Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

Figured I'd get this thread up and going for the week.

First [censored] decision of the week.

Delhomme at BAL
or
Smith vs SD

Ew. Delhomme, I think. Two bad matchups, I'd prefer the better QB/team.

Who's on the waiver wire?

I'd say flip a coin. Make Delhomme heads since he has a head.

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

TD only league.

1 QB - Brees vs PHI, Pennington vs MIA

2 RB - Westbrook @ NO, Gore vs SD, McGahee @ DET, Caddy vs CIN, Michael Turner @ SF (maybe SD goes up early, Turner gets lots of garbage time?)

2 WR - D Jackson @ STL, Cotchery vs MIA, A Bryant vs SD, Horn vs PHI

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

- Pennington, expecting a bounce back game...but I like the Jets so take that with a grain of salt.

- Westbrook, McGahee (nice RB's by the way)

- DJax, Cotchery

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

This is my worst week - most of my players are on bye. I've got to squeeze out every single point this week as I have to start a bad RB at #2.

QB:
Grosman vs. Ari
Bulger vs Sea

WR:
(T. Holt #1)
Andre Johnson vs Dallas
Coles vs Mia
(I could also start both of these and not start a 2nd RB.)

RB:
(E. James #1)
Ron Dayne vs. Dal
Jerious Norwood vs. NYG

DEF:
Dallas vs. HOU
Washington vs. TENN

Thanks. Still getting killed though... bench players always outscore my starters (see Pennington early weeks) and opponents usually have their best week against me (3 of 5 weeks so far).

If Westbrook can't go this week, go with Gore, Caddy or Turner?

I think I take Caddy with the "TD Only" thing. Gore might still lose goal-line carries and I'll take a feature back over a backup who will split carries.

Gore I'd say - but it's tough.

Last year I had the most points of any team, by quite a large margin, (I had James + Alexander + C. Johnson, etc.) But every week, my oppenet had their game of the season against me. Very frustrating when you have both the highest PF and PA by a landslide.

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

i dont really have any decisions, since everyone i'm not playing is on a bye week, but are any of these players/matchups bad enough that i should go to the WW for this one week? i'm 3-1 in my league and playing the worst team in the league right now record wise, although he's second or third worst by points scored.

QB: Pennington @ Mia
WR: Bruce @ Sea, Galloway @ Cin, Branch @ Stl
RB: Portis @ Ten, Cadillac @ Cin
TE: Heap @ Car
KL Josh Brown @ Stl
DEF: Pitt @ KC

standard Yahoo scoring.

Not sure if you want to load up with the Jets that much but MIA is bad. I'd say it's a toss up between Bryant and Cotchery.

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

NorCal,

I think you are okay. Not sure what receivers are available but that would be the only place I would look. Even then I don't know which of those 3 I would sit for someone off the WW.

NorCalJosh 10-10-2006 01:15 PM

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

WR has been the weakest point of my team all season long. the top available players off the WW... Arnez Battle SF, Rashied Davis Chi, Tim Carter NYG. at that point i'm getting into the 15 point range for the season.

NorCal,

Stay with what you have.

Mebenhoe,

I'd still flip a coin. Gradkowski is a little interesting though, but I don't see him being better than either Delhomme or Smith.

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

Not really too many options for me this week. Currently 4-1, currently 2nd in points scored.

QB: Plummer vs Oak (anyone think FA available Losman vs Det or Smith vs SD are better?)
RB: Tatum vs Oak
RB2: Cadillac vs Cin or Gore vs SD
WR1: Walker vs Oak
WR2: Evans vs Det
WR3: Roy W vs Buf or D. Stallworth vs NO
TE: Gates vs SF (don't think there are any better options)
K: Gould (best in league)
Def: Chicago vs Ari (2nd best in league)

Byes: Peyton, Edwards, Droughns, Green

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

plummer, cadillac, stallworth.

wh1t3bread 10-10-2006 01:27 PM

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

Capone,

Stick with Plummer vs. Oakland.
RB: Bell & Cadillac
WR: Walker, Evans, Stallworth. I'd almost consider Williams instead of Evans, not sure on his injury status though.

capone0 10-10-2006 01:28 PM

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

I thought this weeks were pretty easy. I would have picked the same. Anyone here news on Stallworth or Roy Williams conditions? I currently have a ton of injuries although not serious ones that leaves me with game time decisions which can get quite annoying.

capone0 10-10-2006 01:31 PM

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

Is Roy a guaranteed play this week. I love him usually but if hurt I'd rather pick the healthier guy. Detroit is #30 against the pass right now. I'm not a huge Evans fan but that's why I might play him. Currently they have given up 11 tds and only 1 pick in Detroit.

Zoelef 10-10-2006 01:34 PM

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

I have no idea which RBs I should start (pick 2):

Frank Gore (vs. SD)
Steven Jackson (vs. CHI)
Edgerring James (vs. SEA)
Warrick Dunn (vs. NYG)
Jerious Norwood (vs. NYG)

All top-10 D's against the run. My mind says Gore/Dunn...

I also have the option to start Plaxico Burress (3rd WR) instead of a #2 RB - does anyone think he might outscore the 2nd-best RB here?

Yeah, I'm not sure about Williams. Yahoo says he will be day-to-day and should play this weekend. After seeing those number I almost think it might be safer to start Evans. I'm a big Evans fan, not a big Losman fan.

Jackson and Dunn, Jackson is playing SEA and James is playing CHI fwiw.

No. Falcons are very good against the pass.

Falcons might have Abraham and their stud MLB back (can't remember his name). If they do, watch out because their D get's much, much better.

Pick 2 out of 3 WRs

A. Johnson @ Dal
D. Jackson @ STL
B. Berrian @ ARI.

Thanks

capone0 10-10-2006 01:55 PM

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

I think the easy one is Berrian. I trust D. Jackson against St. Louis more than I trust Andre vs Dallas. Both are average pass D teams but Hasselback I still feel is better than Carr and Dallas wants a payback game and so does Seattle due to their last game losses.

wh1t3bread 10-10-2006 02:04 PM

I like Jackson and Berrian too right now.

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

Should I expect Travis Henry to start for the rest of the season? He was inactive week 4, and then rushed for 123 yards in week 5. I don't know what to think about this guy.

Edit: Also, would Cedric Benson be worth trading for if I didn't have to give up too much? He finally got in the endzone this week, but I don't know if that was just a product of the Bears blowing out their competition.

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

My running back options are [censored] this week

Julius Jones against Houston is an easy pick
For RB2 I have:
Gore v SD
Jordan v Denver
Addai on bye
I picked up Benson for this week since he plays Ari

So do I start Benson stealing carries from Jones against a bad Arizona D, or do I roll the dice on Jordan/Gore praying they score? For reference my league is very touchdown heavy. 1pt/20 yds rushing, 7-11 points for TDs depending on length

Other RBs that have potential on the WW are
Marion Barber v Hou (dumb since I am playing Jones, even worse because he has been stealing my guys TDs)
Turner @ SF (seems to get alot of garbage time carries)
T. Henry @ Wash
Norwood

I also have a QB issue since its Peytons bye week. Brunell v. Tenn easy? Plummer against Oakland seem like a better option?

Victor 10-10-2006 03:01 PM

Re: Official Week 6 Fantasy Football Thread

meb, i go with delhomme. assume both d's are equal, go with the better team and wr.

mad, go with pennington vs a terrible miami team. nyj like to pass too. rb is westbrook and mcgahee. if westbrook injured go with gore. wr is easily djax and jcotch.

junkmail, grossman easy. roll the dice with 3 wr. id go wash for the d vs a [censored] team and rookie qb.

capone, caddy over gore bc matchup. stallworth over evans if hes healthy.

zoe, dunn and jackson (v seatle)

hit the set, berrian and djax.

trade question because i can't find the other thread.

my team:

RB: Portis, Kevin Jones, Droughns, Travis Henry
WR: Chambers, Boldin, Houshmanzedhah, Lee Evans, Kennison

trade offer:

Cadilac + Stallworth for Chambers and Boldin.

I hold my nose and pick up Gradkowski. Playing a QB who's facing Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or San Diego is basically begging for trouble. At least the Bengals defense has showed signs of weakness.

return yds count same as rushing/recieving, bonus at 100 for each.
