Supposedly, it's mid-November, according to this press release.

The poor dealers...is this the future? No tipping at least. Any idea on the rake at these tables?

Hollywood Park added them ,and from what I understand the rake is the same as the live dealer tables(great idea guys )

yah I was there a few days ago, for those of you who know the room they are going in the back left if you are where the board signup is and you are looking towards the floor station in the back of the room.

3 table are coming they are losing the stud tables on the floor to make room for them since stud has been running only 1 day a week or so.

So, um, please excuse my ignorance but do you play with real cards or what? How do these things work?

Kevin,

In case you or anyone else missed it you might want to check out this thread. I posted several times and I've played quite a bit during and since and plan on posting some summary comments in the next day or two.

I saw these at the Seminole Hardrock in Tampa. The few people playing seemed like they wanted to shoot themselves and others... plus the rake was nuts. Any idea on the rake of Turning Stone machines?

Re: Turning Stone to add electronic poker tables

According to a sign I saw, they are only using them for SNGs.. I can't remember the buy-ins or the fees though...

It'll be interesting if they use them for SNG satellites on tourney week, and I'm sure they will.. Because with the 15 minute structure, you'll get more hands in and it'll be less of a crap shoot.

Just to clarify- the Lightning Poker tables that are going into Turning Stone are not the same product as the PokerPro tables installed at Hollywood Park.

I'm very interested to see thoughts from the first few people to have played both products.

yea i was there today for the noon tournament...finished 10th blah QQ no good against KK first hand of the final table.....floor told me they would be running 50-100$ sit n goes, im pretty much against them but i will definately try them out because i can only imagine the people who will be playing them.....and there is some sort of leaderboard thing they are doing and also a chance to win a seat to play against Raymer??? They better not stop running stud games i played a little bit today those nits are fun to play with, the stud always runs on friday around noon tho its a fun game

this is the greatest news ever, if it allows real sit and gos to enter casinos instead of the [censored] structure foxwoods has it will be amazing.......i just hope that weak players arent afraid of them

Thanks for the clarification. I Googled around a bit, apparently these companies are involved in a lawsuit.

Anyway, here are the home pages for Lightning Poker and the Poker Tek versions.

From my experience playing the technology is not earth shattering. The key is proper implementation in the right spot. On that note I still hope to comment in detail on Hollywood Park's implementation of the PokerTek variant. My draft is about 75% written, hopefully I'll be able to get it up in the next day or two.

From the looks of it I need to get it right; sure don't want to get sued.

To top it off Hollywood Park's drop ($4 + $1) on the small 1/2 blind NL games (the only NL game that seems to go at the eTable) is the highest in town. Out of morbid curiosity I've directly witnessed three pots where everything was dropped (e.g., one limper, SB folds, no further called action). The way it's done is absolutely comic.

If you are curious as to why I would play in such a game I had already cashed out in a bigger 5/10 or 3/5 blind NL game in the main room and was actually hoping for a tight game so I'd perhaps end up in the BB in a one limper pot so I could plagiarize this story.

As an aside, did play the eTable a few times when the game was good and had some nice cashes. I enjoyed the speed and feel of the game and think it has a chance done right.

Note that I didn't start the thread; rather it was started by the Hollywood Park ePoker Room Manager Jay "po-Jay-to" (2+2 posting name) Siegel. Seems like a nice guy; hope he didn't get shot for putting himself in a position where he would be getting feedback from the likes of people like me and others on this forum.

For that matter, I hope I don't get shot. One thing it took me a long time to learn about cardroom management in LA is that they tend to practice "kill the messenger".

One thing I would stress is that the casino end of it (or how the two competing companies interact with any casino they are partners with) matters a lot more than the eTable product, which is relatively simple when you think about it.

so youd prefer that they dont run single table sats to juice the prize pools for tournaments?

just about every losing college internet poker player that i know of is most comfortable playing SNG's, and if this is what it takes to get more of them in the door, i'm all for it.

From looking at these pics, it seems like you could just look at your opponents monitor and see their cards... wtf? are they tilted in some special way that you can't???

Card protection is no problem. Touch the screen in a designated spot and the corners of the cards are revealed. Easy to conceal with your hands or whatever. Even if you don't the protective screen would make it nearly impossible for someone sitting to your side to see your cards.

Too late to edit: "Impossible" is too strong a word. Even if the player doesn't protect his eCards with his hand, it's very hard to see through the individual screen's protective covers from the side.

Re: BOYCOTT!!

My opinion has changed on these tables as I am for them TO AN EXTENT NOW.

After doing some research on rake and stuff I think that I would want a FEW of these tables in the room under these circumstances.

1) They have a jackpot drop.

I'll stay at my hand dealt game. While my odds of winning a jackpot might go down a little since the electronic tables will be playing 2x as many hands as me. The jackpots I do win will be 2x's as big.
Bigger Jackpots = more players woo

You've been pretty strong on your logic in many of your previous posts but you are missing something here.

Let's say table A and table B both share the same jackpot pool. Assume table A is much faster than table B. Assume this is not due to the betting action (i.e., games where people play any ace or any pair are more likely to hit a jackpot); rather, it is due to the speed of the dealer and players.

Table A is more likely to hit a jackpot in any given time period, but it also contributes more to the jackpot pool in that same time period. The chances that either table will hit a jackpot for any given hand are the same.

OTOH, if the jackpot is offering an overlay that will disappear once the jackpot is hit, you want to play at the faster table.

A part of me is intrigued by these new tables as I have tried the demo version during the Borgata Classic. The other part of me reall, really doesn't want to see these things catch on and become the norm instead of standard B&M tables. I mean, if I wanted to play video game style poker I would stay home and be on my computer.
