Crypto $50 MTT, down to 49 players from 131

I'd been moved to this table about 10 hands ago and have already seen villain reraise all-in preflop with J7s up against KK and hit a J7xx7 board to double-up.

Cryptologic
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $100/$200
9 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $4868.50
UTG+1: $3205
MP1: $2535
MP2: $2290
Hero: $4545
CO: $1975
Button: $5200
SB: $6050
BB: $2945

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP3 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG calls, 3 folds, Hero calls, 2 folds, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($800, 4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, <font color="#cc0000">UTG bets $200</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $1000</font>, 2 folds, <font color="#cc0000">UTG raises all-in $4668.5</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero ?</font>

What do we think of the raise and how do we respond to the re-raise?

Villain either has a set of aces or he's pretending he does. You're beating nothing here except a bluff and he has to think you've got two pair or better.

FWIW, I just call his silly flop bet.

I think he has you beat. When someone bets weakly then pushs over a raise he has a good hand. Is he doing that with A6? Maybe, but I really don't think so. Fold and be happy you made a good laydown.

So you're suggesting he slow-played aces preflop? That's some read based on a quarted pot bet followed by an all-in on the flop.

What about me being ahead to hands like AT which I would have thought was within his range?

Cheers

I'd raise a bit more, but I'll not get too excited about it. Yah, call. If he's on JT, hit one of your four outs.

It's in his range, yes. Hands like that and AJ and what else? KQ. AK. AQ. J10. QQ, KK, AA.

Granted, if this is the $50 at 10pm, then it possiby does have the highest fish to buyin ratio anywhere on the interweb but even here, he surely can'tbe expecting you to fold anything you've just raised?

I'd tink he would be raising MOST of those hands preflop, JT being an exception, perhaps.

That was my thinking.

And of course I called and he had the JT.

And I didn't hit one of my 4 outs

But I'm still not convinced it's a certain fold, especially given the odd hand he played earlier.

You see a lot of big hands limp reraised on Crypto and it's probably a +EV play with ten minute levels, big antes and lots of fish promoting aggressive play.

The hand itself is worth a stove when he's min-pushed. This certainly will be total nonsense a certain % of the time, but on the whole we've got to see this as two pair or better at least 90%.

However, I'd suggest that I am the 2+2 exert of Crypto donkaments - my peers here wouldn't be seen dead in such low company - and I'm sure that just calling his tw*t bet on the flop is the way ahead in this hand. No to say that I don't do it this way and not to say that I haven't seen 77 when I have.

Well there's your leak.

Seriously, once you identify the ATMs at your table (and this guy seems to be one), you should make it your business to get into pots with him even with hands that are a bit suspect. Once a guy has shown that he will go to felt with top pair no kicker, I'll hang around with AT and hope he hangs himself with A2. Sometimes he'll have AJ, and I'll look like the fish, but if you don't get his chips someone else will.

What's your screenname on Crypto? I used to play MTTs there a lot and always wondered if there were any 2+2ers amongst the sea of Europeans, so few of them actually respectable ... maybe you're TheirryH?? Most recently I've played as QuantumXG.

No - he's quite good though, huh. He and Noseyboy are always worth watching out for.

We've shared a few tables but never tangled. I'm Registrar more or less everywhere.
