\"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (Week of 12/18) (Fri 10-20 NL)
 

I'm starting this thread early, because they were talking of airing live at 7pm ET, as the Bike was going to be busy with a freeroll tournament at 10pm ET Monday. Let's see if this actually happens, and if David Tuchman makes his return to LATB. For the moment, I'll lock until further notice.

Edit: I've received word from Bart that they are taping 10-20 NL right now, but won't be broadcasting those 3 hours until the usual 10pm ET time slot. Tuch hasn't shown up yet (Bart's gone solo so far), but is expected to be there soon, so I'll unlock the thread now for comments/questions for those that care to.

But maybe Bart and Dave will read the thread during the broadcast taping, so I'll ask, nay demand that Dave spill the entire story - not some politically correct version - but the real deal. He needs to understand that he owes it to the many loyal poker players who really grew to enjoy his ability as a "color man" and respect his integrity as a media professional.

I for one will be very disappointed otherwise. Not that it means a farthing in this world, but nevertheless I will be.

I just received another PM from Bart just now, it looks like he won't make the show Monday. Tuch's flight was supposed to be coming in at 3:30, and with taping starting at 4 it made the timing pretty tight. He did say David MAY be on the show Wednesday night.

I like the play Maurice made on Mo. It appears that he really has been watching. Using the knowledge that Mo rarely ever bets out big hand on the flop, he made a nice raise to re-steal the pot from Mollagio

Bart, are you crazy, you don't think blocking $400 on the river with 99 on a QJJ9x board is good? It's genius. He'll get all worse hands to call only, and all better hands to shove in, and he's never folding to a shove. It maximizes EV...of his opponents.

The interesting thing about the hand is the re-minraise on the flop. It almost looks like the guy was doing it for pot control (but then when he hits trips on the turn he figures his hand is strong enough to bet again). This makes it even worse for Mo to check the turn, since anyone trying to exercise pot control will check behind on turn.

New Circuit episodes 1 and 2 sucked ass, 3 and 4 have been pretty good. The "Screaming Swede" was Mattias Andersson. Bostin thinking the Hawbaker thread is 260 pages long = noob. Also the other guy left, Jim Hanna is occasional LATB emailer Mark "Big Daddy from Cincinnati" Hanna's brother.

Obviously it didn't come across, but the first half of my post was sarcastic. Blocking the river there is absolutely ridiculous.

There's no way Craig folds on the turn to a c/r. He beats QJ, JT, and loses to AJ, and 99, but his hand is also underrepresented on this particular board (since it's way more likely that he has an overpair than a jack). Plus, a turn c/r is all-in or so close to it that the Q on the river is pretty much irrelevant.

If there was a $5-$10 game with a few aggressive players, someone who knows how to play a shortstack would almost certainly have a higher earn shortstacking that game than playing in the $300-$500 game.

At Winstar, they have the same buyin games, and from what I have seen, the $5-$10 game plays super aggressive preflop. I actually think shortstacking that is the most profitable way to play it. If I played it, I'd buy in for $500, double up, then bring my stack up to $2000 (the max buy in). I think in terms of EV in that game, shortstacking is highest (for someone who knows how to play short), then full stack, and then a medium $1000-$1500 stack.

Garden City used to have a rule about mis-calling your hand. I don't know if they still do, or whether the rule is in effect at the other bay area casinos. The rule was, if someone said "two pair" like Mo did, then Alan could insta-muck if he couldn't beat two pair, and if Mo could not show two pair, the pot would go to Alan. It's a good rule.
