Names that have been ruined

Talking with someone about my name (Kramer - it's my last name) and how it has been slightly corrupted by Michael Richards.

At least my name's not Katrina I said.

What other names have been ruined? These names were fine for a while, and then some asshat messed it up for everyone else with that name.

I'll start:

Katrina
Monica
Adolf

Adolf is really a prime example. It'd be interesting to see how many Germans, since '45, have given their kid that name. Similarly, "Der Fuehrer" was a pretty common term in German before WWII (it just means "the leader"). That term has been almost completely stricken from common usage because of the associations.

Katrina was corrupted long before the hurricane. All the Katrinas I've met have been gargoyles, so if I have a daughter, that's the last name I'd be giving her.

(assclown)

also, i disagree with katrina and monica being ruined. i've actually never even thought for one second about those names.

in order for names to be ruined, the name has to be unique and very identifiable with the person who "ruined it." but then for it to even matter, the name has to be pretty common. this doesn't happen often.

like george bush is an idiot, but did he ruin george? no. you don't associate george with george bush.

hitler was obviously bad, but does it matter that people can't name their children adolf? no, not here. i'm sure as RDH mentioned this was a good example in germany.

kramer is a decent example. i can't think of any other ones.

'Saddam' seems to be an extremely common name in the middle east, probably no problem over there but not so much if you end up in America

It would be much easier on her if you just used your own last name. Speaking of which, I have an addition to the list:

Elaine

I came across a client the other day named _______ Hitler. I have no idea how the hell he/she hasn't changed that name yet. It's slightly tainted.

A high school friend of mine went by the nickname OJ, but started going by his real name (Oshiomogho) in college. Now he plays for the Rams and most of the annoncers have reverted to calling him OJ.

I don't think this thread has produced any strong examples yet.

On another note, I once knew a German Shepered named Adolf, he lived in Berlin, MA. weird.
