
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
$12 for a large pizza sounds about right. If I have 2 or more friends with me, we always do the $15 for 3 mediums.
At a local pizza place, always use a coupon. You can always get something more for about the same price, be it some soda or wings or another pizza. |
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
This is a terrible poll. You can't get a speciality/supreme type large pizza for under $12 on sale around here($15+ regularly), so the real question you are asking is "How many toppings do you like on pizza?".
|

That's a pretty good pizza too. A definitely value. |
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
My favorite though is the Papa John's online special($10.99 for a large 3 topping pizza). I always get spicy Italian sausage, pineapple & onions.
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
I usually get a papa murphy family size cowboy or milwaukees favorite for $10.99 w/coupon.
I liked Little Cesaers as a kid (20-25 years ago) but now think it's the worst pizza available. |
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
I pay always less than 6$ for a very good pizza but I stay in Thailand...
My favorite pizza is 4.5$. slimbob |

[/ QUOTE ] QFT Definitely not the best, but $2.50 a person for pizza when you're poor is pretty sick. They're also great when you just want one pizza, as most frachise places hose you when you only order one. |

Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
you should not count pick-up only in the price comparison. i'm lazy as hell, and it doesn't matter what it costs if i have to go get it. therefore, OP about little caesar's is null and void. those pizzas suck anyway; i'd rather have 5 totinos
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
$17- a large sausage and green pepper chicago style pizza from either of the 2 places on campus that sell chicago style
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
Pizza hut, dominoes, little ceasars all have 5 dollar pizzas that are pretty good. I know some good local places in arkansas where I usually pay 20 bucks for a medium or 25 for a large. but those pizzas kick ass.
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
Going to college with a town that has a lot of Pizza places provides a lot of really cheap pizza.
|
Re: What do you pay for a Pizza?
I always spend few extra bucks for a quality pizza. Usually $20ish for a large 3 topping pizza.
