Re: Getting 3bet on turn, but checked to on river

Can you fold to a raise? I probably 3-bet the flop.

Thanks,

Guido

if he c/red you with a made hand, why would he slowdown on a blank river? If he c/red with spades, he's not calling.

It feels like he'll either c/r you again or just fold a missed draw.

If he does have spades, given his flop c/r he may well also have a pair (Jxs) which will call the river cuz no one folds a pair. But I'm worried about a straight/monster of some sort or another missed draw (diamonds) so I still like a check.

Check. Looks like he's going for the pwnage. When he is a good player, you lose 2 bets. When is bad you make 0 and when he is awful you make 2. We will know which he is if you check so i check the 1st time.

easy river check. dude, is getting cute with a better hand way more often than giving up by check/calling.

I can handle the emotional hit of missing a thin river value bet better than the emotional hit from allowing him to pull off a trifecta.

Thanks all for replying. I checked but I was a little afraid that my recent results made me a little weak. I guess not in this hand.
FWIW, opponent showed Jxs.

You run good. I'm trying to figure out WTF he has; he can't have JXdd, but maybe A8dd? I think river play is pretty close, but it's definitely not free money -- often aggressive opponents will either have a busted hand they won't be calling with (Axdd) or a hand they'll be checkraising. Sometimes they'll have a busted hand that hit somewhat, like A8dd or a simple JXs, but I'm not sure that those hands are usually 3betting the turn after the line you've taken.

What would he lead the river with?

Re: Getting 3bet on turn, but checked to on river

Better hands than 1-pair, which is why I asked if you're folding.

Re: Getting 3bet on turn, but checked to on river

interesting hand. I don't particularly like the check on the river since on the turn theres 2 different draws. It seems like he had one of those and yet wants to showdown. cuz he picked up some random pair of 3s or has A high or has Jx spades or has 8x diamonds. I'd be folding to a c/r on this river if I bet though. So I would only bet if I had my opponent pegged decently well.

Btw, you are kepplinger right? I rememvber playing tons of hands with you as either Fold_Dammit or StuckinChair.

Peter 10-19-2006 06:18 AM

Re: Getting 3bet on turn, but checked to on river

Yes, I was Kepplinger. I just posted a thread where I asked for advice on my play. Would you mind posting your thoughts on my play there: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post7710120

Thanks,

Just bet it, can't give an unknown too much credit in 10/20.

You should never be checking for this reason. Maintain your composure. Don't let your emotions lead you, just play the damned cards!!

With this draw heavy board and against an unknown, just check it through.

This is terrible

I prob bet call the river...however I bet fold If Im thinking clearly(this however accounts for maybe 50 percent of my playing time).

3bet flop check river. You don't wanna get raised and have to fold. Important to see his cards and know who/what you are dealing with.

Re: Getting 3bet on turn, but checked to on river

That's an expensive pot to lose to a c/r bluff. And although it's going to happen almost never, I've got to say it's a fine spot for one.
I would say bet if I thought that all his pair hands were calling a bet but I highly doubt this is the case, even for his Jxs hands.
