MMF project web host list
 

To try and keep from having too many people signup with any one host I am making this thread to track it. Just trying to avoid ending up with 50% of the sites hosted by the same webhost as that hurts the value of the link. Please either PM me, or post here if you are in the mmf project once you have signed up with a webhost.

I will keep this post updated as more people signup for hosting. Also if you want to recommend a host, go ahead and post that too. I will keep a list of those as well. I am thinking that 5 might be a good number to use as a max for a given host. Comments are welcome.

That's a great idea and a really cool offer.

However, let's keep this kind of stuff either in the main project thread or in any specific "Step" threads that it applies to to avoid cluttering up the side threads like this one.

I'm using hostmonster.com and recommend them.

I don't want 50k hits a week. Hits mean nothing by themselves. The best description I read was HITS = How Idiots Track Sales.

Now, send me 5k interested unique visitors a week and we're talking (hell, 50 interested uniques a week would be good too).

I should probably comment that I would not particularly recommend my host. I am using these guys mainly because my personal website and email account has been with them for a few years and I didn't do much research. Getting drupal configured has been more of a hassle than it probably should be and I don't feel like I'm getting as much storage space or bandwidth as some of the deals I've seen out there.

That said, their customer service has been extremely responsive when I've needed help, so that's definitely one point in their favor.

We also might want to post the first number in our sites IP address too, in case some hosts are on the same Class C block. My IP address starts w/ 65.

For those of you using Hostmonster I was wondering if they have something setup so you can track traffic on your website? Also has anybody else had trouble coming up with a domain name?

If your host doesn't offer traffic stats (although most do, it's just a matter of finding out where), go with google analytics (it's free) -

I am using Dreamhost - after 1 week, I can report no issues. And for those discussing earlier, Dreamhost does offer the 1-click installation for Joomla!, I believe it is an in-house development though and not Fantasticom
