Moneymaker Punked in Dublin

I wish I had money to play in the bigger game. They are just giving it away and Moneyaker is leading the charge. I was playing 1-2 euro nl right behind the big game here in Dublin (10-20 NL i think). Somehow Moneymaker was up in this game if it tells you anything. He was up about 7k. Raymer was in the game and so was Andy Black. Anyway, big hand came down. The game was being strattled to 40 or 80, a guy on the button made it 450 to go. Moneymaker in the big blind makes it $1500 to go, everyone folds to the button who calls. The flop is QQ5. Moneymaker leads out 1900. Button comes over the top 6k. Moneymaker goes into the tank and finally pushes all-in. The button has like 2k left and calls. Moneymaker flips over his hand and says I think I am ahead. He shows AK. Absolutely nothing hahahahaha. Button doesnt turn his hand over. Turn is a 10 and river is an 8. Guy on the button flips over 89 and scoops a monster with just 8s. How can the guys in the "big game" play so poorly. The way they play they would get chewed up playing 1-2. How can Moneymaker think he could possibly be good there, he had Ace freaking high. A pair or twos beat him much less a Q. The other guy must be nuts too. Need to build and bankroll and I will hunt Moneymaker down and take the rest of whatever he has left

3bet preflop, bet/fold the turn.

Re: Moneymaker Punked in Dublin

Another horrid hand happened in this game too. The so called "World Champions" have to be going broke playing this poorly. Hand earlier in the session, Raymer on the button makes it 1k to go. A young kid in the big blind oves all in for 7k more. Raymer goes into the tank and says if his hand was just alittle better he would insta call. Raymer finally calls and flips up KQ lolololololol. How do you call off 7k chips with KQ. They must not care about the money. He was somehow right and the kid turned up Q8. An 8 on the flop doubled the kid up however. Two world champs leading the donk charge with stupid calls. God I need a bankroll. BTW I am up $1200 on the trip thus far so I am making it, another 2k or so and I am going to go make a fourtune off "World Champs". What a joke

1.To give you a chance to browse the different forums so you can figure out the right place to post this drivel. This is the high stakes LIMIT forum. Go spam News, Views, Gossip or High Stakes No Limit (those guys will appreciate your contribution...)

2. It will give you a little time to practice putting a coherent thought into writing.

Your coherent thought is that Moneymaker and Raymer made two great reads, and got sucked out on, and this somehow makes them "bad players"? Please go back to your kiddie game down the street...

It's not that. I think I speak for everyone when I say you are welcome to post threads. It's just that this one seems more like gossip than strategy. There is a forum for gossiping or people who are fans of well known players.

One other posting hint:

You're starting out by making a fool of yourself with claims that you're going to crush the likes of Greg Raymer. I've played with Greg and my money would definitley be on him to make mincemeat out of you. You weren't IN the game and have no idea what made Greg call. That he was correct to do so, is most likely NOT a coincidence!

So if you're going to post, throw a little strategy around either asking or giving. But try and stay away from outrageous claims. I'm very sure that in the case of Raymer, you have no idea what you're talking about.

[/ QUOTE ] clearly, despite your read on your opponent, the main concern should be how strong your hand is relative to the top 10 hands chart.

Maybe I am just a new fish, but I make money at lower stakes and I dont "read" players. I make the best hand and bet, plain and simple. These two guys are calling off thousands of dollars with nothing but a "read". I don't think you can read someone that well to know your garbage is better than his garbage. Although Moneymaker was confident when he turn his hand up and said he had the best hand when the money went in. I just don't see how. I fiqured with how bad Moneymaker is I could beat that game if he could.

kq preflop is not trash if people are going nuts with nothing all the time which i strongly suspect was the case here. AK high on a paired board is not trash for above reason. i have a feeling this was a wild game and everyone was taking shots at the "champs." OP you are extremely short sighted, and very likely terrible at poker. peace.

Now that it's here, OP post MS paint graphs in dollars or get banned.

Sounds like he made a sick read to me. Sucks that Moneymaker has been getting cold decked for the past 3 or so years. I fully expect a deep ME run next year for him. Harrah's will announce their online pokersite being launched when he is at the final table.

QQx flop for an AK isn't that bad of a flop at these stakes. In fact, MM called it dead on when he said he was ahead. Why don't you redo the original post through the eyes of the player who was behind and ask yourself who really played the hand poorly.

What makes a world champion is great reads, not conventional play. In both cases, the world champion got the money in a big favorite.
