Brag: I got my MCAT results online last night
 

Made a 34, should be able to go to pretty much any med school with my GPA and extracurriculars.[img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Bring on the "good god i dont want a donk-n-go player operating on me" type responses.

This is by far the bigger brag. I'm a first-year, trust me, being able to pick your school is awesome, not worrying about being in crazy debt is phenomenal.

Depends on what he means by 7th highest, I guess. I mean, max score is 45, and I don't think anyone ever gets that. So if top score is 43, and he gets a 37 he can claim he had the 7th best.

I don't think that was his reasoning. I could believe his claim, he certainly was capable of it, but I don't know how he would know.

im supposed to be, but im on schedule to graduate next Summer so i can start a year early. Only reason i took august MCAT rather than april was because i had 20hrs of classes in the spring and finals were the week before the MCAT. Since i was already ahead of schedule i figured id just make it easier on myself.

Have fun with it. I also did well on the MCAT and approached my interview season with a lot of confidence. Once you get that first acceptance the entire experience becomes pretty fun. Travelling to beautiful campuses, new cities. Just don't stress about it too much and don't be that dbag at the interview who is bragging to everyone about his MCAT score...

Emory, UAB, Duke= b/c all are within a couple hundred miles of my family/inlaws. Johns Hopkins b/c its Johns Hopkins. Harvard b/c its harvard and i love boston (BC too).

last i checked, boston college doesn't have a medical school. you can always apply to the school of nursing though...gaylord!

congrats on the score. as a note of caution, do not expect to get admitted to more than one-three schools. my buddies had higher mcat scores then you (all three were summa cum laude at dartmouth), and each still only got into no more than 3 of 12 schools, despite interviewing well. of course, one has a full ride at michigan and the other two have partial rides at wash u and stanford, so they did okay for themselves....

this turned into a friends brag post. my bad.

not a problem, and yes "this should get me into one of my schools of choice" would have been more accurate. Many schools are almost impossible to get into if you arent from that state, and various other factors make it implausible to actually choose any one of those schools at one's whim.

my friend's girlfriend didnt want to brag and tell us her score, but she said her lowset score on the 3 sections was a 12.
My roommate hates the world as he got 13 or 14(I dont remember) on the science, 12 or 13 on the writing and 7 on the other section, giving him a really high score, but since you need at least on 8 on every section he is screwed.

Also, "Science" is divided up into two sections, Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences. The "writing" part that receives a numerical score isn't really writing at all but verbal reasoning. Writing receives a letter score and doesn't really matter at all.

As some other posters have noted, having your school paid for by your girlfriend's family may turn out to be a HUGE beat, but good luck with that too....

FWIW, unless you have ambitions about being a high powered academic sort of guy, it really doesn't matter too much where you go. Your residency is a lot more important, and while there is a bit of a "legacy" halo at some programs, it's just not that big a deal. Pick out a place you'd like to live, where the students seem a bit less psychotic than the norm. And don't kill yourself midway thru your second year - it gets better in the spring.
