*Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Thread* 2
That other thread is getting pretty long and I feel its been getting less traffic as a result so I thought I'd give us a fresh start. I hope no one minds.
To start it off here is the last quesiton posed by NolanFan in the other thread. " Question. 14 team, fairly standard scoring league with yardage, etc. Start 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, te, k, d. My RB's are Willie Parker, Cadillac Williams, Frank Gore, and Laurence Maroney. My WR's are Torry Holt, Issac Bruce, Greg Jennings, Rod Smith, and Eric Parker. So, I'd like to try to upgrade my 3rd WR slot. Which RB do you try to deal? My thought is that someone like Gore might be easier to trade, and get a better WR in return. But Williams might have enough value after these last two games as well. Who do you gamble with the rest of the way? " |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Nolan-
Im a huge fan o having 3 solid RBs. Im not sure how many of your top three have already had buys, but at some point injuries could very easily become a concern as well. So with that said I would try to find a team who has basically nothing for a 3rd RB and try to deal them marony+one of your WRs for a better WR. Right now Id say jennings is the one most likely to be overvalued by your competitors but at the same time I really dont see you getting much for maroney and jennings. If that doesnt work I guess Id just sit tight for now and use those 5 you have to try to get the best matchups possible. |

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Who would you rather have, Rivers or Grossman?
Rivers has looked pretty solid thus far. Grossman had 5 good/great games and one awful one. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Rivers. Grossman weapons are nothing compared to Rivers.
|
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
NLS-
You could try seeing if he'll overvalue Travis Henry because of his game this week. Maybe Henry with Horn or something. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Rivers:
Pluses: Gates He plays Cleveland, STL, Oakland, Seattle, Arizona, Buffalo, and KC twice (not sure if this is that great), and Cincy Efficient Makes good decisions PLayed well against Pittsburgh and Baltimore Negatives First year starting QB No real great WR LT takes a TON of tds Plays Denver Twice Grossman Pluses Great at home Throws the deep ball well plays well with lead has decent WRs/TE Has favorable matchups throughout the year, SF, Jets, Stl, Tampa, Detroit. Team favors the pass to the run. Beats up on bad teams Minuses Arizona game showed that he's weak on the road. Running game isn't that great. Short They play NE and Giants on the road in November I'd go with Rivers but then again he's looked really good lately. I don't think you can go wrong with any pick although Grossman plays Tampa/ Det in the 15/16 weeks and Rivers plays Kan / Sea the 15/16 week. I think Grossman has a small edge there but their matchup is horrible for both. Another thing about Rivers is that just started to let him air it out and he's done a good job in the last 2 games doing that. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
NLSoldier,
it'll be hard imo to trade anything until stallworth gets healthier, but jackson does have a bye this week so now's as good a time as any to try to deal him one of the taylors and a good wr for a better wr. i don't think he'll want to take a guy with a bye (travis henry) because it doesn't help him right now, and he'll be hurting in the future on the trade until stallworth gets back. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
I'd like to try and take Holt from the worst team in the League.
My team:(Start QB, 2xRB, 3x WR, RB/WR, TE, K, DEF. Basic Scoring) sportingnews FF if anyone is wondering. QB-Brady, Brees, Hasselbeck RB- LJ, Fred Taylor, Droughns, Maroney and Mo Morris WR- Burress, Kennison, Keyshawn, Deion Branch TE- Heath Miller K- Josh Brown Def- Jax and Denver His Team: QB- Delhomme and Vick RB- Portis, Benson, McCallister, Jamal Lewis, and Ron Dayne(?) WR- Holt, Moss, D Jackson, Moulds, Greg Jennings TE- Bo Scaife and Dallas Clark K- Vanderjagt Def- KC I feel I have to make an upgrade of some sort. I was thinking Brees+Droughns but that feels like I'll be giving up a whole lot. Holt does have a bye this week. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Needle-
If you could get him for Brees and Droughns, I would definitely do it. Backup QB and backup RB for the best WR in the league? Hell yea, that's way lopsided for you. I seriously doubt he'll do that though. Nobody needs 3 QBs, not sure why you have 3. |

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Best Avaible player, Brees was still around in the 11th round I believe. I figure if he got better I could get better value out of him. Obviously if I knew what I was doing I wouldn't have to ask questions. My thinking was the guy is obviously desperate and Brees is better than Delhomme and Vick, but I'd be willing to give up Brady.

To get holt at this point you should expect to have to give up 2 starters, not 2 backups. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
I have a loaded team, but am smitten with bye's this week.
on my bench this week are Reubon Droughns Kevin Jones Deshaun Foster Dominick Rhodes Bernard Berrian (bye) Torry Holt (bye) my starting TE is Todd Head (#1 in the league) and my Defense is the Bears (#1 in the league). they are BOTH on byes this week, and both are too good to release. therefore those 2 will also be on my bench this week. so, I need both a TE and a D for this week only, but I think all my bench guys are too good to simply release. I am loaded at RB (starters are Ronnie Brown and Rudi Johnson) so it's maybe ok to release one of my bench RB's, but not both, right? what do I do? |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
KBZ,
now is a good time to package up some players in a trade, thus opening up spots on your roster. also rhodes and droughs are pretty much useless on that roster. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
i agree with xorbie,
id try to deal an RB or two. if you cant put a deal together that will open up two spots then I would just not start a TE, any TE you get off waivers is only going to have an EV of like 3 points anyways. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
My lineup is:
Pennington Leftwich LJ Julius Jones Maroney Travis Henry Chester Taylor Steve Smith Torry Holt Branch Reggie Williams Winslow Gould Vinatieri SD Is it worth it to move Smith or Holt and pick up a second big time RB like Portis, Tiki Barber, Rudi Johnson? Those are the only guys right now I think I would move him for Also apologize in advance for carrying 2 kickers. But I am a PSU grad and had to put up with Robbie Gould, plus he is exactly 1 year older than me so I have a weird fantasy attachment to him |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Spellmen-
You only have 4WRs, if you trade Holt or Smith, that leaves you without any depth at WR. I think you're already plenty strong at RB. Assuming 1QB/2RB/3WR, having guys like Julius and Taylor sit of the bench every week are wastes of roster spots. It's not worth weakening your WR lineup for that IMO. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Now one of mine. 10 team league. 1QB/2RB/3WR/1TE/1K/1D My team:
QB- Hasselbeck, Rivers RB- LT, Dunn, Edge, M Barber, Mo Morris WR- Chambers, Glenn, Ward, Williamson TE- Heap, Winslow K- Akers D- Pitt Since I don't really need 2 TEs, I thought it might be worth it to trade Heap (he has a bye this week) for a good WR. I'm just not sure what calibur WR I could get for Heap. Here are the 3 teams that are hurting most at TE. Possible targets in red. Team 1: QB- Bledsoe, Warner RB- Tiki, McGahee, Parker, Lewis WR- Driver, Berrian, Rod Smith, Reggie Williams, Cotchery TE- Witten K- Vanderjagt, Longwell D- Dallas Team 2: QB- Eli, Vick RB- Jackson, Maroney, Dillon, Benson WR- TO, Housh, Coles, Antonio Bryant TE- Cooley, Colston (who I hope will consider playing as a WR) K- Kaeding D- TB, NE Team 3: QB- Carr, McNair RB- Rudi, Alexander, Chester Taylor, Bush WR- Andre Johnson, Edwards, Fitzgerald, Stallworth, Branch, Baskett TE- Heath Miller K- Feely D- Bal Heap is the #1 TE in the league thus far so I should be able to get a good WR. Considering who I deserve for Heap, my opponent's need, and what you think will be accepted, who do you think is my best bet? |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
try to calculate how many points better Heap is than your opponents TE's. do the same for his WR's vs yours. try to package a win/win deal based on the points you will both gain.
I don't know off the top of my head which WR/TE deal is the best deal for you, but that is how I would figure it out. |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Only start 2 WRs so barring injury I haven't yet considered starting anyone but Holt and Smith on non bye weeks
|
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Two trades proposed to me by the same team.
My team's QB's and RB's: QB - C. Palmer, M. Brunell RB - E. James, C. Dillon, M. Jones-Drew, L. Washington His team's QB's and RB's: QB - Leftwich, P. Rivers RB - Tomlinson, D. Foster, T. Henry, W. McGahee, D. Williams Trade A proposal: P. Rivers and W. McGahee for C. Palmer Trade B proposal: B. Leftwich and T. Henry for C. Palmer He knows I'm weak at RB (James and Dillon haven't done squat) but is giving up Palmer (who is doing okay, but should deliver more as the season goes on) too much? He'll probably mix and match the QB/RB's he offered, so I could counter. I have KC and ARI's defense and a couple guys I could dump or trade 2 for 1 to someone else to make room on my roster. FWIW my team's ranked last. Thoughts? ScottieK |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
I'd take Rivers and McGahee in an instant, but I'm no expert.
|
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
I'd also take the McGahee deal.

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
10-team Yahoo League
1 point per reception, 1 point per 10 yards receiving, 20 yards for passing, start 3 WR's and a W/R spot My QB's: Rivers Delhomme Favre His QB's: Brees Manning My WR's: Jennings Galloway S. Moss Cotchery His WR's: Chambers A. Johnson Mason Glenn My TE's: Colston (also WR) LJ Smith He sent me an offer with Brees for Colston, which is a no-brainer rejection with Rivers getting hot. Would counteroffering for Andre Johnson be pretty bad? Thing is all my WR's sans Jennings and one week from Moss have been letdowns, so I've usually started Colston and Smith. My RB's are fine, so don't believe I need anyone else (Parker, Brown, Portis). |
Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
brees for colston seems like a total waste to me. If you can get johnson for him then I like it a lot.

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa
Lol....I will never understand why anyone would ever carry 3 QBs unless it's a start 2QB league. And now that guy wants to offer you a 4th one?!?!? Do these guys even look at what they're offering?
If you can get any of his WRs for Colston, I'd probably do it. In this order Andre > Chambers = Glenn > Mason. |

Keeper League LT trade
The way our keeper league works means that if I don't trade LT this year, I lose him. So here is the deal on the table:
I get Shaun Alexander and Lauwrence Maroney for LT. I get to keep Lawrence Maroney next year as my 3rd keeper because he is a rookie. How do you guys feel about that? |

Maroney has TREMENDOUS UPSIDE POTENTIAL! the NE Oline is very good, and they are all signed to medium/long term deals. if they resign TE Graham (likely) you're looking at a great run foundation for years to come, and Maroney looks like the real deal. |
Re: Keeper League LT trade
You get to keep 2 keepers each year, but no longer than 2 years. And you can keep a rookie keeper for one year. So if I didn't trade, i would have to keep, a second tier running back like deshaun foster and LT goes into the draft.
If I trade, I keep SA, Maroney and a WR. So, I have to trade LT, so the question is trying to get as much as I can. I was hoping you guys could give me your thoughts on Shaun Alexander for the next couple years? Is he gonna be a top back next year, or should I get something like Gore or Willie Parker and 1st round draft pick? |
Re: Keeper League LT trade
SA should be better than Parker or Gore, but I'm not sure he'll match last year's production ever again. I also wouldn't trade LT now, not until SA gets better. LT has some good games coming up and SA has... a broken foot.
|
Re: Keeper League LT trade
Interesting spot J_V. I think Alexander and Maroney looks like a good deal especially if he will let you wait another week till SA is healthy.

Colston so far has been more productive than Chambers and just as productive as glen, and hes playing at TE! I do agree that by the end of the year both of them may have better numbers than colston but I dont think by enough to compensate for the fact that you can use him as a TE. That said I think chambers would be my second choice because his perceived value is prob lower right now but I think his actual value is higher than Glenns. |
