Art Monk robbed yet again.

Well, it looks like for the 6th straight consecutive year in a row running Art Monk has been jobbed by NFLHOF voters. Sure, he only had 3 pro bowls, but when he retired, he was the NFL's all time leader in receptions, held the record for most catches in a season for awhile, and had 3 SB appearances, with 2 wins. John Stallworth is in with 400 less catches and same amount of pro bowls, as is his teammate, Lynn Swann, with over 6 HUNDRED less catches and same amount of pro bowls. Monk's stats aren't inflated by the rise of recptions that has come about in the past 10-12 years either. I'm not saying he's the best ever, not by a long shot, but he easily deserves to be in the hall.

He wasn't the best wr on his team for more than 3 years of his career. why should he get in? I went over this in the other thread.

Catches != great reciever.

I have to agree with the oringinal post. There's no doubt that Art Monk deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He even retired with the reception record, and he did not get inflated numbers like some players (namely Chris Carter). Also, Swann and Stallworth are not nearly as deserving as Monk. At least that is my opinion on the matter (not that anyone asked.)

So, he leads clark in receptions in 4 of those years, and in one he played only 9 games to clark's 12, and Clark has only a slightly higher CPG that year, even without Monk taking away catches. Clark had more yards as the deep threat, like Moss, while Monk was more like Cris Carter Pretty weak argument. I don't see a pattern other than two recievers putting up solid #'s. Again, i'm not saying he was the best of all time or even top 10, but him not being in the HOF is a minor travesty.

That is pretty significant.

Personally, I'm fine if he gets in. But I do think there's a good case against him.

Also, I don't think the standard for the HoF should be "anyone better than the worst guy presently enshrined." Just because there are some guys there who shouldn't be doesn't mean we have to add more.
