Recommend some good rocknroll
I'm tired of all my records right now, if anyone has any good recommendations I'd love to hear em. I like stuff like Dead Boys, Johnny Thunders, Hellacopters, Gluecifer, Crabby Appleton garage bands like The Sonics, Paul Revere and The Raidersetc. The best new thing I've heard recently is Towers of London. In fact, anyone who recommends something awesome that I haven't heard get's $10 on stars!

Check out The Black Keys, if you haven't already. They are a garage blues/rock two-piece. If you like them, then check out Left Lane Cruiser, a bunch of tbk fans dig them as well. Also, you might like another fat possum band called Twenty Miles. These links are free legal dl's of their music. This band is Judah Bauer from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion + whoever. some song. another Only One allmybrothers web page web page web page web page I'm actually checking out your stuff since you like The Sonics as well. I could be way off with my suggestions. |

Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
Thanks for the suggestions! I have a couple of Black Keys records, I like them but it's not something I put on very often. I looked for Left Lane Cruisers but didn't see anything, I'll definitely check them out if I can find something though. If you like that lo-fi stuff check out Compulsive Gamblers. They have a couple records out on Sympathy For The Record Industry that are all great.
I checked out the 20 Mile links as well, not bad but not really my style. |

Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
After reading the bands you list, I'm pretty sure you'll dig Mclusky.
Check out the "Mclusky Do Dallas" LP/CD. I'm hoping you haven't heard of them, but I figure you got some knowledge when your referencing the deadboys and the sonics. So, do I get $10? |

|
Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
also, the Nuggets compilations, are very good. check them out.

Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
This list is awesome, thanks. There's a bunch of stuff I haven't heard on there. The Downliners Sect remind me a lot of The Pagans - by the way if you want to hear a really great Pagans inspired band, check out The Prostitutes, they're one of my favorites.
I loved Sore Losers, I haven't seen that in forever. Did you hear Bass Wolf died recently? I'm not sure if Guitar Wolf is going to keep playing or what. And that site is great, thanks! I have enough new music to keep me busy for a while! |
Re: Recommend some good rocknroll

Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
HAY GUYS WATS GOING ON IN THIS THREAD???
I've been downloading lots of great punkrawk stuff from emusic lately...old (90s) stuff like April March's Chick Habit and her first band the Sh*tBirds, Scientists, Killdozer, the Embarrasment, Supersnazz and Speedball Baby...to newer stuff like Five Horse Johnson, Ko and the Knockouts, Mystery Girls, The Legends, Lightnin' Rod, Les Aus, Mr. Airplane Man, Porch Ghouls, The Little Killers, The Suspicions, The Black Angels and Death Set (very very good A++ punk rock with drummachine from our neck of the woods) If you can find anything by Deja Voodoo, get it right away. Finally, if you like Japanese lockNloll, the best band of all time is: The Registrators The four garage rock fans on this board have now posted...everyone else please move along. (PS, holler at me the next time you got a rock show in Baltimore...I've been going out a lot but mostly to gy dance bands like Hot Chip and stuff...) |
Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
Emusic is the [censored]. I must be out my mind though, I had no idea The Registrators were Japanese.
And my new band has their first show show on the 18th at the sidebar with The Luxury Pushers and Fishnet Stalkers |

Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
I just put my ipod on shuffle and found a good song, from a band I never bothered to listen to.
The Starlite Desperation. I have no idea who they are, but they rock. free downloads from epitonic myspace page |
Re: Recommend some good rocknroll
I know I've said it before but you REALLY should have lived in Bellingham, WA in the 1990s. You could have seen tons of those bands at the 3B, which was owned by the Mono Men's drummer. You would've died.
