MD Residents - what pay service/method will you use now?

I am a MD resident so NetTeller is not available for me. I had been using FirePay with no issues. Expectedly, I got the email yesterday from FirePay about them pulling out.

So what pay service/payment method will likely be available to MD residents going forward? Has anyone used CentralCoin or does anyone have any information about them pertaining to the upcoming legislation enactment? How bout others?

For the sake of argument, let's assume (we don't know for sure at this point) that we are talking about FTP, UB, and Stars as the sites that are available.

Thanks!

I'll probably try the regular check route at Fult Tilt.

You can also request a withdrawal by check if your cash out is $300 or greater. In order for Full Tilt Poker to send you a check, we must first verify your identity. Please fax Full Tilt Poker a clear and legible copy of your drivers license, and a recent utility bill to 1-877-845-8329. Checks will be delivered within 10 business days and free of charge via regular postal service

I felt sort of safe with Firepay because they were a public traded company. If people use Click2Pay or eChecks I'd love to hear if they had any issues.

I see that you are referring to withdrawals in your quote. I imagine that Click2Pay/eChecks would work for deposits as well?

Has Click2Pay announced anything given the impending legislation enactment?

I have used Click2Pay in the past and have had no problems. However, not all poker sites accept them.

What kind of juice does Click2Pay charge on deposits, and is ACH from one's bank available? I'd go to the site myself, but it's blocked on my work computer.

Can you use NetTeller if you open up a DE, PA, or VA bank account?

Harvest, location of your bank acct isn't relevant. I'm a MD resident. PM me.

Cool. I will PM you.

For the group, I assume that it is your place of residence that's the issue. Would a PO Box in a nearby state be good enough to open a bank account and thusly make it ok to use NetTeller?

You already know this, but having an address and a phone number in MD is a problem, as far as Neteller is concerned, because the Communist Party that runs this state told them they had to submit to a full body cavity search each and every time they wanted to do business with someone who lives here, so Neteller very wisely told them to [censored] off.

Damn, I am in Maryland, and with all the new stuff going on figured I had to get a Neteller acct. Oh well.

Let the thread know what you learn..

Thanks,

While Netteller may be the best alternative there are many other alternatives...Most sites offer some form of e-check funding as well as cash outs directly to your bank accounts..In most cases there are no fees in either direction...

Nice.

If anyone from MD uses something other than FP or NetTeller for Stars, FTP, or UB, please let us know.

I would imagine straight checks to/from the site would work.
Certainly looking for something a bit quicker. Beggars can't be choosers at this point.

Re: MD Residents - what pay service/method will you use now?

I tried opening a CentralCoin account since Stars says they use that service. I was able to open the account, but I was unable to fund the account for some unknown reason (FP hooked up to my bank account had and has worked fine for me for almost 2.5 years). I asked for more info from CentralCoin and they gave me none and said I would never be able to use their service.

Stars just announced that they are stopping deposits and withdrawals from FP this week. See their web site for the announcement, it is posted.

Re: MD Residents - what pay service/method will you use now?

I've made deposits to Stars using CentralCoin, but haven't used it in over a year. I'm assuming it would still work. Now that Stars has made their announcement, I'll try it and post the results. I haven't heard them say anything about denying service to US residents.

I got the email from FirePay, so I'm worried about how to fund/withdraw from FullTilt. FTP says they're no longer going to require that you use the same service to withdraw funds that were used to fund it (at least if it was funded by FirePay). They ask to set up a new preferred payment processor, but I haven't done it yet. They recommend Neteller which obviously doesn't do us Marylanders any good. Anyone have anly luck on FTP setting up a new PPP?

Re: MD Residents - what pay service/method will you use now?

I tried e-checks on Stars and it works but...there are limits like $500/week intially. Furthermore, it is rather sensitive, if you try multiple smaller deposits, it will reject a request and you have to wait longer before your next deposit.

It did work however.

Has anyone used a diferent address for Neteller like a PO Box in a nearby state?

You can deposit & cashout by wire if you mail support to ask for details. You have to deposit/withdraw fairly large sums though - $1k either way, say.

Re: MD Residents - what pay service/method will you use now?

MD is the house here also. I had used firepay pretty much exclusively, and have always hated not having access to Neteller. About half a year ago I got into Epassporte. This is accepted at Full Tilt, Pokerroom , and Hollywood poker for both deposit and withdraw. It is also accepted at Absolute for deposit. I think it may work at Doyle's room for both deposit and withdraw. It is not accpeted at Stars. Thank god I was able to use Party last week to move about 5k of my working roll from Firepay-> Party -> Epassporte.

In my mind, us MD'ers need to petition both Stars and Absolute to use Epassporte for deposit/withdraw now that Firepay is Busto. I know other things like central coin and click 2 pay are around, but if worse comes to worse, I will probably just give e-checks a try.

How does stars process a cashout if you deposit by e-check?

At least with FT, straight checks are not an option for me. They deliver them with UPS and charge a ~$33.50 delivery fee, plus it takes time.

This really cuts into anyone's profit who is playing micro's and or bonus whoring.

The problem is that the P.O. Box needs to match up with the address for your bank account. Obviously, you could open up a bank account with the non-MD P.O. Box address but if you're a MD resident whose SSN is linked to paying taxes in MD, that may be tough to pull off?

Can epassporte be used at sites that "accept Visa" but make no mention of epassporte?

How do I get money out of epassporte and back into my bank?

What operations cost money? I see an awful 5% charge for loading the card from my personal Visa.

I haven't read this whole tread because I don't live in MD, but couldn't you just open out of state mail box and an ING savings account. Then fund Neteller.

Yes but you must upgrade to the visa electron card which costs either 25 or 35 dollars

Same way you do with Neteller or Firepay. EFT. Their EFTs seem to take longer than Firepay's or IGMpays though. There is also a 2 dollar charge per withdraw and you start with a limit of 300 to withdraw per day. Apparently this can be upped by talking to support.

I believe you can do transfers direct from your bank account like EFTs or e-checks, but you do have to wait for that to clear.

I know Neteller requires you to have a phone number that matches in area code to approximately the location where you say you reside. I had a NY cell phone when I moved to Boston and they rejected me for that reason. So somehow I doubt this would work between states, unless you all could get a temporary cell phone from Delaware or VA or something.

And, I am also using Firepay and need to figure this all out soon

I do not think you can just open a bank account in another state...I think you need an address and a phone number in that state...You also may run into a problem at some point in time when your poker site address does not match your netteller info...

Independant of the Neteller angle, it is most certainly possible and legal to have a bank account in a another state.

get vonage where you can pick your own area code....also i live in ohio and have bank accounts in pittsburgh and new york... lived there at the time i opened them but i still have them and they send me statements every month to ohio so i don't think banks care about living in a different state

I believe this has changed recently. I got this answer before so I left my Neteller account dormant. I actually forgot about it and called the other day to see if they could activate my account so I could move money between sites. When the guy asked for my phone number I gave him my cell phone as that's all I have. He said "Is this a California number?" I said "no it's my mobile from new york" and he continued. So either he was being nice and overriding the rules, possible due to the recent legislation, or they changed their policy. Either way it's worth a shot.
