\"Heroes\" episode 4

There is already a thread about "Heroes," but it was getting too long and someone requested that we start a separate thread for each episode. (original thread)

Yahoo! episode summary follows (may be spoilerish, but I think most of it was revealed in last week's preview):

"Heroes
09:00 PM ET -NBC-
Okay, I've gotten hooked into "Heroes" now. Fun stuff, eh? Tonight, Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) finally tracks down one of his father's mysterious genetically-advanced subjects, while Hiro's (Masi Oka) graphic novel-described plan backfires when he turns time to his advantage at a Las Vegas gambling table. Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) winds up in Vegas too, asking a wealthy contributor for additional campaign funds. In Texas, Claire's (Hayden Panettiere) healing abilities are put to the test -- but according to Issac's (Santiago Cabrera) paintings, her future could be filled with even more danger. Meanwhile, Matt's (Greg Grunberg) abilities are gauged by a pair of shady men who seem to know a lot about people like him."

I do, too, but it's pretty clear that he's the most powerful. The ability to warp all of time and space at will? Sheesh. All that pansy ass cop can do is read minds. Useful, but not for ass kicking. And the hot chick is useless w/o a mirror.

I'm definitely enjoying this show now. It took too long to get rolling, but I'm glad it did.

Yeah, making him the most powerful by far. Freeze time, pull out sword, game over.

The black guy who works with Bad Glasses Man might be able to stop him, he seems to be able to negate at least the cop's power.

He's too powerful, really. If you have a guy who can stop time and a guy who can predict the future what do you need, say, a guy who can fly or an invincible girl for?

I'm enjoying the show now, too.

The only cool part of this show is when they use their powers, everything in between is boring. They don't seem to do a good job of building suspense as to when and how they will use their powers, they just keep you waiting for nothing.

Re: \"Heroes\" episode 4

The question is, what kind of freaky menace do they have to save an invincible cheerleader from?

Also, I don't think hot/dissociative chick needs a mirror (unless its on her bedroom ceiling), thats just the only time she gets a glimpse of her alter-ego. Actually, I think she is the most interesting character, a show just about her would be interesting (lose the kid though).

btw, this is what the kid will look like in the future:

This show keeps getting better and better in my opinion. I find myself coming up with all these different theories about the characters and possible plots. Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but The other day I was flipping through a tv guide and it had a few descriptions about the characters and it said peter's power is that he is able to absorb others people's powers. This would explain him not being able to fly without his brother. I always thought his power was to fly.

A. The part about his power being able to mimic the powers of those near him was gone over extensively in this episode you morons. Why do you think he kept trying to visit the future telling painter?

B. there has been no precedent set in this forum for moderators imposing action against *spoilers*.

I agree it is good form to give warning against spoilers, but sometimes it is just freaking obvious that a spoiler is coming.

It may have been strongly hinted at, but it was certainly not explicitly stated. I only finished watching the episode 2 miniutes ago and haven't had much time to think about it, but I did not realize that was his power. That post spoiled it for me.

Gotta save cheerleader from her dad. Whether or not he's Sylar is another story. Plus the badass dude with him seems to negate people's powers. He might be one of those characters like the kid from X-Men 3 who takes away people's powers. Hiro rocks.

Is it me, or does anyone remember Ali's character talking to her ex's mom? And at one point during the conversation they mention his name, which turns out to be Sylar? Or am I dreaming this??

Which then leads me to believe that the Cheerleader's-father's goon is Sylar. Just because he seems kick-ass and could definately be the one murdering all those people.

Can anyone with Tivo check this one out for me?

Definetly. Changing another person's cards is the dumbest idea ever, when you can just change your own to better ones, or play in games vs the casino.

My wife just brought this up. She said Hiro should have either just looked at what the other guy had and told his friend so he could play accordingly, or stop time, look at the hands, and rig the deck.

Hiro has got to know that you can't just win, win, win. You gotta make it look good. Lose a bit. Don't bring attention to yourself.

Great idea, though. Stopping the roulette ball was pretty cool.

My favorite part of superhero movies are the parts where the hero learns to control their power. I think from that point everything will get more interesting. Also, I think this show will borrow from Lost and all the Heroes will find out that theyre all connected to each other way before they figured out they had powers.

The guy who can paint the future when he's high, how does he know when his paintings have happened? Like he knew that Simone kissed Peter under the umbrella. Minor plot hole, but still...

Haha, when Lost was on the air it didn't fit my schedule but I knew I wanted to watch it one day so I deliberately avoided all of those threads because I knew they would include spoilers.

I've watched about 9 episodes over the past 5 days now that it's online. It's allright, not overwhelmingly great, but not bad for a tv show.
