Could be generation specific, but for my money Christmas is not Christmas until I have seen the animated 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas.' It is Chuck Jones at his best and who doesn't just love Max the dog.

Re: Best Christmas TV show ever?

Any Lawrence Welk Christmas show. Especially ones from the 70's because the program is funnier in color. The annual Christmas shows were special because the talent-impaired performers would bring their untalented children. The atmosphere was enjoyably tense as the kids understood that one wrong note or incorrect dance step would mean an ass whipping after the show.

I'd like to see more of these, but PBS seems to run the same episode year after year. Or maybe they just all look the same. Avoid the newer reunion shows, where they ruin the Christmas spirit by getting all religious.

In theory, the Kathie Lee Gifford specials should be action-packed as well, but I don't think I've actually seen one.

I like the songs in Rudolph.

There's always tomorrow,
For dreams to come true,
Believe in your dreams
Come what may.

brings a tear to my eye.

But I'm going to go with whoever said The Grinch. That dog is so cute.

Well, A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim is a tradition in our house,

but my favorite has to be A Christmas Story, I think that's the name (the one with the little kid who wants to get the BB gun)

Twilight Zone, "Night of the Meek", with Art Carney

"A word to the wise to all the children of the twentieth century, whether their concern be pediatrics or geriatrics, whether they crawl on hands and knees and wear diapers or walk with a cane and comb their beards. There's a wondrous magic to Christmas and there's a special power reserved for little people. In short, there's nothing mightier than the meek, and a merry Christmas to each and all."

Charlie Brown and the Grinch, obviously.

Also, the West Wing episode called 'In Excelsis Deo' choked me up pretty good.
