3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Here it is.
3GOPs (3rd Generation...) is us. Mostly people posting here I believe. We didnt play poker back when Brunson was able to handle a car safely, we didnt play poker when Moneymaker won the WSOP and we didnt play poker when everyone else did. But now we do. We hate ourselves every time we sit down at a table seeing VPIP numbers of 19. "WHY didnt I get there 2 years ago?" ... " Id be the [censored] daddy in my hood now" . Ok, great. Feel like I do? Nevermind. We are late, but not too late. Were not gonna buy a balla-car any time soon just by playing tight at 1/2NL, but we can still make a lot of cash while others get drunk on friday night. Even earning, like, 1one1 PTBB at 5/10 NL is enough of a reason for me to learn how to do just that. Any game is beatable. So I we have identified one key requirement. We have to learn. Duh. Now the reason I write this is a different one: We have to learn quickly. Since we dont have time ill shorten this a bit: + We are smart enough to make it to this site, work on our game, realize poker isnt gambling - good job. + We are eager to improve, work, and eventually reap the benefits. + We havent given up ----- = We gotta work together P2P is great, no question. However, some rather individual problems, questions or discussions often get lost. Also, p2p isnt always the best spot to regain confidence and/or motivation or seek help when things run badly. Smaller groups almost always work more effectively than large groups do. Especially when small groups still have an option to seek help from large ones. (By which I mean that we will still post on 2p2 and stuff) Its just going to be a little air-bubble in the ocean. One that takes seemingly useful things from the blaring sea in order to digest and sort out in complete silence and harmony on the inside. Get the idea? Okay. Ignore the fact that I have a gayish way of thinking and posting and instead think about the advantages. (Something just popped to my mind. "There are counterstrike and warcraft/starcraft clans... why arent there poker-clans?") Okay, this really just popped to my mind so we shall let it go. But please rethink the above. I basically want 5 - 10 friendly, sophisticated, intelligent, open-minded and eager uNL 3GOPs. (6max btw) To make things work, we all need to have approx. equal skill, bankroll, ambitions. I hope there are some: -winning 6max. NL60 players who have a - <1000$ bankroll and are eager to - make it to NL100 before 2007 hits. (Details about how the community is linked will be provided as soon as I know how many people are interested. A forum, AIM/ICQ/MSN and maybe IRC seem like effective platforms) greets |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I am seriously interested in this idea, shoot me a pm if you want some contact information. Here's a little about me:
Play NL50 mostly, with some NL 25 and NL 100 on the side, started playing NL at the start of the month, used to be a 3bb/100 limit 1/2 and 2/4 winner. Want to get to NL100 and higher fast. I study a lot, play a lot, and take shots early . I've been looking for this kind of group discussion around where I live, as I believe the fastest way for my game to improve is to watch others play and discuss each others' game on a regular basis. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I'm definately interested in this.
I play NL25 (only atm) with a $700 bankroll. In the Short-Handed Limit Section of this forum they have something called 'review hand swaps'. (see link) http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post7992933 Maybe we could setup something like this where we review 1 or 2 hundred of each others hands? Maybe g one better and record a video of our play an exchange them, then post comments on improvements etc. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I am friendly, sophisticated, intelligent, open-minded and eager uNL 6maxer
My aim is straightflush311 edit: I guess I should add that I am currently playing 50nl. |

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
w00t!
I'm not alone I'm defo down for this. I'm a winner at 50 NL, 100 NL makes me feel uncomfartable as hell ATM. I definately want to move up, though. I would be down with MSN/ Forum. But I'm sure we can work this out. Shoot me a PM. I play 50 NL 6 max, BR >2300. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
So what sort of limits are included here?
|
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Im very interested. Currently 50NL 6max and way over-rolled so have taken few shots and soon moving up to 100NL.
I'd vote for IRC |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
This just for 6max?

So what sort of limits are included here? [/ QUOTE ] NL 50 only. As stated above. We have to have kind of the same limits, ambitions, bankrolls etc. So winning NL50ers who are eager to beat NL100 any time soon. |

Since people seem to like the idea, try to create this kind of working community yourself. have fun |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Wow, great idea hra146, definately sign me up for this one.
Ive just started taking poker seriously after playing for about 2 years, and I want to get as high as possible and making some sort of poker-"clan" seems like a excellent idea, so im in. I used to bonuswhore until 2 months ago when I started to become more serious about getting better, have been a winning player at 25NL ever since I started. Now I play 50NL, but I hope having a big BR is a problem, I guess I could cash out some then I think mIRC and MSN would be great platforms, maybe a voice program like Ventrilo could be used for sweating etc. Hope to hear from you! |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
obv if you don't play OP's stakes, you can just create your own group or something...sounds like a good idea.
|
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
hra146, great Idea. Also, it`s a fact that a lot of Starcraft / Warcraft players from clans have done very well at online poker.
I know you look for 50NL players, but maybe some lower stakes players will join with me. My progress so far: have been playing private cash games for about 2 years played Pokerstars playmoney tables for a couple of months before I figured out people actualy buy playchips. Acumulated 2 million playchips over 1 month, sold them for 20$ played 22k hands Pokerstars 0.01/0.02bb 5NL (bankroll 120$) played 25k hands Pokerstars 0.02/0.05bb 10NL (bankroll 250$) played 11k hands Pokerstars 0.05/0.10bb 10NL (bankroll currently 450$) will start taking shots at 25NL as soon as I reach 550$ My stats are 20/13/2.7/53 and I multitable four 6-max tables. Anybody interested pls contact me. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
PM sent cleaner.
Anybody interested in getting together and chatting about our sessions (looking for 25NL 6max players) feel free to contact me also. I wouldn't mind reviewing someone elses session and having discussions in order to improve our games. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I've played between $25NL to $600NL in the last few months. Im currnetly building my BR at $50 NL. I'm interested in getting involved in some discussions if this is organized properly.

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I'm interested. I'm a winning 10NL player over a large sample of hands (like 50k, somethin ridiculous). Can't seem to make the jump to 25NL for some reaosn tho, tho lately its been going a LOT better and I feel like I'm on the verge of breaking through there.
BR is 420. 60k+ hands lifetime...tilts been a pretty big problem... use msn. Send a pm if interested. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Maybe all micro-NL readers/members should use this as the thread to network with other micro-NL players.
Looks like how this thread is turning out anyway. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Would be interested as well.
Recently converted to NL from limit and learning the game. Sort of drifting between $50NL and 200NL right now trying to play as many hands as possible and improve, got the bankroll from limit but definetly not the experience in NL so far. pm me if anyone is in a similar situation or learning NL or whatever. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I'm interested as well. Converted from limit about 2 months ago, currently playing 6-max NL 50 at UB. Built my roll playing limit up to 2/4 and bonus whoring, have the roll for NL 100 but the few shots I've taken there have ended badly. I'm planning on taking a bigger shot starting next month, with the goal of moving up permanently.

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
this sounds very interesting.
I'd like to take part in it. Nl50 6max with BR around 1500$. main problem is finding the motivation to play and a small group would be a perfect way to work harder and play more. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
NL50 6 max currently...won't be playing a ton in the next 2 1/2 weeks, but plan on playing 10hrs/day over college break and definitely want to move up to NL100 sometime during that period.
|
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I haven't been playing much lately, but I would like to get more hands in. I play NL25 with BR around 700. Michael i would like to review hands/ sessions as well.

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Winning NL 50 player here. Bankroll of $2000. Just decided to take my serious shot at pro poker Nov. 7th and started with a $200 deposit (I still have another well paying part time job and am in college again this spring).
I am down for whatever and soon to reach baller status. As for not going out and drinking on the weekends...I don't know about that |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I would be down with having a couple people to bounce hands and thoughts off of every once in a while. Right now I'm floating between NL25 & NL50, but still mostly NL25.

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Another limit convert here. Started at $25 and am currently transtioning to $50. I play 20-30k hands a month , more with motivation. I am looking to make quick but steady progress. My goal is to be winning at $100 by January. Having an ear has helped me in the past, and should do so again. If anyone gets a small group going pm for AIM.

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I am very interested. I am new to nl I used to play limit online and did ok. I am starting small I usually play the micro limits, anywhere from $2nl to $10nl regularly with a couple shots of $25nl. I am very eager to get this going and I want to be playing $100nl by Jan. MY AIM is lostrelik, also have yahoo and msn. Like I said still kind of new 6600 hands since 11/5 at 25 vpip/17.5 pfr/1.95 pf af while 3 to 4 tabling. Really excited about this.

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
Reluctant participant......
What do people see as the "main" way a posse is going to improve their play? Sitting and watching sessions using live chat via AOL or something? Playing against each other? Trading hand histories (isn't 2+2 pretty good at that?)? Learning everyone else's SN ? Is this site specific.... FTP or Stars comes to mind. Anyone here able to show me the +EV to forming an ONLINE posse? I understand the clan aspect of certain internet games and forming groups to slay dragons and such. I just want to go fishing and catch enough for the freezer. |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
What I gathered from this idea is not a posse so much, but a network of players in your limit(s) to exchange advice, thoughts and whine. It helps improve your game if you have someone to bounce ideas off of instead of having to go through the posting rituals and wait for answers and comments. I do not think he is looking for a group to go and attack fish. A small support group of friends can drastically improve your results, partciularly when several members of the group are going through the same things at the same relative time.

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I'd be interested. I play mostly NL50 ATM and have a BR of 2k. I've been at that limit for a while now because I keep having to withdraw to pay bills, but I'm hoping with the free time I have over break, I can bump up my bankroll to a point I feel comfortable playing $100NL.
|
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I'm in for sure. I Moved to 50NL this month after by BR hit 1000 and im almost @ 2K already at about 11ptbb/100. Id love to have some guys to chat with about poker that actually know what their talking about. Who is organizing all this?

Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I´m interested.
Playing NL50 Fullring since this month. Running ok, but i know i make some mistakes that have to be turned off. I´d like to play 40-50k hands in December. And of course I like to improve my game and these groups seem to be a good idea. A good addition to his great forum. I´m not from the US, but my English should be good enough to understand and give some advice too. PM me for contact |
Re: 3rd Generation Online Players. Lets join forces.
I'm interested in this as well.
I am around the same roll as OP and have the same ambitions. Any of you golf? What I am getting at is that when you are a novice golfer, you know many of things to do, but do not always execute them right. There are so many ideas swimming in your head that it is hard to do all of them naturally. Then there are those shots when all the things come together and you see your potential. That is where many of us are at here at uNL. I would think based on the response we are going to need to have multiple groups since this would be too large to achieve its goal based on responses. We should describe what you want to do as a part of this group. Then, from there we could have our groups with similar interests together. So, to get this going, I will put down what things I would like to do and what I currently do to learn. 1) Read and post on 2p2. 2) Read and Re-read Theory of Poker, Little Green Book, and NLHE TaP. 3) Watch cardrunners videos. 4) Play an hour or so a night after my special lady friend goes to sleep. Now, what I would think would be useful is for detailed discussion between a group of 4-6 people on an area they feel they are having trouble with. For instance, a few weeks ago playing 100NL I noticed a huge hole in my game that was being exploited, overplaying TP/overpairs. Now with a group, I could come back to them, show them a few hands and they could point me to a few hands of theirs were they demonstrated playing it properly or pointed to a certain cardrunners video or a chapter in a book and then further discussion could take place. As you can see, I am very interested in this since a smaller group will offer the challenges/support that a larger community as a whole is not meant to serve. So anyone interested send me a PM. I am looking to begin this very soon and will be glad to organize a group. What would be useful is your name, e-mail or fav chat client and screen name, and playing at the same stakes, and probably same site would be advantageous. For me, my name is Wally Wojciechowski and I play at Full Tilt and NL 50, the other info I will make available to whoever would like to join this group. Thanks EDIT: Since country was mentioned, I live in US, Chicago area. |
