Please don\'t call my CR bluff! nl600

party 6 max
villain is clit_smacker seems like a decent tag. haven't noticed him getting out of line, and we haven't really clashed as of yet.

I am probably around 20/15/4 at table, reraising pretty regularly preflop and not seeing many showdowns.

villain has 640, I cover

preflop; hero is dealt A8c
I open in CO to 24, villain calls in button, blinds fold

flop (57) a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]j [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
hero bets 40, villain calls,

turn (137) k [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
hero checks, villain bets 124, hero CR all in

what do you think? also what do you think villains range for calling turn is? I think he folds j9 and has trouble calling with aj and calls with anything better.

I don't like it because your hand has some showdown value. There are lots of hands he could have that you are beating, and he'll just fold all of those. There are a couple hands that you would have lost to that he might fold, but not that many -- I would have said only AQ, AT. But almost all the hands that are ahead of you will call. It is hard to put you on QT, so I don't see him folding any of the two-pair hands. And if you really had the AK, then you would have bet out, because you wouldn't be able to afford the chance of a check behind.

If you said that your bet was for value, because you had put him on a combination hand such as KQ or QdJd, then I would say that it isn't that horrible. But unless you really feel he would never float or bluff, I think that check and call turn and river will make more money in the long run.

I was villain in this hand. I suck out good btw.

As for calling turn push, i'd say you're reads are dead on. I'd definately fold J9 and idk about AJ possible fold depending on game conditions. I'd also say I have AK/QT/set a LARGE amount of the time here and am calling.

that being said, i really dont like the c/r allin with Ac8c here

ya after hand I thought the near psb on turn probably meant you weren't on a steal/ moderate strength hand ( j9)

I generally like to have a little bit of equity vs. my opponents calling range whereas here, you have none, which seems bad since I think you get looked up a lot here.

Can someone explain to me betting this flop? Is it because it's draaaw heavy?

Perhaps I just play really goofy, but I never bet these flops even when I raise PF. I instead mix in a series of lines depending on how hard I hit the flop or miss that I think keeps my opponents completely off balance, keeps me out of marginal situations where I don't have to get too involved, allows me to catch more bluffs, and keeps the pots small unless I hit it hard.

Yes, if you're looking to get run over in these games that's what you should do.

Personally I call you with anything on this flop and a lot of times nothing.

Tom cruise is just too sexy!

Anyways, we all play a different game. I personally have difficulty every time I come back to these forums trying to understand how people think/play this silly game. I think a lot of people grind out there 6 or more tables without really thinking about the game they're playing. It becomes so routine. I generally always play 4 tables and pay attention to my opponents A LOT. I think I play a much more aggressive and higher variance game than most on here though.

We have no evidence to suggest that our opponent in this hand plays as exploitably as you do. Absent that sort of information, I think c/f turn is best.
