Best Low -Mid Stakes NLHE Games Nationwide

Hi all I'm thinking about hitting the road for 2-3 months. I'll buy a new laptop, get a list of Masters swimming programs where I can swim daily and just try and find the fishiest damn cash NLHE games I can feel comfortable in. Make $$ return home, pay bills and repeat--thats my short-term plan. I'm actually looking forward to stop playing online and getting on the road.

Stakes I'm looking at are this: I've been playing online NLHE primarily last 2 years mustly $100-$500 online mustly $200. I've made almost $200K in the last 2 years playing online another $100K or so couple years before that.

I played b&m LHE for a living for almost 2 full years in Atlantic City and around the country. My main game was $15-30 LHE. I played $10-20 up to $20-40 LHE.

I know what a grind b&m poker is with the nasty daily swings blah blah.

I want to focus on sticking to NLHE mustly thu. ..I will play LHE if I must.

I thought it would be cool and informative to start a thread on what are the best low/midlevel deepish NLHE cash b&m games across the country.

I have traveled alot and safety is always foremost for me..but in my travels whether it be St.Louis, Kinder LA , New Mexico wherever sometimes the best action is not always in the best known rooms.

The level I'm looking at is really ~$2-5 blinds level with minimum $500 buy-in. I'm also interested in any small blind game that allows for deepish play w/ bigger buyins ie $300 and up.

My roll is fine. I have a very high% of my capital generating interest income. I will probably hit the road initailly with maybe $25K-$30K -maybe $5K of that for traveling expenses. I dont want to overplay things and jepardize my bankroll. I may end up playing $5-10 and higher if things only go really well. I'm a grinder and a nit so I'm kind of bitchy about just finding good games where I could make $350-$500/+/? a day.

Is it possible we could get a thread going focusing on these type of games...

What rooms spread the best action at this level..any accompanying including +ev info. on comps for food, lodging etc even parking are welcome.

Often newly opened pokerrooms have great action. Are there any of these of late?

Best games are SoCal, hands down. Doesn't seem to matter what limits you play. Lots of crazy action players, lots of bad players, lots of gamblers, ect..

yea photoc I've played a ton in LA-stayed there for 3 months on each of 2 trips and thats probably where I will end up but was wondering if others could highlite specific games in any of the markets whether large or small.

Obviously I can go back and re-read posts on this topic which may be necesaary if this thread dies.

If you have been beating NL holdem for 2 years i think you would do fine in 5-10NL games with a 20k roll. I understand if you want to grind it out at first, but if you aren't prone to tilting I suggest getting into the 5-10NL as soon as possible.

There are several casinos throughout Oklahoma which would be great for your specifications, great 2/5 NL games... Especially at the Winstar, about an hour north of Dallas.

Inn of the Mountain Gods has a good $5/$10 NLHE, $500 min-$1000 max buy-in that plays on Fridays & Saturdays

They regularly have a $2/$5 $200-$500 NLHE, most Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.

Given your experience, I think you'd like these games, if you were passing through this part of the country....

I played the 1-2 game at the Beau Rivage a couple of weeks ago waiting for a 2-5 seat on a Tuesday night. It was one of the softest games I've ever sat in. It was so good and deep that I passed on the 2-5 seat. With no cap the pots were more like a 500 max 2-5 game.

IMO on the Weekends you'll have to look hard to find a bad game in Mississippi (Tunica or the coast) but I think finding good weekday action is the key to any good road trip. You've played on the road a lot, what's your take on midweek action in general?

How's the action in Kinder? I've thought about dropping in there a couple of times but it never worked out.

Best of Luck

yes Biloxi is where I usually play since I live in south Florida. Grand Coushatta is a very small room closest lodging being an extremely smelly papermill town forgot the name guess its Kinder. For Louisiana and Mississippi..Biloxi, Tunica, New Orleans, Lakes Charles and Shreveport are all better than Grand Coushatta.

I will hit this region first. If the games are just sick somewhere and I'm crushing it ..I will stay put for as long as I'm doing well. I really know the town of Biloxi well ie lodging /activities so I may not even leave there when I decide to do daytrips to New Orleans. NOLA is expensive and dangerous.

Weekday late morning and afternoon are bad almost anywhere. If you play graveyard you'll usually find decent games. I'm a night person anyway so I dont mind.

NOLA is not that dangerous, yo. Just stay in the nice areas.

And this comes from someone who hates New Orleans. It's a craphole.

goodguy,

If you are going to be travelling with a lot of cash, then I would advise you if you don't have one already, to buy a gun, learn how to use it, and get a concealed carry permit for same. Most states recognize the carry permits of other states and you can visit packing.org for info on all the specific state laws re same. In the south you will probably be OK in every state, but in the northeast and west coast you will have to keep the gun locked in the trunk unloaded if they don't have friendly peaceable journey laws for same. And in DC or NYC you can't even do that.

Also if you have a nice ride and a model frequently stolen, then get as good of saftey/alarm hardware as you can.

Good luck on your trip.

I'd really recommend Tunica. The Horseshoe's $2/5 game is pretty soft and the $1/2NL games at the Gold Strike and Sam's Town are like taking money from babies. It's like the casinos were just built two months ago.

Plus the poker room rates are about $25 weekdays/$35 weekends and you never pay for food while you are there.
