Anyone know about the value of Super System 1st ED.
This is a 1st Edition of what became Doyles' Super System
titled, "How I made over $1,000,000 playing poker." Copyright 1978 by B & G Publishing Co. Anyone know if it has any collectable value? In fairly decent condition. Spine is in good condition, pages very white. I think a page has a small tear. Any ideas? |

Search here to see what used book dealers are selling it for.

Re: Anyone know about the value of Super System 1st ED.
Looks like amazon has used copies ranging from $188-600. They have things wrong with them like no dust jacket, rounded corners, tears, so your book likely falls in this range somewhere. If you're able to get Doyle to sign it for you, the asking price appears to jump into the $2000-2500 range. I'm sure that range will increase significantly when Doyle is no longer able to autograph books. Might be worth your time to track down Doyle next time he is making an appearance.

I wasn't advising the OP to get the book inscribed, then break Doyle's hand or anything. If you read my post, the book more than triples in value with the author's autograph. "And do what after getting an autograph?" I would say that's the OP's personal business. What I might do if I had a signed copy...hmmm...find a collector who would love to have a signed copy of the 1st edition, save it for my son, put it away until it becomes even more rare. I guess I could do whatever I wanted when I got it autographed. Come on!! |

Re: Anyone know about the value of Super System 1st ED.
It has been in the back of my mind to get it signed. Not just to increase the value of the book, but just to say I met one of the biggest poker legends. If I got the book signed it would be very hard to part with. I'm not planning on selling it, but you never know in the future.
It would be something to get it signed by all the guest authors. Caro, Reese, Baldwin, Sklanski, and Brunson. |

The rest probably tougher to catch up to, I am guessing especially Baldwin and Reese. You would probably have to just catch these guys at the perfect time or you'd be out of luck. Brunson promotes his site and books quite a bit, so he signs books quite a bit and has scheduled signing events, as does Caro. It would be tough to sell once you got a few autographs. Well, easy to sell, but tough to part with once you had such a nice item. |
Re: Anyone know about the value of Super System 1st ED.
Somebody posted a story in NVG a little while ago about Doyle taking them to breakfest, and somebody came up with a copy of it looking for him to sign. He made them a pretty substantial offer for the book right there on the spot because he no longer has a copy of it himself.

Re: Anyone know about the value of Super System 1st ED.
Someone posted a link to the whole Super System 2 book. It looked as if it was from the publisher or somethning. Does anybody have the link as I think the original thread is gone?

Re: Anyone know about the value of Super System 1st ED.
I believe it was a link to the doylesroom site where they have it up for free. I think the thread should still be around if you remember the title. I went there and checked it out when it was originally up. I already bought SSII long ago, so I wasn't happy to see the information there for people to read for nothing

It was just a link and the thread was unrelated to that link being posted if we are thinking of the same thread. It was just a few weeks ago. If I find it, I will give it a bump. EDIT: I went on a mission for you dude, here ya go. Link [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Anyone know about the value of Super System 1st ED.
It was a thread about how good is Sklanky's stud h/l section in Super System, which led to the link being posted. Search stud h/l or Sklansky and you'll find it, or check my post above
