Tonight's show starts a brand new week of LATB, with 5-10 NL being featured tonight. Bart and Dave will be back together in the booth tonight, and I'm sure Bart will go over what transpired in his Friday appearance.

My first live show back in a long time.

I saw Owen's A9 vs AQ hand. I really expected him to play tighter than that. It's my impression that most limit players that are stepping out of their game into NL (and into a bigger-than-usual game) would be much more cautious than that. Am I wrong, or is Owen a counterexample?

The concept Bart is talking about is what Barry G calls "defining your hand." The idea is that you either "tell the truth," or you tell a big whopping lie. If you avoid "half truths," you don't have to guess whether an opponent is acting on the real informaiton he has (his hand) or on the false information you gave him.

Had an interesting hand take place over the weekend:
I'm on the button and the entire table limps in. I look down and see AA. I make a big raise. Bigger than I have the entire game PF anyways. I make it 10XBB to go. I was just looking at the money in the pot. I had seen AA cracked everytime it was played since I sat down. It folds around to seat7, I happen to be in seat 10. He calls which surprised me becasue this guy has been one of the more tighter players at the table. And I hadn't seen him call a big rais he either re-raised or folded. So I was thinking right away that he called me knowing I'm playing AA and is trying to hit a set or had suited conectors. The flop comes out very scary for my AA's. 6h 8h 4d I didn't put him on a pocket pair as low as what was on the board so I'm considering suited straight cards. He checks and I bet out a feeler bet of about 30% of the pot. He calls instantly. Red flags are going off here. I dont have an A of hearts also folks. Turn is 9s, a complete scare card for me again. Could have easily made a straight at this point. Again he checks and I figure well I'll take another shot at it. I bet around 50% of pot and again a quick call. River is Jh. Ok so the flush draw that he could have been chasing got there and another straight card. And again he checks to me. I was so confused by all this I didn't wear I was at in the hand and figured I was truly beat at this point and didn't want to face a big check raise so I checked behind him. He turned over Ks8s... I couldn't believe it. I turn over my AA and take down the pot. A guy to my left snickers and says nic value bet on the river that I missed out on. I just looked at him and said I only had 1 pair. He looked confused and shook his head. Did I make the wrong play and miss out on getting some more money on the river or did I make the right play?

My opinion, fwiw, you couldn't value bet, especially since you thought you were beat. There was enough money in the pot, he was insta-calling the whole way, you only had one pair. I think it was a necessary check, hoping your hand would win at showdown.

My opinion, fwiw, you couldn't value bet, especially since you thought you were beat. There was enough money in the pot, he was insta-calling the whole way, you only had one pair. I think it was a necessary check, hoping your hand would win at showdown.

Is anyone else having problem watching the archive of last night (11/13/06)?

Also, to those in charge of the L@TB website, please hire a web designer and get the site looking good. There are spelling mistakes, bad links, popups at weird times, and other annoyances.

They're aware of the archive issue, hopefully it'll be available later today/tomorrow. Anyways, Tuesday's show will be 10-20 NL, 1k min, no max with Ed Shananananazarian in the game.

Also worth noting, two known pros who've been on LATB, Mimi Tran and Kathy Liebert, made the final of the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods, which will take place Thursday night.

Regarding this 5k headsup tournament, will many of the matches be on LATB? Is there more details that can be given at this time? The timing for this tournament looks pretty good, between the Borgata and Commerce WPT events and just before the WSOPC at Rincon.

Why do people allow Mike and Trish to play at the same table. Its obviously 1 bankroll. And its pretty sick to watch Mo and Ed check it down all the time. Mo wants so badly to get Ed in the game, yet he wont bust him. Kinda weird.

It's strange they've changed their position that Mike and Trish play soft against each other. I'm sure I've heard them say many times that Mike won't play soft against her, pushing her off hands.

It doesnt much matter if they play soft or not (and Ive watched nearly every episode and they dont bet often when its just the two of them), its still 1 bankroll and thats a dissadvantage to the rest of the players.

That sounds so celebrity-like... Why am I not surprised though. Can't the poker players just be poker players and such media whores.. Pretty soon we will see people advertising "Joe's Tire Barn" T-shirts and everything else you can think of. Make me think of a Poker Stars eppisode where Johnny Chann had a nice cheesy F.T. shirt drapped over one of his 5K designer shirts... I just thought "Come on here"!!!

Phil likes Tuch-- as demonstrated by the big hug by Mr. G at the 2006 WSOP. Although Phil G. has probably already forgotten the $10K that Tuch donated and is currently focusing his energy trying to find the next donation.
