Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
For anyone who has been hanging around FW during the WPF - How much impact is the WPF having on the wait time for ring games? If I show up Sunday looking to play some 1-2NL, should I expect to wait a lot longer than normal?
Thanks. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
um, this is very very easy.
stand near desk. wait till name is called 2 times, look around- then step forward and assume the identity of xxx. proceed to table. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
um willie that realy dont work
|
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
foxwoods has taken to verifying peoples identity with their wampum cards to try and avoid people assuming other's identities. obviously, it is still possible to sneak into games. just more difficult than described.
the wait times are very long. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
A guy I know was there last saturday and had to wait an hour and a half.
What's it like during the week these days? |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
Get there before 9:00 a.m. and you will have none or almost no wait.

Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
I was there for the past three nights and it's a fricken zoo, so disorganized (although most of the staff seemed to be doing what they could given the situation they're in)
Checking out to collect your points can be a real pain as they rummage through slips trying to find your name. Why it isn't all computerized is beyond me. Anyway, wait times are very long midweek, so expect even worse on the weekends. I waited an hour and a half easily during prime-time hours the other night to get into any game 10/20 to 30/60 that was either O8 or mixed (HORSE, SHOE, OE, HOE, etc) Games are juicy as sin though. Hoping to head up next week for a night or two. Anyone with a room looking to split costs please PM me. Non-smoker, light drinker. |

yeah clearly this doesn't work- this trick is WAY too complex to really be effective.

Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
Today was unbelievable because of the $1200 no limit tournament. I signed up at 11 AM for $20/$40, $10/20, and $1/2 no limit.
I was called in two hours and 15 minutes for $1/2 Three hours and 15 minutes for $20/$40 and Six hours (no exaggeration, I was called at 5PM) for $10/$20 |

I get there at 3:30....oh we're sorry, we aren't running act satellites until 7pm. WTF. Website says all day every day from 10am to midnight. (Except when we decide to change it, they left that part out.) Ok so I'll go sign up for cash game, kill some time. Me:How many you got for 4/8 holdem? Them: we have 7 tables running, the wait list is 216 players long. Me: 1/2 NL? Them: 187 people. Me: hahaha, ok bye. Go upstairs, guess I'll kill time watching college football. Nope! Breeders cup on every TV in the joint. Sat on my ass smoking butts for 4 hours watching horse racing. If you are going to run a huge WPT event, you would think you could eliminate a few cash tables, or set up a few more, so that people can attempt to satellite into it. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
I've never had anyone check me at the 1-2, but I have at the 2-5. Even so, I think I prefer to leave the bluffing for after I'm seated. During the week when there's no tourney on, I'm usually fine, so I might just wait another week or so.

The best I can get at Foxwoods is a 4/8 with a half-kill Omaha hi/lo game (since I'm not bankrolled for 75/150, the next jump up) But while the WPT is in town, I can find O8 or mixed games (SHOE, OE, HOE and HORSE) ranging from 10/20 through 30/60 that I feel comfortably rolled for. And the players are awful, I mean really bad. |

In vegas, big namers get stuff all the time for no reason from the casino, including calls like "you should come down to this game, it's super juicy." Besides, I think a bunch of people have already said you can't do it anymore with the new system. If that's how it is, that's how it is. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't actually, I go maybe at most once every other month on average. Definatly not since August 15th (I'm a 1L). Yet I figured out the "trick" years ago one of the first times I went. Again, I think in basically every business repeat customers get perks. Casinos are HUGE about that (comped rooms teh more you go and/or the higher limits you play etc), I don't really see how this is that much different. Also, recreational players don't know the difference. [ QUOTE ] That said, big weekend for the Deacs coming up in Talahassee. Should be a good game. The Deacons will have every oppurtunity to make up for last week and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory about halfway through the 4th quarter to make up for last week. As they usually do. Mark. My. Words. Also, BC is at least 0/3, possibly 0/4 now (I can't remember) at Wake. |

Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
I'll be down this Wednesday. Heading early so I can get signed up prior to 9am for cash games.
Got a 2 bed suite at Two Trees for the night, plus it has a pull-out couch. If anyone else is in need of a place to crash after playing poker for 18 hours, please lemme know and we can meetup and split costs. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
Here is a different plan that has worked, and you don't have to steal someones name.
Foxwoods allows "reseats" to any player who is at a table. You get 2 hours (usually to eat) and then when you come back they put you 2nd on the list. So all you have to do is go to the desk, say "i would like to sign out for a reseat" they ask what game you were playing and you say whatever game you want to get into. (I usually get some chips from the cage to make it look like i just left a table). Then you leave for 20 minutes, come back and check back in, then you are 2nd on the list. |

Besides, I think a bunch of people have already said you can't do it anymore with the new system. If that's how it is, that's how it is. [/ QUOTE ] It is still soooo possible to do this even with the "new system." If they ask for your wampum card to verify your initials, you just say "I don't have a Wampum card." There is no requirement that you hold one to play. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
I was there on Saturday early morning (thank God!) by noon the board was several pages deep for any game. People were waiting 3 hours or more to get on any table.
Peace, Mygtar |

ps. anyone who posted about cutting/stealing names really looks like a huge scumbag. i am by no means a nit, but have some class.
you guys who cut are probably the same ppl who constantly switch lanes during rush our, because OH LOOK! THE OTHER LANE IS MOVING FASTER. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
ghazban, i was thinking about showing up around 1pm... but now i am thinking that wont work. so maybe 9am? earlier...
thnx for the info. |
Re: Wait time at foxwoods during WPF
It's kind of hard to say when is optimal for the bigger games. If they've been going all night, earlier is better (like 9 or 10 AM at the latest) because the list will fill up pretty quick and the floor often seems loathe to start new games. If the game breaks the night before, it can take until 11 AM or so the next day for a big enough list to fill for them to want to start a new one. I think the 20/40 goes constantly year-round (someone correct me if I'm wrong; I don't really play it so I'm not as attuned to it's status) so it should certainly be going whenever you get there. Bigger games (50/100, 75/150, etc.) seem less likely to run overnight but that's hard to gauge with the tournament in town.
For example, I went last Sunday and got on the list for 5/10 NL at about 9 AM. The list was 8 people deep at that point and there was one table going. They were about to open a 2nd game around 9:45 when two guys left the already existing game. They started calling names off the list and 3 people weren't there so the next two got it and we were left with a 3-person list and they gave up on starting a new table. It was another half-hour or so before I got a seat. If the two guys in the game hadn't left right at that moment, we probably would've started a new 5-man game right at 9:45. |

Thursday afternoon. It is going to be insanely busy this weekend. Think Times Square on 12/31/99 [/ QUOTE ] You think it will be busier than last weekend? I thought that the lower buy-in tournaments last weekend were the reason it was so packed and that it might actually be a little less crowded this weekend, since the riff-raff won't be ponying up $10k to play on Sunday. Am I dreadfully wrong? If so, I'll save the time. |
