Post the most viscous fight you have witnessed

Just curious to hear about other fights that you have witnessed at local B&M's. The best one I saw was two old men in their 70's stand up and yell obscenities at the top of their voices because one player was leaving, wanted to play his last hand, and refused to take his rack off of the table. The best part was when one of them said, "Well stand up, bitch." It was just too funny to see too old men get that angry about something so trivial.

The usual fights I see occur between two younger guys, usually after one puts a bad beat on the other, and then the other targets him for the rest of the night, then they end up uttering "[censored]" underneath their breath, yet audible enough to be heard. If it doesnt escalate to a fist fight, one usually challenges the other to the proverbial fight in the parking lot.

Post your favorite.

Not exactly "viscous" but at my local room last week some drunk at the bar punched some kid flush in the jaw as he walked by for "eyeing him funny"... Poor kid wasn't even looking at the guy, he was just checking the score of the hockey game on the TV behind him on his way to the can.

twice someone has struck someone else in the same room as me, but i witnessed neither.

once at turning stone, im playing 1-3 spread like the third time i ever played poker in my life (i thought i was god bc i read super system too haha) - some dude sucked out on the river in the 80-160 game or whatever they spread there, and the other dude punched him.

again two days ago saturday night in the high limit area of borgata - im in a hand at 5/10nl and hear a very audible thunk - we all turn around and two tables over a guy just whaled on another guy in the blue game.

Seen a small Asian guy hit a 60 year old drunk with a rack for patting him on the back at CAZ.

Best part was when the old man got up and kicked the asians ass that was at least 35 years younger, and sober.

Learned something that night. The floor actually cannot break up the fight. They must try to protect everyone else, but wait for the police to break up the fight.

Sitting at Pechanga one friday night near the higher center tables when a tournament was finishing up (they almost always finish on the top tier tables). There was this youngish guy (late 20's - early 30's) there that was drinking it up and having fun with a few buddies in the room. He was talking up a storm but not being aggressive or out of line. All of sudden you hear "Shut The F UP" from the guy to his left at the table. Everyone looks then goes back to playing. 3 minutes later there is a "I said SHUT THE F UP" and the guy knocks him to the floor with a right cross to the jaw. Drink tables flying and broken glass. The assaulter runs for the exit at the poker room. Problem is the poker room is on the second story of the casino and you have to exit through the casino on the bottom floor. Guy never made it down the stairs before security knabbed his a$$.

Saw 1 quick fight at The Excalibur poker room and one incident there that saw two guys asked to leave complete with a whole bunch of security escorting one of them out.

1st one was at the NL table next to mine and a guy at the table and a railbird get into it. Guy on the rail was smoking and the guy in the game was asking him to blow his smoke somewhere else. Can't remember exactly what happened after that but food was thrown and the guy at the table stands up and the railbird hits him right in the eye. Security is there in about two seconds and the guy from the table is bleeding pretty good from above his eye and they are both being escorted out!

The other one was when a drunk is playing and talking like he is god's gift to poker. Wearing a hat and sunglasses at a 2/4 game where everyone else is pretty much having fun. He keeps picking on one guy at the table who is middle eastern and keeps beating the drunk. The middle eastern guy finally tells the drunk to watch his language (he keeps swearing) and the drunk keeps telling him that he wants to take him outside and "kick his AZZ"!! Just about them the floor walks over as the middle eastern guy has enoug and just tells the drunk to "Shut UP". Floor proceeds to call security and is kicking them both out. Drunk goes to the bathroom, to puke, and I go over to the floor guy, who is walking back to the desk by now, and tell him that the middle eastern guy was certainly NOT out of line and should not be getting thrown out. He comes back to the table and asks what the others thought and everyone says that drunk was the aggressor and there is no way the other guy should be 86'd. Floor come back a couple of minutes later and lets us know he talked to the middle eastern guy and told him what the table said he was welcome to stay. He still left but came back and thanked us all, shook hands, collected what used to be a bunch of the drunks chips and left. Not really a fight but it got pretty intense for awhile. I think if the drunk would have gone after the other guy everyone at the table would have gone after the drunk as well!

When I was at the Ballys circuit event during one of the Limit Holdem events last year this 60 year old ex mobster was playing the limit event and yapping the whole time when he said something that prompted a 20 something to tell the old guy to go F-himself, the old guy screamed that nobody talks to him that way, and DOVE OVER the table to get at the youngster... It took 3 floor guys to get the old dude away from the kid.. Grandpa kept screaming how he was going break the kids f-ing legs, etc... all the way out the door...

I've put in thousands of hours in poker rooms and I've never seen a real physical altercation. I see all kinds of posturing, lots of puffed out chests and language that'd make a longshoreman blush, but nobody has ever taken a swing at anybody. I've actually counted my stacks a couple times so I'd know how much was there in case bodies started tumbling over tables, but it's always been defused by the floor or a cadre of security dudes. This just isn't fair. I shouldn't have to buy a ticket to UFC to see a good street fight.

I watched a similar fight (attempt to fight)in July and the Excalibur security walked the guy pretty hard before it was over. Sometime between July 14th-16th. The money I saved with the Poker rate was not worth the 5 or 6 hours a day in that room.

You need to play more in LA. Also I know of a great fight that took place at a poker club in Canada minutes before I got there. I left and checked into a hotel becasue it looked like it would take hours to clean up. I guess an NHL player (at the time the name was kind of familiar, but I am not a hockey fan) got in a fight in a poker club.

Silver Star maybe a year ago.

Drunk redneck guy is drinking one shot of Crown and one beer as fast as the waitress can bring it, say 3 maybe 4 an hour. Drunk guy has 1/2 the table tilting and is talking all manner of crap when this good ole boy from South Alabama takes exception to one of his “you must be slow or something” comments. I see it coming and wanting to keep the peace I stand up like a [censored] and try to talk him out of pounding this drunk and getting get kicked out. He checks up but the floor is called and they're both told to cash out, at the same time. Anyway, the drunk guy (I'm told by a dealer friend because I have my back to the action) ask the big guy (twice his size) if he wants to go out side and get his ass kicked. To which he replies "nope" and he lays the drunk out at the brush stand. I didn't see it but the sound of the punch was amazing.

That had to hurt.

I didn't witness the fight but I have a friend who got into an argument with an old timer at Mandalay Bay. Old timer proceeded to reach underneath the table, take off his prosthetic leg, and hit my friend.

This is a no bull-[censored] story.

That's about what I hear all the time. "Oh, dude, you shoulda been here an hour ago. It took 6 security guys to take this guy out and they had to taser him finally to get him in cuffs. And you know I never knew that people who are tasered sometimes lose control of their bowels--boy that was gross." I always leave an hour too soon or show up an hour too late. Maybe it's that I'm a calming influence on the poker room and people are just less likely to get into altercations in my presence.

This one upset me. I had driven a few hours to get there and when I walked in they were keeping players back beccasue there were chips everywhere and the table had been knocked over. I guess the NHL player took the worst of it in the fight.

'Wow' at all the horrid behavior by supposed adults in card-rooms all across the country.

I just can't imagine getting that upset over something as silly as poker.

Then again, I've had a couple of minor 'incidents' in my rec-league soccer games that I'm not exactly proud of.
And we're all sober and are not playing for money so I'm not really sure what our excuse is there.

Re: Post the most viscous fight you have witnessed

This story is at a blackjack table, rather than at a poker table. It happened at Harrah's in Joliet several years back. I'm sitting first base, drunk is second base and guy who is stuck a ton is sitting third base.

Drunk keeps hitting on 15's against the dealer's 6, etc. As a result, third base is literally losing every hand and boldly mentions to the drunk, "Why would you hit there? You just cost me a lot of money!" The hands are dealt again and the same thing happens. This time third base yells at the drunk to which the drunk exclaims, "Shut up!" Third base says, "Don't tell me to shut up, you tell me to shut up one more time and you will be flying out of here like Superman!" Next hand, same thing. Loses a huge split, double down hand. He yells some more and the drunk tells him to "shut up" once again. Third base yells "Don't tell me to shut up!" and at that time the drunk stands up, exclaims "Let's go!" and just blasts him.

Now third base didn't fall out of his chair or anything because the way he was sitting, he absorbed all 100% of the punch. You heard the hit for about a 30 foot radius, it was that loud. After the punch landed, third base got up and they just started exchanging punches. Chairs were knocked over, chips were all over, etc. At about this time, a 5'3 guy from across the room comes flying through the pit area to break the fight up. He stands between the behemoths trying to break it up as they are still swinging. A few seconds later, a bunch of security guards emerge and take control of the situation. One of the security guards has the drunk pinned against the wall and he starts to resist. The 6'5 280lb security guard locks his hand behind his back and doesn't stop applying pressure because now the drunk is wincing in pain.

After sanity was restored, one of the supervisors asked the 5'3 guy why he got in the middle of the fight to which he replies, "I used to be a bouncer."

Re: Post the most viscous fight you have witnessed

Two years ago at Harrahs in New Orleans during the WSOP circuit event. Young local (kind of thuggish) Asian guy in my 20-40 game had just returned to the table from dinner. He told his friend who was playing over him to get up because he wanted to play (instead of letting his friend wait till the BB got to him). So after some arguing that slowed the game down, his friend gets up; and the Asian guy sits down and tells the dealer to give him a hand.

The Asian guy looks at his hand, and then tries to fold once the action gets to him. The dealer tells him that he can fold, but he still needs to post a BB. (Now the Asian guy was a local that knew the rules.) The Asian guy refuses to put up his BB, and a bunch of people start bitching and the floor is called.

One 20 something in particular is really bitching to the floor about the Asian guy's behavior, and the Asian guy tells the 20 something to shut the [censored] up. After the floor makes the Asian guy post his BB and play continues, Asian guy keeps calling the 20 something a "little bitch."

The Asian guy tilts off all his $ in like 30 minutes with the final blow being struck by the 20 something. What happened next I remember watching it like it was in slow motion. Asian guy gets up out of his seat, grabs his beer bottle, casually walks over to the 20 something, and swings with all of his force, smashes the bottle over the 20 somethings head, and casually strolls out of the poker room.

Security immediately grabs the Asian guy before he left, and the game had to be stopped to clean the table. But the best part is that after giving a statement and getting bandaged up, the 20 something came back and played for another 4 hours.

Not in a card room, but too good not to repeat. I was shopping in Whole Foods of all places after work. It was pretty crowded and these two women start arguing over something. Next thing you know, one throws the other to the ground, she hits her head and starts bleeding. Needless to say, security quickly got involved.

I've never seen a fight in a card room, but then again, I'm almost never at a table with two ladies [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
