T6o blind war... overzealous?
Villain is 24/19 and seems decent enough. We have no blind war history that I can recall. Is this the right spot for something like this or is it a spew? Anyone give up on river?

Bad river card for you. I'd give up. Prefer a flop raise.

Re: T6o blind war... overzealous?
I think this is okay through the turn... the K is a good turn follow-through card for him if he's got air (and expects you could peel light), so he wont always have something call-worthy there.
The river card obv sucks for folding out any kind of made hand, I wonder if there are enough flush draws / A-hi that were preventing a free SD to warrant betting? Not sure, we'd have to enumerate villain's range which is pretty wide. Certainly can be frustrating though, if villain has a hand like 55 or A3 and decides to get stubborn with it. Surf |

fwiw, I have seen a lot of villains call river with A-high puttin you on a draw.

Re: T6o blind war... overzealous?
This looks spewy to me. I think raising the flop leverages your positional advantage best (and costs the least).
As played, river bet is kind of spewy. Nothing's changed (he's not going to ck-fold a pair)and he didn't give up on the turn, so I think he looks you up here a lot. |

Re: T6o blind war... overzealous?
If you could have any hand to raise this turn with, T6 would be one of my last choices. With no history, I would choose to make this raise with a better hand. Expecting an unknown TAG to have a big enough flaw in his game that you can exploit it profitably with such a bad hand is a little, well, overzealous IMO.

overzealous, i think.
i just think you will have so many better opportunites that this is not one that you should pursue. |

I don't think it was a big mistake as there are many middling hands he's forced to drop to my turn raise (and I can also avoid being made to fold the best hand in a bunch of scenarios), but given the small pot size I agree this play should be saved for when I have higher equity. I'm also convinced the river bet was bad. I don't like to give up in these kinds of spots very often, but this one was truly pretty close to hopeless. |

[/ QUOTE ] The consensus seems to be that A-hi is calling down (which I agree with for the most part) along with 3x, 44-66, 7x. A 6 might be a bit thin but it's close, a T is an easy value bet. I'm pretty sure he would fold all Q high-hands on the turn and I think it's possible to make him fold an A high hand on the turn. |
Re: T6o blind war... overzealous?
I agree that A-high will fold the turn sometimes. My opinion is that players, even bad players, often make more folds than we give them credit for in certain types of spots. Of course I base this on subjective experience/deductive logic in situations where I see players fold... there's no concrete way to back up my theory . Guess I could ask them to fill out a survey anytime they make a laydown.

Re: T6o blind war... overzealous?
You pumped 3.5 BB in postflop despite having hopeless cards. Don't make moves at random. Bluff with the hands that have the best prospects of drawing out.
Easy turn fold and I would consider folding the flop too. No reason to prolong a very marginal hand against a decent player. Villain's hand range has a huge edge over T6o on this flop. By playing on you are hoping he makes enough mistakes to offset his advantage and allow you a profit. But you have no basis for thinking you have picked the right opponent for this purpose. |
