the office US (obv) |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
I think you meant to call your post "funniest shows since 1990 on tv".
|
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
MASH. I can watch and rewatch every episode and still laugh.
The office makes me laugh out loud more then anyting else. I also was a huge fan of Mr. Bean. |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
The Office (UK)
Seinfeld Not sure which is funniest, but nothing compares to those two IMO. |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
Nothing has made me laugh as hard as Family Guy. For the overall show, Seinfeld. There aren't too may weak ass Seinfeld episodes, but I can think of a bunch of Fam Guy eps where I haven't done more than a light giggle. Too much of Family Guy get's terribly predictable which just ruins the joke entirely. Also, Seinfeld doesn't have 5 minute gay ass singing tangents which totally suck. And a lot of Seinfeld's humor is so unique that it racks up extra points (Jerry cracking the water bottle on the phone for a reply to a question and hanging up, classic).

Cheers [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I gotta go with this, although it's probably too old for 80+% of the posters here. The Shelley Long years were such awesome TV that has stood the test of time - the Kirstie Alley years were still pretty good TV, but those first few seasons they worked so brilliantly as an ensemble it's unreal. Maybe it's because I'm getting old but I haven't seen anything other than the Simpson's in their prime that has made me laugh as hard. Also, early "All in the Family" and most of "Mary Tyler Moore" is exceptional. And both Newharts. |

Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
I'll agree with Cheers as I watched it in its prime.
However, I have to say that Family Guy makes me laugh outloud like a retard at the circus. Pure genius most of the time. |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
Taxi
Night Court Cheers Monty Python's Flying Circus |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
The Office (UK)
Blackadder Fawlty Towers The 'slow down' episode of Taxi is probably the funniest single episode of TV comedy ever. |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
I'm the first one to say Curb Your Enthusiasm.
That's [censored] up. |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
There are some absolutely horrendous answers in this thread.

Arrested Development [/ QUOTE ] Does this show get funnier after the first disc of season 1? I found it a bit amusing, but maybe laughed once or twice and some of the jokes were already getting stale a few episodes in. So I yanked disc 2 from the netflix queue. Seinfeld Curb Your Enthusiasm The Office (US) (haven't seen the UK one) mid years of The Simpsons Cheers Taxi |

Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
Kids in the Hall
Benny Hill select episodes of SNL from the early to mid nineties Daily Show w/ Craig Kilborn, and to a lesser extent Jon Stewart (although topical humor isn't really something that stands up over time) Giligan's Island ain't bad |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes definitely keep on watching. Its one of those shows that isn't funny the first 2 times you watch it, but the inside jokes and etc make it ridiculously hilarious once you watch a little more. It was the same way with me; I wasn't a believer the first time I watched. Once I got a few episodes in, I watched the season in a day. |

Boy there are some horrible answers.
A proper list: Seinfeld MASH Cheers Night Court WKRP in Cincinnati Barney Miller Hogan's Heroes The Bob Newhart Show Edit: If we're including British shows then you have to add: Monty Python's Flying Circus Benny Hill Fawlty Towers Allo Allo |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
I go along with Faulty Towers (maybe not the same effect as the first time you see it, but I love John Cleese)
I liked Cheers in its prime. Loved Seinfeld. Family Guy, obviously. I also liked In Living Color for at least a couple seasons. Like anything, some skits didn't work, but the ones that did were brilliant. |

Entourage, wtf? [/ QUOTE ] Ari Gold is one of the funniest characters on tv IMO. I just turned 22, so all of my shows are relatively recent if not still on the air. Thus, no love for the classics. |
Re: funniest shows ever on tv?
Mork and Mindy when I was a kid, but I doubt I would find it that funny now.
I always found the shows that, at times, made me laugh the most had a dumb (or spaced out or something) guy. Jim on Taxi Woody or Coach on Cheers Monty Python was sometimes hilarious. SNL occassionally - and some of the funniest things I've ever seen have been on David Letterman. Seinfeld had a lot of funny bits too. I like The Simpsons better than any of those shows, but it's more than just funny. |
