At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
Button is a good tag, very capable of 3 betting light.
6 handed Hero is UTG with AQo. Hero raises to 4bb, 2 folds, Button raises to 12bb, 2 folds, Hero pushes. What are the maximum effective stacks where you would push here for value? |
Re: At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
Since you're never getting called by a worse hand, it's hard to know what you mean by "push for value"

Re: At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
You could get called by a worse hand if you only had 13BBs, right?

why are you 4-betting all-in??

Re: At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
Say if villian had 100bb, a 4 bet would be motivated by fold equity.
But if villian only has 20bb total, we're probably just going to stick it in. What's the biggest stack where we are going to 'just stick it in'? (ignore the fact that a good tag is unlikely to have such a small stack) |
Re: At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
i have and probably never will push AQo pf for value, bc i only sit in games where i feel i have a significant edge and don't need to make desperation moves.
but, for 100 BB's you can easy push AQo against full stacks if the action is something like you pot utg call call (maybe a 3rd call too) and bb 3bets pot with a wide range, and you push. but otherwise, why not find better spots? in the scenario you described i would never ever push "for value" or for any other reason |

Re: At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
nice, maybe it's something i need to start thinking about pf, thanks for sharing.
btw, what was the action/your read(s) on the hand? |
Re: At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
actually they folded both times.
The reason I did it was I was reading CTS's blog, http://www.cardrunners.com/fusetalk/...cfm?forumid=25 he played 10k hands at 3/6 nl where he 4-bet pushed over any 3-bet with KK, AA and Ax and said it was profitable |

Re: At what stack sizes do you 4 bet AQo for value?
If villian is frequently 3 betting you light and you play with him frequently, 4 bet shoving AQ is fine for metagame purposes IMO, as long as you are 4 bet shoving with AK, and JJ+ sometimes as well..........it's certainly never for value against a 100 BB stack. I still prefer flat calling and c/ring any flop though against frequent 3betters.

Just 4bet, why push?
