Pokerroom boycott!
The greed of that site is beyond belief. So they are supposed to rake a game as bad as live casino? I thought as competition heated up in the industry the rake would drop? Well any site that has a worse rake structure than Party is off my playing list forever, so long Pokerroom and so long Pacific. I just want Party to try this bs...... Re: Pokerroom boycott!
I'm with you brother. Goodbye to Pokerroom. The next thing you know Pokerroom will try to make us tip the dealer. Pokerroom was about half terrible to begin with, and now they have gone 100% bad.

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
too many choices online to even be involved with a site that has to even take penny's out of a pot. Greed will be the death of them as many business in the past have found out the hard way
|
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Im in.
Shouldn't we let them know its because of the new rake structure? |
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Why not. A mass email protest could get them to roll it back. I doubt they will as they assume most players are losing addicts......

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
I'll join the boycott, just yanked my cash outta there.

You didn't say what limit you play there, so maybe you can do ok, but for anyone playing $2-4 (maybe other limits too)or below the Pokerroom game with the high rake they have is UNBEATABLE in the long run. |
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Who knows..this might be part of some cartel like agreement between the sites.
If these rakes become an industry standard it will kill playing the game professionally at mid-limits. |

It doesn't benefit me to argue the beatability of the games, though. |
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
$2-4 and under (limit) is unbeatable live because of the rake. Not even to mention the tips.

Phil Hellmuth says on his DVD that any game $2/4 and under is unbeatable in the long run because of the rake. Phil makes more mony at poker than you do - he knows what he is talking about.

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Phil Hellmuth is wrong about many things when it comes to limit poker.
You can definately win at $2/4 live, the rake is horrendous but the play is awful. You need to make many adaptations because of the horrendous players. These changes are in the complete opposite direction to Phil Hellmuths style of play -- he couldn't beat $2/4 without changing his style. |
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
I've been boycotting PokerRoom for almost 5 months already. Although, I was pulling 2.5BB/100 over 35k hands. I'm sure they miss me.

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Yeah, I wish I could help out here, but I decided PR sucks BIGTIME long ago, when I cashed out only 1/200000 of the way to my BIG initial deposit bonus. . . life is too short!!
|
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
so it takes 1 dollar from the pot at 10 dollars now? This means that the bonus should clear faster for lower limit players at least... but I'm with you guys, I wouldn't play there without a bonus.

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Does anyone know if the pokerroom skins (hollywood in particular) are using the same new rake structure?
|
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Wow, with less 2+2ers at pokerroom, im definately going back later in september with my rakeback

thanks for the heads up, I was thinking about depositing for their bonus

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Im playing PLO 50, and they are maxing rake at $1 a pot for 10 people. Most pots are $60-70. Is that worse than before? It seems like it might be better.
|
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Folks, please read the rake structure before you fly off the handle. The rake is more at certain particular pot sizes, and they pull from even very small pots, where they didn't before. But the MAX RAKE AT ANY TABLE IS 1 BB. If you play 2/4, that means they never rake more than $2, ever. It isn't clear to me that this structure is any worse than before, although it does mean that .25/.50 player can never clear a bonus.
If you play at micro-limits, it might be bad. But tight aggressive players (that's all of you, right?) should think this is just fine. |

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Maybe the Limit rake isnt so bad, but for No-Limit games the rake structure is a lot worse.
At 200NL ($2 BB), $2 is raked from a $24 pot - to me this seems a bit excessive. Ojo_Rojo |

I mean, you have to adjust properly to the game to beat it, and you're still not going to be raking in the dough - a great player would be lucky to make minimum wage. |

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
Hi all,
Just a few clarifications regarding the recently updated PokerRoom.com rake structure. But first of all I hope that all of you bear in mind that basing the rake on Big Blinds instead of Pot Size is an entirely new system designed to equalize the percentage of rake paid by players of various levels. We believe doing so is fair. However, as an entirely new system it may need certain adjustments not spotted in our extensive simulations. 1. The new rake structure tables have been available since yesterday. A link to the new structure was also posted in our news section yesterday. 2. We still incorporate a No Flop No Drop policy. Naturally. The tables will be updated to clarify that. 3. The overall drop in player points received is an effect we did not anticipate, intend nor did it surface during our extensive analysis. The Player Points system will therefore undergo an overhaul to adjust to the new structure and distribute more points. 4. Certainly certain games on certain levels will now have to pay a slightly higher rake than before, but do notice that others will pay way less. All heads-up games as well as high-stakes limit games are obvious examples of this. 5. The new, more dramatic cut-off point in paid rake can unfortunately lead to certain pots being raked around 9-10%. Do note however that these are extreme situations that only occur when a pot reaches a certain, exact size. Examples: Limit 5-10 players 1/2 LEVEL Pot size $11 total rake $0.40 Pot size $12 total rake $1 Pot size $29 total rake $1 2/4 LEVEL Pot size $23 total rake $0.80 Pot size $24 total rake $2 Pot size $48 total rake $2 Finally we do appreciate all of the feedback and comments received from all you 2+2 users. Nothing beats hearing first-hand what the players themselves have to say. C u at the tables! PokerRoom.com Meet Them and Beat Them |
Re: Pokerroom boycott!
I'm in, pulled my money out and left some bonus cash behind because that rake in the 2/4 game was complete bullshit.

Just stick it to the mid level casual non professional gambler. Total Bs. Pulling my doe out of Hollywood as soon as i get home. Other sites should take notice. Other forums are rallying also. Unfortunately the casual non professional gambler will probably not even notice.

Re: Pokerroom boycott!
I'd be curious to see some side by side pot vs rake comparision between the "old" rake scheme, and the new on.
Anyone have numbers like that? I'm much more of a visual person.... Sarge[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |
