Bought Computer then found it to be used

Hi

I just bought a hp a1430n pavillion. I then got it home and found that it had been used. The previous owner has left their files on it and everything. What should I do about this.

Note: The computer was a great deal. Only cost $299 for a dual core system with 1024mb of ram.

Thanks

I guess I should just keep it since it was such a good deal right?

Was this sold as new, or as refurbished? In the computer biz, refurbished usually means that the unit was sold and returned. In any event, it was really sloppy of the store not to do a reformat/reinstall Windows. If it was sold as new, you have a beef with the store. OTOH, you goat a very good price, and if the computer works well, and you have the same warranty as with a new unit, it might not be worth complaining about. It might be a good idea to do a reformat/reinstall, or insist that the store do it, just in case the previous owner picked up malware, after searching the computer for credit card numbers, identifying information, and goat porn or other items that might be useful for blackmailing the previous owner. The computer was sold as new, but I guess I should have known since it didn't come in a box with any disks, booklets etc. The computer seems to work well and I did get a full one year warranty. Thanks for your help.

Seriously, it sounds like Billy at Office Depot is selling stolen computers.

Why would you buy a computer with no operating disks?

It was probably the display model, if they sold it as new, and it wasn't packaged.
