CCU...gone?
I just tried to open up CCU's page and got a "http 404 - URL not found" error. Anybody been on their site lately? Or has FON lived up to reputation?

Re: CCU...gone?
Shocking, I'm sure no one saw that coming. Why not stick to sites like PSO where you know you won't get screwed even if this turns out to be just a hosting issue.
Edit, he has not posted here since September 29th. |

[/ QUOTE ] He lives in NY. Any lawyers here want to tell us how to sue him in small-claims court from another state? I could care less about the money, but if i could use a long-arm statute to force him to show up in a N.M. court, then that would be worthwhile fun to me. lol |
Re: CCU...gone?
I think you would need a name/address(either corporate or personal) to have the papers served to. Other than that, I think it is just a matter fo going to your local court and filing suit. I've been through this once before, and I can't rmemeber if there was a fee to file or not(should be very small if there is). Wouldn't that be fun if he got slapped with 100 lawsuits from all different jusridictions LOL!

You know, with everyone so looking for a reason to point out that you will have your money stolen if you gamble on the internet. Ken |

He changed his name on the whois registry. CCU was registered to Sheldon Swift; now it's registered to Sheldon Silver. Edit: Sheldon Silver is the speaker of the NY state assembly, so it's obviously not him. |

Damn, I want my $250.

Me too

Re: CCU...gone?
We really should go after this guy. Even if the names he used were fake, we could go after the sites (particularly SIA) to get the information on their affiliate. They let someone use their site's name and paid him money to get us in the door. Then he turned around and scrammed after they paid him.

Re: CCU...gone?
Some people got paid by him earlier, right? If he paid through Neteller, they should have his real name.
Or maybe he just forgot to pay his hosting fees |

Re: CCU...gone?
I don't know anything about CCU aside from what has been posted here and the fact that I had to suspend FreeOffersNow's 2+2 privileges for a three days a while back for spamming. That said, how about holding off on the lawsuit discussion before you are sure that the guy ran away for good.
I don't like that he hasn't posted here in a while, either, considering the fact he used to do so every day, but maybe there's just web hosting problem going on. |

[/ QUOTE ] Just tried with the dutch version of IE, which should give the same error, but in dutch language. The page showed up in english, so I am fairly sure that he changed his site to fake a technical error. |
Re: CCU...gone?
Wow, check the source code for the page, sure enough that is a fake IE error. Tried 3 browsers and same thing in all of them. Safe to assume he split. Good Hand CCU!!

Re: CCU...gone?
I signed up to 2 sites through CCU. One I'll never use again anyways, but assuming nothing changes I will never use SIA again and will make sure they understand why. If they are going to pay affiliates to bring in customers, I will hold them responsible for not letting any scumbag become an affiliate. I'll hold off a few days, but it seems pretty clear what happened.

Re: CCU...gone?
i called him today and left a message. told him myself and couple guys would like to meet him for a business meeting in a NY alley to discuss the new internet bill.
i'll keep ya posted |
Re: CCU...gone?
This suxxx!!!! Not what the online community needs right now! Hopefully every1 will keep posting on what we can do to take any/all action available!!!

Re: CCU...gone?
depending on your estimate of how many people signed up for sia through this guy i would guess he made between 25 and 100k from that deal alone.

[/ QUOTE ] I understand your point and would be tempted to do so also. but it's not like SIA is any different from any other site in this regard for the most part. Party and almost every other site out there have some scumbag affiliates. I don't begrudge SIA in this situation at all (unless I learn something more concrete that I actually should find fault with them). I've also been informed that sportsbetting affiliates will not continue to make money from me if I continue to give them business. I'm finding some worthwhile lines on SIA so I'll continue to make some bets there. Much of the bonus requirement I was able to clear via a very small middle I found between them and another site so I never risked anything to clear the bonus-requirement. For those who used it as part of their 'insurance' for the Mansion free Steelers bet awhile ago though I definitely understand being pretty ticked. Also agree with dlk9 that we should give him a few days to respond. Likely wishful thinking I admit as it seems pretty obvious he's outta here. But anything's possible. |

Re: CCU...gone?
I'm sorry if I was wrong in sticking up for this guy after I got paid my 75
I hope he's still gonna pay, but right now it looks kinda bad I would really like that 250 |
Re: CCU...gone?
there were other people who talked about knowing him from other forums and bringing him over here. someone should search and find who those people are, and what forum he came from so we can go on a proper hunt

Re: CCU...gone?
I'm waiting until Oct.20 before making any judgments, one way or the other. That's when he said he'd pay. For all we know his site got hijacked or similar.
This does not look good, though: http://who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?do...rog_id=godaddy Administrative Contact: Silver, Sheldon Paragon Network 1701 East Avenue Rochester, New York 14610 United States 5852713960 That address is a McDonalds. The phone number is for the McDonalds as well. I suppose it's possible he works there, anyone want to give it a call and ask? The name change to Sheldon Silver from Sheldon Swift is also concerning. Sheldon Silver is a politician in the NY area. Anyway, I'll be sitting tight until Oct.20 comes around. If no payment by then, we'll see. I'm not too worried about it, as I have his real name, address, phone number, etc. Let's give him until the 20th before any action is taken. |

Good Hand CCU!! -Brendan [/ QUOTE ] Man, that is some pretty cold [censored]. I thought he might just be moving to an offshore host (like a lot of affiliates are lately) but the fake IE error page makes his intentions pretty clear. My guess is that with the new legislation clamping down on some of his key profit centers, he decided it was time to close up shop with a convenient excuse. There is no reason a site like his can't work, but there will always be tracking problems to deal with and I sure wouldn't want the aggravation. Also Microbob, FYI the majority of sportsbooks do pay affiliates based on a % of net losses. SIA is one of the only ones I have seen that pays on a % of initial deposit method. If he was signed up under this method, then yes, he won't get any more $$ from your future play, but if it was a different book, the answer would probably be different. Halo7 |
Re: CCU...gone?

I wonder how much money he made out of this. [/ QUOTE ] More than many reputable affiliates will ever make. It's a shame people fall for these sorts of offers. Maybe he bailed because SIA stiffed him. At least that way he wouldn't be rich. |
Re: CCU...gone?
I can honestly say I did not expect money.
But a serious lol for how he did it. |
Re: CCU...gone?
I should have known this would happen... I should have been paid the 20th of last month but got some poorly explained balk e-mails when I asked for updates.
I hate everyone on earth. |

Re: CCU...gone?
Even more wow, he registered the site to a Mcdonald's in NY under the name of a NY politian. Damn, talk about a huge scandal. Everyone who is owed money by CCU post here how many sites he owes you for and how much money so we can try to get a running total going. Probably gonna be a pain trying to locate him though, he might not even be located in NY.

chopstick you still think his site got hijacked?

It is looking worse and worse, but I prefer to think that his site just got hijacked. I did compare the page code, and I agree that it is faked. That, along with the registrar changes are not a good sign. That doesn't mean that he did it, though. Hopefully he will come back to the forum with an explanation post of some type. No reason to stress out over it until the 20th rolls around or he comes forth and lets us know he intends to not pay. If he has indeed split, I have no doubt I will be able to persuade him that it is in his best interests to live up to his end of the deal. At least, in my case. |
