Stars games suck now
 

I've been playing the 5/10 at Stars for a few months now. Since the VIP program the games are definitely way worse now (ie. there are more better players)
I think it's time to move back to Party.

yea I saw this coming..not good. PS short low/mid NLHE and LHE games have been a goldmine for the last year-little appreciated by most and now with all the grinders moving in to accumulate VPP's for freerolls etc games will degrade no doubt.

Funny how I have both noticed the opposite at my 1/2 and 2/4 games, and heard the opposite from people I know at the 30 game and up.

apparently, lots of players are migrating over to stars for their vip program. Lack of rakeback at party, and a good vip program at stars is enough to lure the high volume players over. And this is only the second day. I guess players are finally showing party what they think of their party store. LOL

What have the 1/2 and 2/4 raked hand percentages looked like in the past? So far, they look VERY dismal (25% & 45%) compared to what I anticipated

That's the irony of it, when a site comes up with a good VIP program/rakeback/something good for large volume pro's, it tends to attract them, and that reduces how good the site is.

Table: Jupiter, 2/4
Avg Pot: $18
Plrs/Flop: 17%

Table: Phemios IV, 2/4
Avg Pot: $18
Plrs/Flop: 21%

Table: Patria, 3/6
Avg Pot: $18
Plrs/Flop: 16%


I'm sure these tables are beatable if you're sharp enough, Weak-tight rocks for the most part I would guess.
And obviously these are the worst of the bunch.
But many of the other ones are not significantly better and, while beatable, they certainly aren't wildly profitable.


Remains to be seen whether I will rack up points there or not.
Sitting at full-ring tables with 3-4BB avg-pot and 20% or less players/flop is NOT my idea of good table selection.

Also, it looks like there software currently limits the number of 5/10 6 max games to 12.

I've noticed the Stars effect in the Party games actually. Lots of my old villains are suddenly gone. And there was much rejoicing. (Ok, I'd be on Stars as well, if it weren't for the quantum madness of Swedish tax law, but let me rejoice in small ways atleast!)

This must be true in the shortterm but now pokerstars have a really attractive package to market to fish and one that encourages fish to play more - they are going to love the free tvs etc. Plus all the money from us lot will help pay for the marketing.

I think it will be a good thing and I always wanted to play more at stars and I want that big tv.

One thing that I learned during my 100K hand odyssey last year was to be careful with not letting the desire to rack up hands destroy my EV. It is difficult to balance table selection with getting the points in, but is more profitable in the long run.

The full tables really seem tight right now, I'm looking a lot more at the 6 max, omaha and stud. My track record on short limit tables is not good, but this might be a good time to put some time into learning that genre better.

And of course, if it looks too bad I still have a lot of uncleared bonuses on other sites. I'm hoping things will improve in a few days/weeks, I really like playing at Stars.

yeah, i think this will really attract the newbies into stars. They can play at stars and get nice free electronics rather than play at party and get nothing. Here's hoping the fishies will migrate to stars as I've been looking for a reason to play at stars for a while.

For what it's worth, I had my best single-day ring game results yesterday on Stars 3/6. Despite what a quick look at the stats would say, the tables were not filled with very good players.

Just looking over the average pot size of the full limit tables at the lower limits and it is definitely not looking good.

As far as tournaments (single and multi-table), they seem to be relatively unaffected by the VIP program (as they should- it is much harder to accumulate VPPs at these tables).

I still say hope that this program will continue to draw players; even if the games are not quite as juicy. I'm hoping this would force Party to finally come up with an equal program.

Just curious, what at what rate would you have to get FPPs for tourney entry fees in order to make it "worth it"? Maybe I should run a poll.

i just played a bunch of 3/6 6max LHE and the tables were sick good

there was a 90/4/0.2 player that called me down MULTIPLE TIMES with Q hi no draw, just sick sick sick

I'm playing the $22s right now and am clearing 10FPPs per SNG, which takes about 75 minutes. I would be making more than double that if I were playing $2/4.

I agree you can rack up lots of FPP's playing lots of sng's, but I highly doubt you'd earn less than 10 FPP's in 75 minutes of 2/4

I have to agree with the people who say its softer. I don't think PP and PS calculate their average table stats the same for pot size.

There are many donkolicious players on stars right now unfortunately when they're raising into their gutshots they're making them

Shockingly, my analysis of my opponents' play can go beyond what my results are. These games aren't Party good, but they're not exactly filled with fearsome players either.

From the perspective of Party softness, there is no doubt in my mind that the Party 5/10 limit games have softened noticably. I assume this is due to TAG's migrating to Stars. Unfortunately, it hasn't yet turned into profits for me. Here's hoping, Mahogany17

i've been playing the 5/10 to 10/20 games on stars and they seem to be as good as the party games.

i've only been playing on stars for a couple of weeks now, though. i'm assuming the games will get tighter.

I played 2K today. The games seemed fine to me. 5/10 looked a little tight around 11pm so I started replacing the 5/10 tables with 3/6 ones for the last hour I played.

Lots of college kids just got a lot of money that they didn't work for and (many) have nothing to do for the next week or two besides watch tv, eat dinner with mom and dad, and play poker when they go to bed.

At the micro/lower limits you have lots of college kids with limited experience that are "gambling hard" with 100 bucks. This makes games good. At the 2/4 and up you have a lot of college kids who have made money/broke even at poker, know what they are doing, are multitabling TAGS, and since they just heard about stars VIP program and because the idea of free [censored] is cool, decided to try out stars.

This is just my theory.

In March I would love to see numbers on stars from Dec 20th - Jan 15th compared to stars from Jan 15th-Feb28th, and then compared with stats from Nov 1 - Dec 20th. Since I don't play stars much anyway because I like my all black party background, I couldn't do this myself.

I actually moved from party 10/20 to stars 3/6 for the day for the sole reason of joining the VIP club.
